I called because my dishwasher wasn't getting the dishes clean anymore. I was told the service fee was ~$80 and no additional work would be performed without a written quote. We set up an appointment for Friday afternoon. Thursday afternoon I got a call asking if it would work for them to come that day between 4 and 5. I was delighted. Then I got a call from the service tech at 3:30 saying he'd be at my house in 10 minutes. As I wasn't home yet I asked if he could wait on me til 4. After a long explanation of why he was running early he said he guessed he could wait--sounding rather put out about it. I was able to rush what I was doing and arrive home early--just minutes before he did. He was very polite and professional when he came in . As he got to looking at the dishwasher he spent the better part of 30 min explaining to me that it looked like nothing major was wrong and we needed to scrape the plates better and run hot water first. I was pretty frustrated with this information and he was very patient in explaining to me all the whys. As he continued examining the dishwasher he discovered that the top arm wasn't spinning and set to work figuring out why. He was able to find and dislodge and clog and was great to explain to me each step along the way. In the end he got it spinning again, ran it on a power cycle with some vinegar and Lemi-Shine (that he sold me) to help cut the grease. At this point he told me the total was $130. The service fee, the cost of the Lemi-Shine, and the additional cost of his time fixing the dishwasher. This frustrated me as I was under the impression that he spent that time trying to figure out WHAT was wrong and it was therefore covered under the initial service fee. Later that night when the load was done running, I emptied the few items that had been in and found one glass horribly dirty. The other items were clean though so I decided to run it a few more times and see what happened. As it stands now the dishes typically come out cleaner than they did before the servicing but not as clean as I expect. I have been very conscious of scraping dishes and running hot water so I am feeling some frustration over the lack of stellar improvement. Because of the miscommunication encountered both with scheduling and the cost I have been reluctant to call service company back. So I can't speak, yet, to how the company would handle a follow-up.
