Top Rung Handyman Services Inc

Pete [owner of Top Rung Handyman Services] did an awesome job! He arrived right on time at our prearranged time. He immediately set to work preparing the walls that requried to have an electrical junction box [j-box] installed in each wall to support the new light fixture installations. The previous light fixtures installed in these rooms did not require an electrical j-box as the fixture itself was deemed to be the j-box. He was creative in his solution in installing the electrical j-box in the downstairs powder room. The location that the box needed to be located was impeded by a large drain vent pipe and a poly water line behind the drywall. He came up with a very robust yet easy solution to avoid the vent pipe and water line and still be able to install a pancake electrical j-box in the exact location that it needed to be so that it would support the weight and location of the new light fixture. He did an outstanding job in the drywall repair, texturing, and painting required in the downstairs powder room. The light fixture installation in the upstairs guest bathroom did not require any drywall repair as the new electrical j-box was able to be installed with a minimum of drywall removal. The installation of both of the new light fixtures look very professional as if they were part of the original build of the home. You can't go wrong with employing Top Rung Handyman Services for any services you require. Pete is a perfectionist and won't leave the job at hand until it meets his stringent requirements and the Customer's complete satisfaction

Stevan was the handyman. He arrived on time, even a little early (which is OK with me). I showed him what I needed done and he got right to work. He was great about keeping me posted on progress and asking me questions about my preferences. He needed to go to the store a couple times for some supplies that I didn't have. I changed my mind about how high I wanted the backsplash to go, after he finished doing what I asked, and he had no problem adding to the height. He was extremely friendly and courteous. The workmanship was perhaps not as good as what I hoped for. There was silicone squeezing out between the sink and the vanity that did not get cleaned up, and he wasn't particularly careful about cleaning the mortar out from between the tiles, but to be fair, after I finished the grouting, you really can't tell the difference. Also, when he was finished, he came out and reported "only one mess-up." This was a glass piece that is adhered to the side of the medicine cabinet. Apparently he didn't get it moved into position in time, so it is raised about 1/8" above the top of the medicine cabinet. I was disappointed, but in all honesty, it's barely noticeable. In terms of "mess-ups" this is a pretty small one. I really appreciate that he told me instead of letting me discover the slight mistake. The job took about 4 hours, including the trips to the hardware store. I would probably use their services again, although perhaps not for detail work. Overall I am happy with the work completed and the time it took to get it done. I was planning to DIY, but just couldn't get it together to deal with it. This was way faster, for sure

Outstanding in every respect. Bill and his team did a great job. We got three quotes. Bill offered the lowest price, but we actually chose him because he seemed the best, so the low price was just a bonus. The guys on his team are all friendly, punctual, professional and competent. We felt comfortable having them come and go in our house when we weren't around. The work is extremely high quality. Everything came out even better than we expected. There were a couple of minor issues that came up (e.g. a drawer that didn't fit around a pipe and needed to be worked on) and Bill listened and got things fixed right away. We would recommend Northridge without hesitation

American Five Star Plumbing

Steve Linville handled a plumbing repair for an issue that was caught during a home inspection for the home we were purchasing in 4/2010. He needed to switch condensation drain and drip-pan drain - mixed up by KB (builder). I called Steve because we had called his company when he was then known as G&R Plumbing. His partner retired - hence, new company name American Five Star Plumbing. I first met Steve when we called G&R Plumbing because of a leak at our main water pipe for the house we were selling on the NW side of town January 2010. I received a call at work from my neighbor that water was pouring out of the ground near the ground water meter box . Steve worked with his partner, and fixed the leak pronto. Which was great for us since we had just placed the house on the market. We were very happy with the service, cost, etc. I don't recall the costs, but I remember it was very reasonable for the work required to repair the break in the pipe. Because of this first great experience, we called the company again in April 2010, and discovered the new company name due to the reason noted above. I have used American Five Star Plumbing since we have been in the newer house in 2015 when we had a plumbing leak bathroom vanity. Again - same great service, and reasonable costs. We will continue to use Steve for our plumbing needs

A VERY NICE CONSTRUCTION CO
5.0
Roger is friendly, thorough and understands our needs. As we are not on site all the time, he communicates over the phone and email and we meet with him monthly so far. There is a ton of work for him and he fits us in between his other regular clients. We are delighted with this arrangement as it allows Roger to work at his own pace once we set the priorities. We were happy to have a working bathroom and finished bedroom for our stay last week, and all the money we saved on hotels will go to Roger for future renovations to the house. During the last storm he discovered a leak and kept it from destroying our carpets. He is meticulous and cleans up after his work. We are very pleased with Roger and just wish we were his only clients! During the winter, you need to schedule him in advance. We are expecting Roger to assist with a complete kitchen renovation as well as a patio slab and specialized patio roof, and a complete roof repair all after the first of the year. I just wish he could clone himself for us..

I had bought a house that was constructed in 1954 and it was in serious need of a total bathroom remodel. My first mistake was hiring someone who was referred to me by a "friend" who was not a licensed contractor. I don't know where to begin with that, but let me just say the entire bathroom needed to be regutted and the work started over. Needless to say, I was traumatized. I found Bill and Northridge Homes on Angie's List. I had received another estimate, but after my first go around with the remodeling from h***, I felt I needed to go with someone who I felt I could trust. Bill was that person. He just pretty much tells you like it is, doesn't sugar coat, and doesn't try to over sell himself. He is just straight up to the point, and his word is his word. The people who work for him were always on time, are respectful of the fact that it is your home they are in, are very professional, and do the job right the first time...like it should be. Not only did they do the job right, they also fixed things that were going on with routing of the plumbing between the kitchen and bath. Not because it had to be done, but because it just wasn't the way it was suppose to be. Enough said. After making such a fool decision the first time around, I felt I needed to ask about a hundred questions. And you what, Bill answered them all. He was always gracious when taking my calls and I felt it was a true working relationship. I would not hesitate to use Bill and Northridge Home Services again. As a matter of fact, when I get ready to remodel my kitchen, Bill will be the only one I call. End of story

Abracadabra Restoration
1.0
Prior to Abracadabra beginning the work, a company called First something or other came to explain what would be happening and promised we would be happy with the provider and additionally promised an extended warranty on the work to be done. Once they left, Abracadabra project manager, Carlos Reyes, phoned to set up the first appt. for the men to start work. Because they did not arrive when they said they would, I was disturbed as I had to leave work to meet them at my home. There solution to this was for me to place a house key in a lock box so they could come and go as their schedule allowed without interfering with my schedule. Although, I do not like to be away from a project when it is going on, after 2 more times of the workers not arriving when scheduled, I agreed to place my key in the lock box. It was a mistake. As I was often not home when the workers arrived, I could not monitor the proceedings. For example, when i pointed out that the drywall dust, and plaster were being tracked back and forth on my red concrete floors and sisal carpet between bathroom and front entrance, their response was to put down a black grease stained painters canvas cloth to cover my floors. I found my own floor covering and replaced theirs with mine. In spite of covering the walkway, they were still able to get plaster and paint on my living room floors as well as the floors of the rooms they were painting. I instructed the painters that original paint colors and sheens were under the bathroom vanity as the bathroom had been completely remodeled 4 years prior to this water line break and I found it easier to keep the paint cans where they might be needed again. Additionally the hallway paint can was there for necessary touch ups. Instead of using the cans as a guide for color matching or formula numbers listed on each can, the painters took pieces of cut out drywall to their paint shop to color match. When I returned home the hallway color was completely wrong and the bathroom color was close but not spot on as it could have been had they just used the original cans as a guide for making the new paint. Worst of all was the fact that NO cleanup of dust, drywall particles, etc was made prior to repainting of walls. The drywall texture in the large bathroom is smooth so particles, globs of dust and hairs are easily seem on the eggshell painted smooth finish walls of the bathroom. Many spots on the walls were untouched with paint and white drywall could be seen. Also, there was much paint to be cleaned up off the white tile floors. The large mirror above the vanity had paint on it as did the light fixture above the mirror. When I asked about it, I was asked, "How do you know that wasn't done the first time the bathroom was painted?" I thought I would faint from the shock of such a question. However, I did tell them that when the bathroom was completely remodeled and rewired, the walls were painted before the mirror and the fixture were installed, hence there was no paint on either mirror or light fixture. GRRRRRR Carlos Reyes, project manager reported to me that there is never any preprinting cleaning of a remodel site as clean up is only done at the completion of a project because it would be too costly to clean twice and most home owners know that. Carlos Reyes must be related to the owner of Abracadabra because his customer service is so poor and argumentative that is it is hard to believe he could continue to be employed on customer relations scores. In fact, I had a visitor in my home the last time Carlos Reyes was in my home to look at some of the concerns I had about the workmanship and when Mr. Reyes left my house, my visitor commented, "That man must have job security with the company because if he was my employee, he would be fired for being so argumentative.
I wasn't even sure a plumber was the right service to call for safety grab-bars, but the receptionist helped me out right away. When the plumber came to do the job, he was able to complete some attempted do-it-myself jobs in the same bath that were going awry. By the time he left, my elderly mother had her private bath safely up and running. He even suggested placing an additional grab-bar on the vanity, next to the toilet, and that has been a big help. I've come to trust this service without question

They arrived promptly and gave a written estimate on the spot. They got started within a couple of hours and hooked up a temporary water line so that we had water again. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and communicated clearly every step along the way. I could not have hoped for a better experience
