Parkey’s Heating Plumbing & Air Conditioning
4.0
I was interested in getting air conditioning installed, so I called a few places for estimates. Tim came out and gave a thorough and professional presentation, then made a thorough survey of our house before proposing a system and making an estimate. He pointed out that a heat pump was a bit more expensive, but would take some of the load off the gas furnace in the winter. After some thought, we decided to take their bid. The job was scheduled for the next week. Parkey's also scheduled the electrical work that needed to be done, although we paid for it separately. The electricians came and did their part, followed shortly by the Parkey's crew. Some of the guys worked outside while one worked on installing the coil in the furnace. The crew leader had to leave before the job was done because of a family emergency, and another tech took over. This caused some trouble. The first tech apparently called for the county inspectors to come and inspect before the job was ready, and the inspector did not sign off on the job. So he had to come back later, which meant more time out of my schedule to let him in. The other problem was the humidifier. We had a humidifier already installed, which needed to be moved to accommodate the heat pump coil. After it was moved, it didn't work. After a few days, I called Parkey's - they immediately sent out a tech, who worked for a while on it and thought it was fixed. Unfortunately, it was not, and whatever he did also meant the heat didn't work either. So someone else came out, got the heat working, and figured out that the humidifier needed a new board and solenoid. Two weeks after the initial work, the system worked as advertised. To summarize: overall, I'm happy with the system, the price, and the responsiveness of Parkeys. They worked until they got it right, and were very responsive to my questions. Tim did a great job walking me through the options I had. My only gripe is it took a while to get everything working, and a fair amount of time for me to be at home and let the techs in to work.

Bennett'S Total Home Comfort
1.0
It didn't go at all. Mr. Bennett arrived on Saturday morning after not scheduling my job for over 2 weeks. Then it was rescheduled from Thursday, May 30th, to Friday May 31st, then finally to Saturday June 1st. By text, Mr Bennett had quoted installing a heat pump for $200. When he arrived he asked several questions that gave the impression that he thought we might not need the heat pump installed. I told him that we did. He then said that the wall mounted bracket I had purchased to hold the outside condenser, "would need to go in some strong wood, but he would suggest putting it on a concrete slab". We discussed it and then I said ok. I was texting Amazon in order to return the wall bracket when Mr Bennett left to go get concrete to pour a slab. While he was gone, he had his wife call to tell me the cost for the slab and for the electrical for the heat pump, which I found a little strange. I called Mr. Bennett to discuss the additional cost and he did not answer. He returned to our home and then refused to do the job. From the time he walked in our door, it did not seem that he really wanted to be here. I feel he should have discussed how to mount the condenser unit before we had an install appointment. Then he, and I, would have been aware of what needed to be done before, or during, the job. I found his reaction to my questioning the additional costs, and his subsequent refusal to do the job highly unprofessional. I believe that he simply had other jobs he would rather have been working on and I was just an aside that he wished he hadn't agreed to do. I found his entire demeanor over my questions odd, and I would not recommend him or his company. He stated that, "people who know me just tell me to 'do the job' and they pay for it". I assume that means no one has ever questioned his cost. When I did, I found that he used it for an excuse to back out. I think he underestimated this job and just didn't want to do it. He stated that we "wasted hours of his time", but due to the delay in his scheduling, I have lost more than 3 weeks when I could have found another company to do this. Next time, Mr Bennett, if you don't want to do the job just say so.

JD Vigil Heating & AC
2.0
First service on my old furnace occured on 12/20/06 (paid $69.00). Second service was on 2/3/08 (paid $588.00). Third service was on 8/06/08 (paid 227.00). Owner JD Vigil suggested a new system at this point and really pushed for a more expensive system but I did agree. I told him that I was trying to procure a home equity loan and he scheduled the work before the loan was finalized. Then the loan fell through. I tried several different lenders but I didn't have enough equity in my house because the value had fallen so much (like everyone else). So the work was performed without me having obtained the money. The company hounded me to pay off the balance (they called repeatedly while I was trying to arrange funding and his secretary was cold and curt). I eventually had to put the $8,400.00 on a couple of credit cards. Then the fun began. Install was done on or around 7/9/09. Had to have them come out on 10/21/09. Repair description reads, "Corrrected wiring in crawl space at furnace so sys. will corectly deenergize reversing valve in heat mode." Then I had to have them out again on 2/11/10 because I had no heat, Repair description reads, "Condensate purge hose not full just 4" filled pump not level Leveled and tested pump OK pump wired to break outdoor temp sensor not "R" TV circuit board rewired to break "R" from cond and T-stat Heat pump turns on for call for heat then kicks off 5-10 min later changed T-stat to emergency heat furnace does not kick on Removed T-stat face and a relay fell off back Another relay is partially broken Replaced T-stat Reprogramed and cycled several times in heat and emergency cycled perfectly." Then I had to have them out again on 2/29/10 as I again had no heat. Repair description reads, "found open low volt short cutting power to start Repaired short checked operation=good found no other problems at this time syst working good." So had to have them out 3 times after a new install. Then like an idiot I bought a club membership. I had them out one time on 8/24/10 for a tune up. They recommended a surge protector to the tune of $179.00--don't know why they didn't recommend this at the time of install. I never called them back as I was fed up at this point. I found JD Vigil to be quite beguiling and glib. I feel I was duped and deceived. He is a good salesman but runs a shoddy business. He got all of his money but I never received any kind of apology for shoddy workmanship or poor business practices. I also complained to Lennox. He apparently got the complaint and called me. He was very brusque on the phone. I was in the middle of something and said I couldn't talk. He never called back. I have (and will continue to) tell everyone I know not to use this company. I am a reasonable guy. In my 54 years of life I have never made a formal complaint like this one. I hope this story will help someone in the future to avoid the mistake I made by hiring this company. By the way, I have still not completely paid off the credit cards. I joined Angie's List to find a new HVAC company to take over my maintenance.

The guys were really nice and worked well as a team. They were hard working. Their price was a little more than we might have got from somebody else but I went with them because of their reputation with Better Business Bureau and Angie's List. We just felt that they are the ones we should go with.

Home Heating Service's representative was above and beyond anyone I've ever seen. He came out 3 times to check equipment. I went with a larger machine than I was originally thinking of. Their price was excellent and their service was truly outstanding. I would highly recommend them. I would give them A+'s across the board. The sales representative was not a high pressure salesman. He took his time to explain everything to me. He pointed things out to me that I was not aware of. It was an explanation sale.

RIGHT NOW AIR

They did an excellent job. They weren't the cheapest estimate that I got, but I went with them because the gentleman who came out to give the estimate was very honest. Any time I had a question about another company's unit that was cheaper than theirs, he did not downgrade the other company, just explained the differences between the two. Any time they've come out to service the air conditioner since I've had them installed, they've been very courteous, very neat, and have done an excellent job.

Heat Pump Installation in Colorado Springs

Recent Review: First, we researched the top brands of AC units and were looking at Lennox systems along with Trane and Carrier. We finally decide that we would look at the entire package for a selection. We finally decided to start with Costco and they use Cooper for all heating and AC installs. We went to COSTCO and set up an appointment for an estimate. Jordan came to the house and did a thorough inspection complete with a review of windows and doors plus a measurement of the space to determine the size of the unit we would need. I have a friend who formerly worked doing AC installs and he indicated we would need a 3.5-4 ton unit. Jordan recommended the same so I was comfortable immediately with his analysis. After that, he sat down and went over the review. He made note of some issues that he may help with on the furnace during install. He then gave us 4 estimates, 2 for AC's and 2 for Heat pumps which I requested. He quoted a price and then we took the weekend and two more days to research and obtain two other estimates. Cooper was extremely competitive but when looking at the warranty extension AND 5 years of annual services (Which have averaged $90 a year for the past 10 years) on BOTH heating and AC (they did not install any heating, it is the furnace we have had for 10 years), the deal was irresistible. So, we spoke on Tuesday to confirm pricing and setup an appointment, met on Thursday to sign papers and they installed on Friday. Now, as for install, the two incredibly professional and polite installers (Martin and Dan) showed up on time (and called to let us know they were on the way). They walked us through the install procedure and explained what every step they were doing. They showed us how the system worked and programmed our new thermostat (Part of the package). The system kicked on and it was just as we wanted. They then cleaned up every area including wiping the floors after vacuuming, cleaned up all parts and screws outside and left the area as it was when they arrived. Talk about outstanding high quality service, these guys set set the standard high and live by it! I have never had a more professional installation of any service than what these two gentleman gave us. Two days later, we discovered the fan on the furnace continued to run even when the AC was not on. We called Cooper that afternoon and they wanted to send someone out that day. However, we asked for a scheduled visit on the next Monday and sure enough, 9:00 AM came and the area supervisor Joshua showed up at the door, and immediately diagnosed the problem, obtained a part and fixed the system. When we pulled out the check book, we got "No charge, its under the warranty". It turns out that our furnace was an older model and after a day or so, it stopped recognizing the AC as a second unit and continued to run the fan. This was something that was not anticipated nor expected and was not due to any install issue whatsoever. It just was one of those things. The point here is that Cooper stands by their warranty and service-- and demonstrated their dedication by coming right out and, we deeply appreciate their focus on the customer. So, if you are looking for high quality equipment, installation and service, look no more, Cooper Heating and Cooling is the only way to go.
