I found Verble Drywall on Angie's List along with another Drywall contractor. Requested bids from both contractors and found Verble Drywall was $45 higher than the competitive bid. However, the $45 was definitely well spent. Kevin Verble, owner/operator of Verble Drywall, was prompt to the initial meeting, well organized, and neat in appearance. He listened attentively as I described the wallpaper residue, etc which remained and then numerous nail holes, ceiling plant hangers etc and afterward explained how he would finish the walls so there was no hint of wallpaper residue. The walls would be perfectly smooth he said. He took some measurements and said he would email a quote. After receiving his quote I arranged to have the work done. I wish I had taken pictures before and after. No one would believe these were the same walls. Verble Drywall finished the drywall in my bathroom. Before they began, the walls had been stripped of the old pink shoulder high tile, concrete, and lathe and replaced with new drywall. The problem was not only to finish the new drywall (tape, mud, and sand) but also to do something to repair/smooth the upper portion of the old drywall which had lots of wallpaper residue. (for a surface, imagine the rough dry cracked appearance of the desert floor in dime sized pieces hanging on your wall, permanently). Kevin explained how they would spackle the old drywall and something in the drywall mix would cause the old crusty wallpaper residue to "bubble up." Then they would scrap off that layer and repeat to get to a smooth finish. And then there were the "joints" between the bottom of the old drywall and where the new drywall ended. Some "joints" were several inches. (Normally, they are butted against each other) but not in this case. Bottom line, the bathroom wall turned out flawless. Not a dimple, ridge, or seam in sight. It made my bathroom look like a whole new room to the house. I am ecstatic and have told several people about the transformation of this room.
