Curtis Roofing Inc

I had a very positive experience with Curtis Roofing. My neighbor, who owns the other side of my halfplex, and I both had Curtis roofing replace our roofs for $6,000 each. Their bid came in second to lowest, but we chose them anyway because John, the company rep we worked with, made us feel confident in their ability to do a good job and John himself came across as a very sincere and honest individual. In fact, John was the only estimator to tell us we did not need to replace the gutters; all the other estimates included new gutters. Curtis Roofing came out as scheduled and completed the job with no surprises. During the three to four day process I called John several times with questions or concerns (for example, how would they deal with the dish on my roof?, then later, could they remove the dish?, etc.). Each time I called, John was either readily avialable or immediately called me back and was always responsive to my questions and concerns with followed through. When the job was complete, I called John to find out when they would do their final cleanup. I was surprised to hear they already had because there was roofing nails all over the ground, tile packages in the bushes, and debre from the gutter cleanout on the side of my fence and house. Without any hesitation, John had the crew come out again and do a complete job.

Reliable Roofing

Reliable Roofing is a GREAT COMPANY to work with!!! I am so happy I hired them to fix my roof. Let me tell you why. I had a relatively small roofing project involving replacement of plywood underlayment along the gutters in the eves that had rotted, and about 100 feet of 2x10 fascia boards that were also rotten. I had several contractors in to evaluate the damage and offer cost estimates. I was surprised by the quotes, which seemed unreasonably high, and the attitude of a couple guys who were only interested in putting on a completely new roof instead of the limited repairs I actually needed. Reliable Roofing was different. Ramiro, the owner, came out to the house and actually listened to what I wanted done, and then offered suggestions on improving my plan. When the price was quoted, and the work explained, I brought them on immediately and cancelled the other appointments for estimates because I knew I had found the right people for the job. I wasn’t disappointed either… they have been absolutely great!! The Reliable Roofing crew was able to come out to my project right away, and I was immediately impressed with how they worked. They were professional yet friendly, and very knowledgeable. They arrived and got straight on task. Ramiro (the owner) stayed on-site to be sure the project got off on the right track and the work was being done to the specs we had outlined. The crew worked hard and got the everything done in a single day. Once they were done I was extremely impressed with the quality of their work, the job turned out beautifully. I don’t usually do reviews, but what follows is the real reason I’m writing one today for Reliable Roofing. During the course of repairs, once the shingles were removed, there was more dry rot present in the plywood base layer than I thought, which would need to be replaced. I wasn’t surprised to hear this, but still feared how much my invoice would be adjusted due to the extra work. Faced with a dynamic situation, there isn’t much a homeowner can do except hoping the extra charges are reasonable. This is the proof of a company’s fairness, at least to me, and Reliable Roofing didn’t let me down. The additional charges were small given the extra labor and materials, and I was happy they brought the issues to my attention so I could have them fixed, especially since they didn’t gouge me for having it done on the fly. It’s also interesting to note that my neighbor liked them so much after watching them work on my home that they hired them for a complete re-roofing right there on the spot… just like I did! Reliable Roofing is everything a contractor should be but so often isn’t. Ramiro has been in business for about a year, so I am particularly happy to provide this review in the hope that they get lots of well-deserved business! I give them my highest recommendation, both professionally and personally, and I’ve used a few contractors to know the good from the bad. Use Reliable Roofing for your projects large and small… they will do a great job for a reasonable price, and you absolutely won’t be disappointed!!

Tom Yancey Company

BEWARE!!!!! We are posting a brief review to caution people about the Tom Yancey Company. We will be posting a review very soon with explicit details, photos, and videos. He is NOT trustworthy and not regarded highly among his own peers. He has lied to me blatantly and installed damaged gutters from day one. Their work has been causing water penetration since the time of installation. We have been struggling since then to understand where the water was coming from. At first we thought it was the windows or siding and were ready to plow 20k into our house. We since have learned it is Tom Yancey's poor workmanship of the roof, gutters, and a vent that are the culprit. He has seen these areas and offered a "fix" but is it even close to what needs to be done to repair the areas. MORE SOON!!

They did a very good job, very quick and efficient. The original estimate was about $8,000 plus time and materials for the repairs to the plywood and rafter. They replaced about 25% of the plywood, there was a lot of damage along the roofline and at a couple of leaks I had repaired over the years. I had a minor issue with the rain gutter drainage after it was installed, and they came out and put in additional downspouts for free. They were recommended to me by a neighbor who had is roof done by them a couple of years ago.

Installation was very quick. A single installer removed the old asphalt roofing and installed a TPO membrane. It has been in place for one month, with 6 inches of rain, and zero problems. I think the trick was running the TPO up and under the surrounding asphalt shingles.

The job started when Jeff said it would. He was very professional. His quote was reasonable. The crew did the job in an efficient manner and cleaned up when they were done. They repaired several leaks and installed new gutter along one side of the roof. When the work was done he allowed me to send him a check since we live out of state. Great job with no issues. He even repaired some dry rot w no additional charge.

They didn't tell me anything about my roof and charged me to come out to quote me a price. They didn't end up finishing the job because when they started, I was to scared to let them go on because they had no idea what they were doing. I felt the price was very unfair considering I have had other roofs done and I know a little about them. I felt like I knew more than what they did when I was asking questions. They are a rip off. They told me the only reason why the price was so high is because I wouldn't let them leave their sign outside of my house for advertisement.

R and R was the low bidder. There were some time constraints and Rick accommodated our needs by sending an extra crew one day. The crews were very responsive to our requirements and suggestions, and worked steadily and efficiently. Roof jobs are not cheap, but I would say we got our value out of the job.

Recent Review: Jose was very professional and did a great job. We had multiple projects from out buildings with metal roofs to our home shingle roof. He gave a clear estimate, stuck to it, came on time, communicated well and did a great job. He cleaned up after himself very carefully. Prices were very fair. I highly recommend this company.

Recent Review: Met with Adam for an estimate, he was the primary contact. They were the lowest estimate, so I decided to go with them. Work was scheduled for about 2 weeks later. I work during the day, so never saw the workers, except for first thing in the morning as I was leaving. The work was done well, and within the time frame estimated. Luckily, the 50 year old house had only a small amount of wood that needed to be replaced-yeah!. After the roof was done, I was waiting for the city of Huntington Beach to come out and do the final inspection and was not too happy to find out that the city building inspector requires that a ladder be furnished for the final inspection-seriously??? What building inspector doesn't have their own ladder??-but this review is not about them. Adam arranged to have a ladder brought out to my house and rescheduled the inspection, so now everything is completed and I didn't have to borrow or buy a ladder. That extra effort made my day!

Recent Review: Great professional service from start to finish. The salesman was very through and quoted a very reasonable price compared to other quotes we got. The wait for the job took three months, October to December. I wish we could have done it sooner. The roofing crew was wonderful. The foreman was excellent. He kept us informed of the process and progress. He was accurate in his predictions of how long it would take and made suggestions on modifications to improve the appearance. Work site clean up was well done.
