Faced with a non-functioning upstairs toilet and dripping old kitchen faucet with holiday guests on the way, I was grateful that Dave found time to help me. Once I purchased the necessary items, Dave kept me informed as to when he could come. He and his son went straight to the tasks. His son handled the upstairs issues: removal of old toilet and installing new one, connecting new smoke detector and new ceiling light. Dave tackled the kitchen faucet that, though Home Depot had suggested would be a 15-minute DIY job, was a challenge as after 35 years the nuts and bolts had fused together. Difficult to reach and immovable, Dave finally was able to drill through the nuts to extract the old faucet. Despite the discomfort and frustration, he kept up his sense of humor. So glad I hadn't attempted it myself! They were meticulous in clean up, and asked me to watch for leaks in case further tightening was needed. When a small leak occurred between the toilet base and tank, Dave responded quickly. I have many larger projects ahead which I discussed with Dave. He referred me to another company which specializes in tub-to-shower conversions, but I will call on him again when I am ready replace some doors and complete trim work. I look forward to using his services again.

They were on time and well prepared. A few of the guys were not either careful or experienced enough, so some of the trim was missed or had brush marks. However, Steve (the owner) was very professional about fixing everything I pointed out. Finishing the trim was delayed (no fault of theirs) until our move-in was completed and some baseboards and stairs were installed by other contractors. Restoration was very good about fixing some of the moving damage, and damage made by the flooring contractor -- at no additional charge. I separately paid them to do some additional sheetrock repairs -- unrelated to their original scope. This was a ceiling patch in an area not otherwise being painted. The guy that did this was masterful, and one has to look carefully to see the patch. I found Steve to be professional and honest.

Not so great. If you want blue tarp, trailer park workmanship, give them a call. If you want good as new craftsmanship, call a real professional. They arrived an hour late, at least they called at the scheduled time to notify me of their late arrival. The ceiling repair has an obvious lump in it. The wall repair has a ripple in the corner, and they left the texture uneven and tool imprints. I had to make them install the trim properly and clean up, still, they left trash in my garage. After 5 hours of baby sitting them, I just wanted them to leave.

The price, the materials to be used and the time it would take to complete the project was established and agreed upon. I paid the contractor 50% up front (my first mistake). Without describing every inappropriate, ludicrous and often indecipherable correspondence over the next three days, suffice it to say that the job was a total mess. The entire room was covered with sheetrock mud and sanding dust, wall texture and paint after he "cleaned up" (the only two pieces of furniture in the room (bed and dresser) had not been draped or covered). There is over-sprayed texture on the crown molding, several areas of paint on the ceiling, trim and adjacent walls (which are a contrasting color), balls of used tape lying around, tracked in gravel, and sheet rock dust and paint splattered on the floor - all of which he insists he cleaned! This was a nightmare every step of the way. DO NOT let this guy in your house or business. DO NOT HIRE HIM FOR THE SIMPLEST JOB.

Arrived at appointed time. Worked efficiently and effectively. Showed me the old motor/fan unit he removed, heavily encrusted with dirt and grime. Who knew you were supposed to vacuum the unit once in awhile to prolong it's life? Mr. Perry took pictures of the repairs and E-mailed them to me as this was part of a pre-sale home inspection I had done to prepare the house for sale. So; saved me money, did the repairs as needed, and I got a free lesson in exhaust fan maintenance. Pretty good deal.

There aren't enough words to describe the quality work, professionalism, attention to detail that James provided for us. We stumbled onto James accidentally through a personal Craigslist purchase and he was upfront during our conversation as we had been looking for someone to conduct some projects around the house. With the purchase of a new house, we needed a fenced yard for our dog and he was very quick to get back with me with a quote and installed the whole fence in 2 days to include the cemented post fittings. He is very particular on the quality of his work and provides nothing less than what you want or expect. The next project we called him for was to install some shelves in the garage area. We have a very high ceiling in the garage and I asked him if he could build some shelves all the way around the top third of the walls to the ceiling. It turned out even better than expected and James seems to accept every challenge giving to him. The next project I asked him for me to conduct was to build me a storage shed outside approximately 10' x 16'. He was very in tune with what I wanted and he even ensure it matched the siding of the house and current paint scheme. He even build it on self-leveling concrete post for adjustment for ground settle if needed. This turned out to be a great piece of work and compliments our house as well. Our most recent project for him was to install back splash in our kitchen and upgrade our fireplace with a new custom made log mantle and brick tile the entire height of the ceiling. This has been the best improvement to our house and certainly made it pop as you walk into our house. James has a lot of tricks in his bag to tackle any challenge thrown at him and his work amazes me from start to finish. We actually started treating him like family as we trusted him with our house key lock box combo. As I read in someone else's review, I had to chase him down several times to pay him myself. James will perform and provide exactly what you want first rather than find things to run up your tab. In fact, he has made several suggestion over the tenure for ways to save or discuss cheaper options. I would and DO highly recommend James for any projects needed around your house. I wish I could only post some photos of all of his work and you would be very impressed. And not to mention the many things he did for us like hanging wildlife mounts and outside decor without charging me. It's kind of hard to put a price because he's done other odds and ends. He's hung a moose head on a wall, one of my outdoor things was crooked, so he just climbed up and rehung it so it was level without even asking. I won't use anybody else. He's a licensed contractor and he's getting ready to get his electrical license as well. On to find my next project...finishing the basement!
