Mister Sparky

We had an immediate need for service due to a lightning strike. Travis was sent out and performed a thorough diagnostic and was very knowledgeable about what information our insurance company would need to process our claim. Carlos was sent out the next day to perform repairs and stayed all day, until ever was done. Both of these gentlemen were professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. We will definitely be using Mr Sparky again, should the need arise.

We had a thunderstorm come thru and a few of our outdoor outlets stopped working after we had a lightning strike nearby. I had some questions for them and they got back to me right away and were able to come out the next day! I was very happy with their work and I also thought the girl I spoke with in the office was very friendly.

PRECISION ELECTRIC

As much as I love to be the curmudgeonly complainer, I also make a POINT of letting people know when I've had a great customer experience. This post is one of those, particularly for those of you who live in the Sarasota area. As a woman living alone, and with the same electrical knowledge as your average garden slug, it was not without trepidation that I faced repairs to my home after a lightning strike other other day, which burned out my internet service, my invisible fencing system, and parts of my laundry room, lanai, and kitchen. I was afraid to turn anything on, and lost a bit of sleep watching for any sign of fire in my walls. I was recommended to Precision Electric Company by my plumbing vendor (Blue Ribbon), because I have found the latter to be fast, efficient, courteous, knowledgeable, and --most importantly-- trustworthy, even for clients like me who could easily be led down the proverbial garden path. I am DELIGHTED to say that Jim and Bob from Precision arrived this morning, spent less than an hour at my house, put everything to rights, and at a cost that actually shocked me -- in a GOOD way. I was really dreading what it was going to take out of my budget, and was so pleasantly surprised that I'm thinking of taking myself out to lunch to celebrate. THANK YOU, Precision, Jim, and Bob -- I will absolutely NOT HESITATE to call on you again as needs arise, nor to recommend you to others looking for great work and a great customer experience.

Fantastic. They came out the same night and following morning. Best customer service I have had in a very long time. Very knowledgeable but don't try to rip you off. First one I would recommend or call if ever needed again in the future. Have had bad experiences with other companies that tried to over sell or get me to fix something that was not broken. Honest company.

Great service! I called Joe, we set a specific time for him to come, and he was right on time. He explained everything that was going on, made the necessary repairs quickly, and was friendly and open to questions throughout. He even recommended some things we may want to consider having done to improve our electrical wiring outside--some and quot;spaghettiand quot; connections from work done by the previous owners. Ensured us it was nothing dangerous, so it was clear he wasn't just instilling fear to drive business--he seemed genuine in offering professionally sound advice. I will definitely use him again for all our electrical needs.

I have used AGE in the past and had an issue with "tacked on" fees during the last job, alerted Jerry about it and he reduced the cost for me, still not to what the original estimate was, but it was acceptable to me since they did a good job. This time, I simply called Jerry and over the phone, he said the surge protector would cost $296 and it would take "about an hour" for his son to do the job. He said it was relatively easy. He said his son's hourly rate was $65. This is all that was mentioned for costs. I called and requested he come a few days earlier than planned due to an expected storm on the way. He texted me and said he could have the work done early. There was no other discussion. His son called as expected and arrived early. We could not be home at that time so when we arrived home later, he left the bill. To our surprise the bill was as follows: Surge Arrestor: $296. "Breaker: $15. " Service Call": $40. Labor 1.5 hours: $97.50 Tax: $21.77.TOTAL: $470.37. I called Jerry, he explained that he was sorry he didn't mention the service call charge but he had to "make a living" and pay for gas for the van and he charged the service call also because I wanted him to come earlier than expected, etc. I asked about "1.5" hours and he said, "it was much more difficult than expected". Combined with the last job costing more than expected, and the explanations for this job, we grew suspicious. LUCKILY, we were able to catch him in a BLATANT LIE!! Upon reviewing our security cameras, it was apparent that his son was there EXACTLY 1 hour, between van pulling up and van pulling out of driveway!! My wife decided to give him a call to see if he was aware that his son Mike lied about time spent on our job. He was quick to say, "send me your email and I will respond". She asked him again and he immediately interrupted and went on loudly about the service call that I had already spoke with him about, and also adding that the extra time was for the time he had to drive to the location. Then what is the service call charge for?? He said, "YOU ARE LUCKY MY SON WAS THERE BECAUSE I CHARGE $85 AND YOU ACTUALLY SAVED MONEY"! My wife then mentioned that she was well aware of what he was explaining because that was already established with me the day prior. She again asked him if he is aware that his son lied about the physical amount of time he spent on our property - from beginning to end of job - and informed him that we have it all on our security video, and when she asked if this "charge for extra time" other than the service call, the time spent working on the job, plus materials, is clearly stated on any receipt or service contract, he abruptly mumbled something that was unclear in order to talk over her, then hung up. This unethical business practice is exactly why Angie's List is here and people should be aware of this type of business. Hanging up on us!?! What grown man who owns a business does that? He proceeded to TEXT both of us offering to remove all work done with no charge for any service. I have no problem paying for the cost of materials, (even if I am aware there is an up-charge), and the cost of APPROPRIATE LABOR, which thankfully we have proof. But tacking on charges after-the-fact is simply unacceptable.

Recent Review: John called me back within 15 minutes. He was very helpful and said he could do it but thought it might be better for me to contact someone a little closer. I think his schedule was pretty full although he didn't say that. He recommended 2 companies in my area and I ended up hiring one of them to do the work. I was very pleased with them and they were prompt just like John at Lightning Rod Systems. I appreciate that he was thinking about what was best for me.

Recent Review: I dislike writing this review, but I am definitely disappointed with having to pay to correct items that the owner did. We had a house gutted and the contractor hired this company to do the work. Although I like the owner, Fausto, personally, I didn't like him doing things that were just not customary nor required. We had architect plans and he disregarded them and installed recessed lights in locations that he thought would be in a better location - so he reluctantly removed and reinstalled the lights according to the plans and what we wanted. Then he wanted to charge for a low voltage permit even though I was installing the wiring for the telephone, data and cable myself. Fausto explained that that the electrical inspector would have to inspect the wiring. I contacted the Chief Electrical Inspector of Hillsborough County and he confirmed that a low voltage permit was not required and that the low voltage wiring would not be inspected. Then the A/C cutoff switch was installed in the hallway instead of where it would be customarily installed, in the A/C closet. Fausto said that he had to install the switch in the hall as that was code - he did not want to move it. I contacted the chief inspector again and he said that having the switch in the A/C closet was not a problem, but now we are stuck with the switch in the hallway that I will now have to pay to get it installed in the closet. I'm getting estimates now to move the switch. I purchased 2 light fixtures for the closets, however Fausto said he couldn't use mine as they were not to code. I happen to be at the house when the electrical inspector came by the house for an inspection and decided to ask him about my two fixtures for use in the closets - he said they were fine and meet code. So I ended up paying for Fausto's fixtures when mine were just fine. Lastly, and there were other items, he installed new wiring for three lamp posts. During the install, he ran conduit through some overgrown ferns about were 3' high. When I removed the ferns, the conduit was over a foot over the ground. I e-mailed Fausto the photos of the conduit stating that I didn't think that was his intention, that is, to install the conduit above the ground. I assumed he would correct the problem but he never responded; very disappointed with Fausto, again. Now I have to correct his work again. I gave Fausto a low professional rating for not having the courtesy to respond to my e-mail.

Recent Review: They are first class. Not only do they do the work, but they can give good recommendation for additional work. They try to save you money. They are very good. If you have a project, they will come in and give suggestions on what you could do to save money. There are two guys that come out and they will consult with each other until they come to a conclusion. They collaborate very well together.

Recent Review: Jack Harris of Harris Electrical Services is a very professional guy. He calls and verifies times and gets the job done. He worked well around the handymen's schedules since they were tearing out some old lights and drywall from my bathrooms and he was wiring the new sconces. I originally had Jack just doing a few things and before I knew it I found myself at Home Depot buying new lights and having Jack replace everything and adding the second ceiling fan, etc. Very honest and a hard worker. I've even had Jack come out again for another project, which is included in the above mentioned price (technically, it's over 3 days of work that was done in the price listed). I also have plans for him to come out in the near future to wire me a 30 amp plug for my motorhome.

What do customers in Tampa say about Install Lightning Protection System?

Company had given me a quote approximately 2 months earlier to install a lightning arrester at my home. Called to confirm that price was still valid and was told quote was good for 1 year. I schedules an appointment with that information. First appointment was not kept because company stated they did not have the correct part to complete the project. Received a call 2 days later to indicate that the part had been secured and would like to schedule a new appointment. Scheduled a second appointment. One hour before second appointment, installer called to say part was no longer available and I could call the office for an explanation. Sad that they had the installer take the heat for either their not wanting to fulfill the quote or their negligence. Will not do business again.
