We had a severely clogged kitchen drain. We tried resolving the problem ourselves by plunging, snaking, and eventually using Drano. Nothing worked and, after two failed Drano treatments, we finally decided to cave in and pay a professional. We visited Angie's list and picked 3 companies. I called Armstrong and asked for a rough estimate on what it might cost to get the kitchen drain cleared and look into an issue we were having with our sump pump. I was hesitant to mention the water hammer problem in the bathroom because I simply didn't want to spend more money and, frankly, thought it was something I could take care of, but I discussed it anyway. I'm glad I did. More on that later. The estimator was very professional, asked good pertinent questions (such as the condition of our pipes, etc) and provided a range between $90 and $135. I decided to schedule an appointment and was transferred to the appt scheduler. My phone disconnected but I called back and, by that time, the scheduler had already received my paperwork from the estimator and knew exactly what my situation was. The entire operation seemed very efficient and professional unlike most of my dealings with service companies and contractors (stories for another day). I called the other 2 higly rated companies just for comparison. One said that they may need to refer me to another company for the sump pump problem. The other company had a very gruff person answering the phone who was very short with me. So these 2 were very easy to dismiss. On the day of our scheduled service (next day), Peter called stating that he'd finished his morning job earlier than expected and was wondering if he could swing by early, which wasn't a problem with us. Peter was very professional and polite. Cleared the kitchen clog easily by snaking from the outdoor kitchen cleanout. Tested our sump pump and found an obstruction (I looked down there before - not sure how I didn't catch this). The water hammer problem had a simple solution as well. I was glad we had them look into it as I would have taken apart the faucet to look for an obstruction and wasted a bunch of my time when it took him just a minute. Overall, very good and professional service from start to finish. They run an excellent operation and we've definitely found our new plumbers. NOTE: The price I quoted above was with Angie's 10% discount.
