The only pleasant experience with this whole project has been dealing with Redwood Empire Roofing.  They returned to correct the area which had leaked and have also called back to be sure everything was still holding up after the repair.  Unfortunately, I am not sure if Mr. Crawford haspaid them for their efforts.  The leaking problem was caused by Mr. Crawford's improper flashing where the new roof joined the house.  Redwood Empire Roofing fixed that problem.  They were wonderful! From start to finish, this project has taken two years.  Problems started with the architect who designed something which we were told had to be constructed that way because of issues with the City of Eureka Building Department.  Unfortunately, we found out after the carport was built that the City would have approved what we had originally wanted.  Obviously, both Mr. Crawford and the architect he hired were unfamiliar with thebuilding code and did not makeany efforts to satisfy his customer.  Work on the carport ceased in January of 2012.  Mr. Crawford left the project with gaping holes where the concrete had been chopped away to provide the footings for the carport supports.  At least two incidents occurred where these holes caused injuries. During February and March of 2012, leaks in the roof caused the finished ceilling to buckle and detach. Mr. Crawford's solution to the problem was to tear out sections of the ceiling in order to allow the concealed underside of the roof to dry.  That was the last time that Mr. Crawford did any work on the project. I was left to contact the roofing company on my own, to deal with the City to have the project inspected and to go about having Mr. Crawford's faulty work repaired.  When the City Building Department inspected the project they issued a Notice of Correction for the work that had been done and also noted that the contractor had not provided any venting for the project which would have resulted in dryrot had it not been addressed.   The Building Inspector also told me at that time that there would have been absolutely no problem in having the original design I had wanted implemented.  Unfortunately, it would have cost me too much to correct Mr. Crawford's design. While Mr. Crawford was still communicating with me, he was given an additional check for $2,500.00 as a deposit for the driveway work to be done.  He never purchased any materials or did any work for that money.  I guess he thought it was a bonus for work poorly done. My only recourse was to file a Small Claims Action against Mr.Crawford for the repair work to the carport.  His reply to me was to file Bankruptcy.  This is the second time he has done this to his creditors.  This behavior causes me to think that he is a truly disreputable person.  Had he been an honorable man, he would have corrected the damage to theproject.  All that  was required was labor.  Also the $2,500 taken for work never performed could have been worked out on other projects. 

I'm in Palmdale CA, 15th Street W. and Avenue O.  Sure glad I found United Carports!  Great customer service, Diane promptly answered my many questions.  We communicated mostly by email with a few phone calls.  She promptly adjusted price based on my several changes to specifications and options.  Price was VERY good compared to others after much online shopping and estimates from local contractors.  I got the certified plans from United Carports and used those plans to get the permit for LA County (a "learning experience").   I was quite nervous about the down payment and $500 for the plans as I didn't know if plans would be approved.  After a couple of mods to the plans and about $3500 to the County, they were approved much to my relief.  It took about 3 months for County to approve them. After finally getting approved plans,  I got a local contractor for the concrete floor, he just followed the plans and did an excellent job.  Then United Carports sent out a team to put up the building.  It took about 2 1/2 days.  It was obviously an experienced installation team with 2 to 6 installers working on it at any given time.  I'm VERY happy with the results, it is rated for 110 mph winds per County requirements for Antelope Valley so it is a little more sturdy than the standard frame.   The building isn't perfect but I didn't expect perfection for the price.  The building is sound and was wind/rain tested a couple of days after the install.  I got some drafts and blow-in around the bottom base rail.  I asked United Carports about methods for better sealing .  I was just looking for some tips on getting a better seal and fully expected to do it myself.  But the next day one of the owners made the 4-hour round trip to my house to help with sealing!  Awesome customer support after the install!  The standard roll-up doors are a bit "cheesy" but quite serviceable.  I ordered optional seals around them but they still won't be sealed well around the sides.  For the price, I didn't expect any better.  If I decide better roll-up doors are needed in the future, then it appears it won't be  difficult to replace them. Windows and walk-in doors were good quality. Overall, a great experience working with United Carports customer service and the installation team.  I am quite impressed with the final product, it exceeds my expectations.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Superior Home Remodeling added garage to our house. They gave us very acceptable price for that job and they also installed roof on our new garage. Isaac was our project manager, he was very helpful and professional. There were some unexpected issues but Isaac resolved everything quickly. The project was finished on time and the price was same as we agreed at the start. We are very happy with our new garage, thank you Superior!!

This company built an addition to my house. I was very patient while was searching for contractor for that job and finally found a good one. We agreed about a price and my requests so soon they started to work on a project. The working crew was well organized, professional and quick. I thought it would last longer but they finished on time. I am specially impressed with quality of work they did, top notch. Highly recommend H&A My Design, they are excellent company!

Save yourself grief and avoid this company. I am an owner builder (36x60 shop) and was connected with Encore via the broker I used to purchase the kit (The Steel Builder, Chico California: avoid this company too). Below are a few of the issues. Promised repeatedly it would be a five- to six-week delivery time. Actual was ten. First delivery was incomplete (no siding or trim). I was not provided a master manifest and delivery schedule, and therefore was not aware of what was missing. Contacted Encore after about six days to enquire on siding. Many components (about 5%) were mis-marked (didn’t match plans) and lengths of several did not match their labels. A few of the purlin weld tabs on the rigid frame were welded to the wrong side of the mark; about 3/8 inch off. Several items, such as gable end angle to support siding, were not addressed in plans: we fabricated substitute supports from extra base angle. One of the column base plates was not square with the column (frame line 2). Only way to correct this is with shims, which the county inspector said would need to be engineered into the plans. Siding took an additional two weeks to receive, which required me to extend the rental of two scissor lifts ($800 cost). Ridge caps did not arrive until the structure was nearly complete; had to buy $200 worth of tarps to protect exposed insulation from rain. Trim and soffit components. Received partial delivery with unmarked components (they are supposed to be labeled to match the plans). The driver handed me a stack of sticky labels and it took ½ day to figure out where everything went. The building is now done, lift equipment is now gone, and I’ve still not received soffits and eve trim. Comms: Encore representative Ric Solis did what he could to patch things up, but had been thrown into the equation late in the transaction (the original guy left the company). Lastly, I was looking for a US-manufactured building and was originally told this kit was would come from Atwater, California. Ultimately, the rigid frame and components came from Texas but were manufactured in Mexico. I should have asked the specific question, "Is this made in USA?"

Save yourself grief and avoid this company. I am an owner builder and went through this company to buy a 36x60 shop building. Dan Hayes, the owner, acted as the broker, sourcing the structure from Encore Steel Buildings (avoid this firm as well), roll-up door, man doors, insulation, etc. from other vendors. A lot of confident talk up to the point I wrote the $30,000 check and received the first delivery (which was three weeks late). That is when things fell apart. I only received the rigid frame; no roofing, siding, trim, etc. Unaware that all should have arrived together (didn’t receive a master manifest or delivery schedule), I contacted Dan after about six days to query where when I would receive side and roof sheeting (rigid structure was done). He said I needed to go through Encore. We had major issues with deliveries (items not arriving, mis-directed, late, etc.) as well as problems with Encore (mis-marked, missing, or incorrectly fabricated components). Late deliveries required me to me to extend the rental of two scissor lifts for another month ($800 cost). I requested reimbursement for the lifts; receive no response. Trim and soffit components. It has been two months, the building is now done, rental equipment is now gone, and I’ve still not received soffits and eve trim. Through all of this, Dan Hayes has been nearly silent during dozens of emails regarding vendor/product problems; a non-participant in my troubles. My contract was with The Steel Builder, they received my $30k check, and as the broker Dan was ultimately responsible for the actions of his subcontractors and vendors. He failed; disappointing and costly on my behalf.

Excellent!  Would do it again as long as Seth Gue was our contractor.  Would NOT use anyone else.

The experience was very good. They listened and they had a dialogue; they didn't just charge in and want to do it their way.

We are very pleased with the work.  The house is up but we are still finishing it up.  Robert and his crew are very professional, he is a great communicator and is on the job site everyday.
