PERFORMANCE STEEL BUILDINGS
The builder did not follow the approved building permit, the plans were incorrect, and the work was not complete. (No attachment to the house, as required.) That was not discovered at the final inspection but was discovered about a year later, long after I had paid for the work in full. When the Code Inspector gave me a Notice of Violation I contacted Performance Steel Buildings to get it corrected. They were not interested in helping complete the job as contracted and to meet the City Code requirements. Because of their refusal to correct their mistakes I had to either hire an attorney and take them to court or pay an additional fee to an engineer for corrections to the plans and a second set of fees for another building and DDO permit. This cost me approximately $1500.00 above and beyond the contracted amount. I had to deal with a Tucson City Code Inspector inspector and go to the City Court because of their failures. It was a nightmare. Beware. Once they get your money there is no follow up support if anything goes wrong with the construction

Grey Colt Construction LLC
This could not have gone better. Their work is very affordable, lower than other estimates. The quality of work is quite high. Importantly, the workers were friendly, polite, timely, cleaned up after themselves, and were never a bother. I highly recommend this company across the board.

Kaiser Garage Doors & Gates
Chose the door. Got an estimate. Set a date for installation. Just before the date called to confirm. Was told the door not in stock, had to be sent from Phoenix. Waited about 10 days. New date set. Arrived on time. Installation completed in one working day. A few minor imperfections in the door framing (e.g., protruding nails, minor misalignments corrected by me in caulking/painting.) but sturdy and well constructed. Door runs nicely

Workers showed up on time and ready to work every day that they were scheduled. The contractor was well prepared with supplies and instructions for his employees. The whole project was finished in a timely fashion.

Very well. Once they had the permits they proceeded in a very well organized manner with no big gaps in progress. Main worker was quite skilled and easy to deal with. Masons had a problem but came back and fixed it, including working on Saturday.

CARDI GROUP LTD
Fairway Homes West/ Reality Homes (Fairway Homes West is a subsidiary of Realty Homes based in Washington state. Fairway Homes West is located in Arizona. We are in Arizona. Only the salesman and a build supervisor are in Arizona, which we quickly found out) We signed a contract with Fairway Homes West/ Reality Homes for a 1500 sq foot home to be built on our land. Fairway Homes West (FHW)/ Reality Homes(RH) is unique as they are not a turn-key home builder. They build from the concrete to the roof and all other items are considered “Owner Items”. This provides a level of complexity with getting a construction loan that was at no time explained to us by FHW at the time that we signed a contract and paid then a $5,000 deposit. During the process of getting the home loan we paid out of pocket for the deposit, which included re-engineering of the plans with our changes, the septic plan and permits, excavation of the home site and building the dirt pad, and the building permits. When we applied for the permits the county informed us that the footers on our plans were too shallow. FHW/RH then re-engineered the plans to account for the extended turndowns for the footers. This was done in October 2019. Then Covid hit and everything slowed down. We were finally closing on our loan in October 2020 when FHW/RH informed us of a price increase of around 12%. We approve the price increase. In January 2021, our bank called RH for final numbers for the loan and were provided with the same numbers and were told everything was on track for us to close. There was a slight delay with Title being behind. This is the only reason this all didn’t happen after closing. RH contacted us to tell us there would be an additional $20,000 increase and since we already closed on our loan, they will take personal payments from us. We tried contacting RH for an explanation. It took them 6 weeks to return our calls. Their explanation is that they did not account for the additional footers, which are on our re-engineered plans we received in Oct 2019, which we paid for permits for. When we explained we did not have an extra $20,000 sitting around they actually contacted our bank to see if they could have the funds allocated for “owner items” (Items we are responsible for paying for, that are part of the build). The bank said no. The one agreement we came to was that we could reallocate the full foundation and footers to an “owner item” and see if we could get a lower bid. They confirmed 3 times that if we did that, they would remove the amount they originally quoted for the foundation and that would move to an “Owner Item” just like the excavation was. They gave us 3 weeks to do this or they would cancel our contract. We did find a lower bid. When we asked for an addendum to be drafted they informed us that if we contracted our own licensed and bonded contractor for the foundation (as they told us to do) they would void all of our builder warranties. But if we let them hire the contractor and pay RH an additional $6,000+ then they would honor the warranties. When we said no their argument was “It’s only $6,000.” They stated we could keep the plans and have someone else build it, or they would return our $5,000 deposit if we returned the plans. We have already paid over $20,000 in permits and excavation that is attached to building this house. I want to be clear that our complaint is not due to the cost of materials increase, which we approved, or even in their lack of up front communication. Our complaint is that we have plans provided in October 2019, and a price updated in October of 2020 and they will not abide by that. At no point did we ask for anything more than was on the plans provided by FHW/RH for the agreed upon price. We made a complaint to the Attorney General and RH responded by threatening us, saying they will take legal action for US breaching the agreement by not paying them an additional $20,000 over the agreed upon price. There are other complains with similar issues to the ones we have had. [*** Link removed ***] [*** Link removed ***] [*** Link removed ***

We were given professional treatment from the beginning to the end. We needed to get a zoning variance, they walked it through for us. After we got the variance, they began the work and kept up a steady pace until the work was done. Their subs were excellent; the contractors did a good job of overseeing the work, and everything was completed to our satisfaction. They also added a few tasks that came up after the original contract was signed, and they did them at a good price. We did keep up with what needed to be done, and they were responsive to our prodding. We have asked them to bid on adding a carport to the front of our house

Easy to work with. Kept us informed even when we were out of town during the building process. They were on top of all problems and offered solid solutions.
The folks at Decks and Things just demolished my old deck and built a new and slightly larger one. The new deck is elevated and is about 12 x 24. They did and outstanding job from beginning to end and were a joy to work with. They consistently exceeded my expectations on all aspects of the job. I would recommend them without reservation!
We are extremely pleased with our new 9-foot-wide insulated garage door and opener. Ken came to our Green Valley home to hear what we wanted and to explain various options. He then took measurements and got information from us about the paint color we wanted. At the office, JR kept us informed about when the door would be ready to install and Sue was very pleasant and efficient in handling the contract and billing. Jeff did the installation and carefully explained how the two remote controls and the wall unit work. Minutes later, Ken came by and spray-painted the door, which matches the garage and house perfectly. By the way, the equipment has been working without problem since being installed four weeks ago. Based on the many reviews I had read at several websites beforehand, I had high expectations. But the team at Overhead Door Company of Tucson and S. Arizona still managed to wow me. Thanks for your expertise and great customer service
I was impressed by the responsiveness and care given. The men who came were courteous and professional in manner and took care to explain what they were going to do and why. The work was completed in what I would call a reasonable amount of time.. I would definitely recommend them to others. Thank you
Philip (GC) used a great painting crew. I've contracted several painting jobs over the past 15 years and these guys were, hands down, the best. They were knowledgeable, customer oriented, did a great paint job, and left a spotless job site. 5 stars from me! Philip also proved to be on top of the job. Reviewed my needs before the job, and followed up after the job was completed to assure satisfaction. Very professional
My interior design firm recently had the pleasure of working with Kathy Lyle and Kathy Nieto (affectionately referred to as ?The Two Kathys?) of Interior Trends Remodel and Design on a large-scale remodel of a residence in Tucson. We became involved after work had begun and many decisions were already underway. From the start, I was impressed not only by the Two Kathys' welcoming, collaborative approach to the project but also their honest, no-nonsense work ethic. Their design plan was spot-on; their work schedule was thoughtfully well-organized; and their staff was personable and attentive. Regardless of what design ?curve balls? we threw at them, they handled everything with the utmost professionalism, a typically unseen attention to detail and a healthy dose of common sense, all of which resulted in this project being completed in a timely manner and being beautifully beyond the clients? expectations. Furthermore, the Two Kathys and their firm do not disappear once the project is complete. Follow-up is excellent, and they remain available for any questions one may have down the road, which is something rarely seen these days. As a result of the experience, hard work, patience, humor and charm they brought to this project, I can honestly say it was one of the best projects my firm has had the honor to work on in a number of years. Having now completed my work with Interior Trends Remodel and Design, I have to commend the Two Kathys and their entire staff not only on their work but also their character. Not often do I have the chance to sincerely note an exceptional job done by exceptional people, but I am happy to say I can do so regarding Interior Trends and Remodel. They come with my highest recommendation
Their pricing were reasonable. I was happy on how they performed the work. The end result was beyond my expectation. Everyone that I dealt with was very personable and easy to work with. I will definitely use them again if the need arises. I highly recommend them.
I had a Tuff Shed built and installed on my property to replace an old metal shed. The Tuff Shed is of exceptional quality and is aesthetically pleasing. The installers were punctual, they were professional and cleaned up very well. Tuff Sheds are not inexpensive but the quality, durability and warranty is well worth the extra money than a cheaper shed. I would highly recommend a Tuff Shed
Independent gave the lowest estimate(s) of the three companies I contacted. FIRST QUOTE was only $2,610. Amazing, but for that quote they would remove the old shingles and leave the old (cruddy) underlayment on beneath the new shingles. They would install 20-yr.-warranty Malarkey brand shingles. However - they knew that my roof had a leak of several years resulting in a partly collapsed ceiling. They saw from inside that some of the plywood sheets and planks between the plywood and rafters were rotten. They told me some people want it done for the money they have available, so they included that option. But I was surprised they would have been willing to do a "lowball estimate" job that would leave rotten material under the new. That made me doubt their quality standards. SECOND QUOTE was for $3,814 to include removing old singles and removing old underlayment, then replacing any bad plywood sheeting beneath, and replacing bad fascia board, at a reasonable extra charge (this is routine). Then installing 15-lb. single layer underlayment and new 20-yr. warranty Malarkey brand shingles. They would remove the old flashing and other metal materials (vent pipes, etc.) and then put these back in place, not replacing any metal. Also, they don't paint the metal. THIRD QUOTE was for $4,617 to upgrade to 30-yr.-warranty shingles by Malarkey. I asked for this because I found out from online reports and reviews that the length of the shingle mfrs. warranty is not at all the same as the actual useful roof lifetime. The 20-yr. material is still widely used but has been eclipsed by the 30-yr. quality as a new industry standard, esp. in southern AZ. A 20-yr. one lasts 19 yrs. in Chicago and 13 yrs. in Yuma. It gets baked to brittle bits. Rather than doing this all over again in maybe 13-15 years, I wanted to pay a little more for lasting quality and have it stay healthy maybe 20+ years. The owner did tell me that he's seen many "20-yr."shingles last longer than that even in Tucson, even up to 20 yrs. But I read contrary information on several roofing sites so I wasn't confident about that. I called to let them know I chose another company and later the owner called me back to re-negotiate the bid(s), which I thought was a nice effort, but I had already contracted elsewhere
This builder built 2 homes for me. The first seem to be ok. Few issues during construction but most got resolved. Probably would not have had him build another one had he not had a very good deal on a 4 acre lot. Many issues through out the build process. Had to threaten to walk away a few times for things that the builder did not want to do but already promised. Always tried to get one past the buyer. buyer beware from this guy, Mike Jones. Many other customer's he has built for were taken for a ride. Would not recommend him nor will I ever have him build me another home
The order date for the service was on 8/26 and we scheduled the appointment for 8/31 between 1-3:00 pm. The service person (Joel) was on time, extremely pleasant and professional. Informed me of what he was doing as he went. I was very pleased with this young man and the service. I would definitely use Nationserve of Tucson again
I really liked the fact that they guarantee the roof for life. They are a very professional outfit that is reliable and always on task. They were helpful in every way and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to everyone.
Reinhard is excellent. I was a little nervous about hiring him for a lot of remodeling work on our new, way too expensive home because I didn't see anything about him on the internet (aside from one obviously wacky writer's on an obscure website). But somehow I kept an open mind and had an initial conversation with him. He struck me as experienced, professional, courteous and sensitive to our needs. I learned that he has very extensive experience both here and in other regions, handling projects of all sizes and complexity. I liked him and trusted him. Still, I did my due diligence and checked his references. They all gave sterling reviews. They mentioned that he was very good about accepting changes, and about making good creative suggestions on his own. We saw both of these qualities many times over in the course of his work for us. He was acutely sensitive to cost, utterly reliable and 100% honest. His workers were well chosen and did great work under his watchful eye. When little things didn't go right (e.g., some concrete splatter on the walls when they were pouring a slab for a landing by a door) he pointed it out, took responsibility and corrected it immediately. Reinhard suggested a very elaborate wall of custom cabinets. It was a great idea but it depended on craftsmanship to come off well. A poor job would have been awful. Reinhard made the cabinets himself and they are gorgeous in every way. I was not looking forward to our remodeling job. But we got lucky when we found Reinhard - he made it pretty darn easy and enjoyable. I would absolutely hire him again for further work (I already plan to as a matter of fact). I am not an easy person to please. I hold high standards for service providers and Reinhard exceeded my expectations
They had a very good rating by TripAdvisor which one of Angie's list competitors. I got on Angie's list and they had a good rating on Angie's list. They had A's. There is another provider that does the similar thing in your area and so I have gone and found them and they had a number of excellent reviews as well. So between Angie's list and the other one and then they were also competitive with pricing. They are working out very well. They did a very nice job on it
The day the house was dry and work could begin Jeff got started. He was fast and the work done very well. Plus, his prices are unbelievable. This is only one of many jobs that we have had Jeff and his team do over the years. I have referred him to many clients, friends and family. He has done everything from completely rebuilding my mother;s 3000 sq ft house in El Encanto after extensive termite damage was discovered, to simple jobs like putting up a ceiling fan or fixing a leak in a pipe at our home. I am always very happy with the quality of work, as well as the price. I would highly recommend Building Concepts to anyone

What do customers in Tucson say about Build Carport?
Bill returned my initial phone call promptly in September and came to see what needed doing and then sent me an estimate (which came in the lowest of three). He warned me then that with the backlog he had he would not be able to do the work till the end of November (which was fine with me). There was a slight delay in getting the extra long beams needed but once he was able to start the worked progressed quickly and efficiently and I was very pleased with the result. Bill was always extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with in fact once the weather warms slightly I am having him to paint the exterior of the house, for which I already have a satisfactory estimate, and will probably also have him do some interior work on the bathrooms in the future!
