Mike Austin came over to our house and we went over the project. Seemed ok and he said he will get back to us in a week with a proposal. Got back to us about a month later and we already had another contractor lined up.

Fabulous as always! We have had Mike and his crew do extensive remodeling on our home. They have replaced our windows, moldings, interior doors, remodeled our laundry room, replaced all closet bi-fold doors, added windows in the master bedroom where there weren't any, installed wainscot in the master bedroom, installed a huge window above our front door where there wasn't a window, remodeled our downstairs bathroom and more. I am a perfectionist, and if you expect perfection Austin Remodeling is the Company for you. Mike is in touch with his crew several times daily during the work process either in person or on his cell. Mike's suggestions and advice are always welcomed

THE PROJECT (REDESIGN OF MASTER BEDROOM SPACE TO CREATE A 3/4 BATH IN A 50-SQ. FT. AREA) TOOK LONGER THAN WE EXPECTED, AS IS OFTEN THE CASE WITH REMODELING JOBS. ALSO, OUR CONTRACT SPECIFIED THE INSTALLATION OF A VANITY IN THE BATHROOM, BUT THEY FORGOT TO INSTALL ONE, LEAVING US TO PUT UP A FLAT MIRROR ON OUR OWN. FOR THE PRICE, THOUGH, THE REMODEL WAS VERY CREATIVE AND WELL WORTH IT. ALSO, THE OWNER WAS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, CREATIVE AND PERSONABLE, AND RETURNED CALLS OR E-MAILS VERY PROMPTLY

Country Creek Builders Inc

After 20 years with our house’s original master bathroom, we decided it was time for an upgrade. This was not a simple “throw-a-piece-of-granite-down-to-make-it-look-more-modern” project, but rather, we wanted to gut it and start over. So, we went to Angie’s List and got the names of 5 contractors, and made appointments with all of them. After all, we were only going to do this project once, and wanted it done right. We immediately hit it off with Dan from Country Creek. His personality was easygoing and his knowledge was impressive. However, perhaps more importantly, he demonstrated just the right amount of productivity for us. For example, when he first walked into our bathroom, he said, “Well, I think for your new shower, you should expand it out further. It will give you more room. You’ll love it.” What a great idea! We wouldn’t have thought of something like that. In fact, this type of forward thinking was the norm – he made great suggestions involving everything from lighting to a storage tower on the vanity to a timed fan to (get this) putting an outlet and holder in the drawer where my wife keeps her hair dryer. Brilliant! He also showed flexibility when, a few times, our vision changed during the project. We were especially appreciative that he put the drain and faucet on the opposite end of the tub than that which was originally discussed. We were so pleased with how he mapped out his vision for the bathroom, we asked him to add more lighting to the closet and our master bedroom. Productivity from Dan again: “Hey, how about sconces on both sides of the wall above your bed?” Our response: "Why not?!" So, our bathroom remodel turned into a master suite upgrade, and we were able to stay within our budget. And while the visual appeal approved exponentially, it is also now more functional and enjoyable to use. OK, now the basics. His crew was friendly, respectful, kept to their deadlines and minimized any mess. And while Dan’s estimate was among the lowest of the five we received, as you can see, there was no sacrifice when it came to quality or workmanship. Oh, and about the pricing. Talk about transparency! The estimate was 11 pages, and went through everything. Several times, when things changed, he promptly got us a new estimate reflecting the changes. Down to the penny. In short, we were extremely pleased with Country Creek. Thanks, Dan

Vail Builders Inc

We had Jim Vail (Vail Builders) remodel our master bedroom suite (bathroom, laundry room and closet). We learned about Vail Builders after a trusted neighbor highly recommended them. Jim was fabulous from the outset helping us design the changes with 3D modeling software, sending pictures back and forth over the internet. He came over and studied/measured the existing plumbing, heating and electrical so that we could design the new layout with minimum (expensive) relocations. Jim has experience with the latest plumbing, heating and electrical improvements that are on the market and helped us learn about and choose what was available and within budget. We have had bad luck in the past with contractors leaving the house a mess, so we were delighted when Jim laid down plastic on all the stairs and hallways that subcontractors would be using. Plastic walls were hung to keep dust away from the part of the master bedroom that was not being changed, and zippered plastic was used to cover the bedroom door and keep dust out of the rest of the house. Jim was very nice to work with as were the subcontractors he had coming to the house. He pays attention to the details and strives for perfection. He kept us informed of the progress throughout the project. The remodel is absolutely beautiful ? better than we imagined it could be. We would hire Jim again, and will recommend him to friends and neighbors

Sue was really amazing. She came to our home on a Saturday morning and helped us think through color and design for our entire main level, two upstairs bathrooms and our master bedroom. Sue has that professional designer eye that we all crave and by the time our meeting was through, we had a book full of color schemes and ideas for each remodeled room. Sue was so careful and thoughtful. We met Sue a week later at two furniture stores. With Sue's guidance, we had all of the furniture for our family room, kitchen and dining room selected in one day. We are so thrilled with our selections and it would have taken us months if we were on our own. We couldn't be more satisfied

MONNENS CUSTOM BUILDERS INC

It took them over a year to get everything done, and that is way too long. He walked off the job before it was done. The pipes in the faucets and shower were put in wrong so the cold water is on the hot side and the hot water is on the cold side. He hired a tile person that laid down cracked tiles. We had to hire a second tile person to take that up and replace them. He was supposed to hire an electrician to install humidifiers in the bathroom but he did it himself. He did the plumbing for the faucets himself instead of hiring a plumber. The work has never been inspected because he just walked off the job and I am worried about that when it comes time to sell the house. He was very argumentative the whole time and was never on time

K2 Bath Deck & Kitchen

K2 gutted our master bathroom and guest bathroom, and also designed and built custom built-in cabinets for the master bedroom. Great from start to finish. Very responsive to all of our questions and concerns. We feel they went above and beyond to complete the work on time and to our satisfaction. All construction projects have issues, but K2 handled each and every one with professionalism and a positive attitude. We would highly recommend them, and will choose them again for our next project

Great experience working with this team: very good people, trustworthy, fun, creative, patient, always accommodating, do everything to make the remodel perfect. When a granite countertop arrived that was our second choice, they insisted on redoing it. Second choice would have been o.k. with me , but they do EVERYTHING to see that the job is perfect. I find working with Mark and Mary Mackmiller a pleasure, and treasure them most when something isn't quite right. They fix it. My wife and I used them to update our lower level three years ago and have recommended them to friends. We love them ... and their work

Twin Cities Remodeling, Inc.
5.0
This is a family owned business that believes in and delivers quality work. I have used them in the past to remodel my bathroom and it was outstanding. When I deceided to remodel my kitchen, John was the first person I called. My kitchen was an early 1960's style. After getting the estimate I went looking for ready made caibinets, finding nothing I liked, John suggested I consider custom made that way I would get what I wanted and they would fit correctly. In additin they wouldn't cost much more than ready made. I took his advice and used the cabinet maker he subcontracted with. Everyone John uses does excellent work. The person that did the hardwood floors had to match some existing flooring and you can't tell the difference. My kitchen and wood floors are beautiful. I am now having them remodel my basement. As always the work is done in such a way that is minimally disruptive to you life. After they have finished for the day they always clean up, you would hardly know they were there. Twin Cities Remodeling does quality work and does not take any short cuts to get by. Everyone is friendly and goes above and beyond. I believe in "you get what you pay for" and quality work is what you get from Twin Cities Remodeling. I will continue to use them and won't boher to look elsewhere

BT Construction
5.0
I have used BT Construction for all my repair and remodel needs. Jay provides very high quality service at reasonable prices. He is meticulous and very detail oriented. I would not hesitate to recommend Jay to anyone. I will continue to use Jay for all my remodel needs, big or small. His prices are fair. He leaves the job site cleaner than when he arrived
It went great! The work was completed as expected and with high quality craftsmanship. I found they were very knowledgeable and conscientious about the work being done. Any concerns that came up were taken care of promptly. They also had ideas for our windows that we hadn’t thought of and we were very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend Craftsman Choice
We replaced the roof and siding on our detached garage, and had the service door replaced. David, the owner, came out and did the estimate and stayed in close touch with me throughout the project. His crew did an awesome job, even returning to finish the siding the day after a blizzard (they shoveled a path to the work area and cleared out around the garage). Everything looks terrific. Not only that, but their bid was the lowest of the five I got for the project
We worked with Ron Burgess from Northrup Remodeling to do an extensive remodeling project in our old St. Paul home. The work included adding a new powder room on the main floor, gutting and rebuilding another bathroom, opening up a wall. Lots of wall-moving, electrical, tiling, plumbing, drywall. This was as painless as a major remodel can be. And we are so happy with the results! Leading up to the project we were impressed with how Ron listened to us and helped us think through plans. In preparation for the project Ron mapped it out and helped us understand what to expect. Ron's project plan was accurate, and the work was finished within the projected time period of 3 months. Each subcontractor brought in by Northrup was equally great to work with and they all did excellent work. They were willing to work with me on all of my design choices and helped me navigate challenges that come with remodeling old houses
Mad City came and did my kitchen and did exactly what I had asked of them. I love the new look, it has really brighten up my kitchen. Excellent work. Very professional and I would hire them again. Were always on time, the workers were wonderful and answered any questions I had.
Pineview Builders is an outstanding choice when selecting a general contractor to partner with you on any building related project. They have done both a roofing and a remodeling project for us and we couldn't be more satisfied. They went above and beyond with the completion of our roof and after they were done the clean up was so good we couldn't tell they were there. Regarding our remodel, they provided creativity and ideas when we weren't sure what we wanted to do with certain areas of our home. The project was done in a timely manner and on budget. BIG THANKS to Tony for communicating with us during the project and making it a stress free experience
Patrick Miller did an awesome job! He was easy to get a hold of and showed up every day of the remodel. His sub contractors were great---especially Phil, who build the cabinet by hand, no store bought prefab stuff. At the finish Patrick made sure everything was to my satisfaction before I paid him.
We had a high complexity project requiring working with 2 separate homeowners for a single structure (an 1891 townhouse). The team at Keyprime were extremely clear about project risks and expectations, and that meant that when additional issues were discovered during the project, we already knew about the possibility and were prepared to deal with them. They were excellent communicators (even during a literal plague) and provided really high quality service. The price is relatively high for a re-roof/new gutters, but the material quality is excellent and the workmanship is great
I found Lakewood’s Remodeling on Angie’s list and I’m happy I did. Scott Rise and his team did a great job, both in the work they performed as well as the communications they provided. The roof and soffits looks great and everything was picked up at the end of the job. The work was completed on schedule and per the quote. From the beginning Scott was readily available and keeping me updated. It was a good experience from start to finish and I would definitely work with Lakewood on other projects
Weld and sons came in to fix plumbing in our laundry room. We appreciated the work so much we hired them again to do our bathroom after a home improvement nightmare! Thank you for your professional and awesome job! Jeny and Chad Johnson
When we were searching potential contractors for our remodeling project, we interviewed representatives from three different companies. Although Twin City Home Remodeling (TCHR) provided us with the highest bid, we chose them over the others for several reasons. First, we thought that their proposal was the most complete and thorough regarding all that would have to be done for the job. Second, they talked about how they would go about different stages of the work ? we felt more fully informed from them as opposed to the others. Third, they brought on an Interior Designer for the initial plan for ideas for selection of flooring and tile as well as cabinetry. Fourth, in retrospect, we felt like the other contractors were most likely bidding with the lowest cost materials and the costs would have gone up considerably if we wanted higher quality materials. Finally, we really liked Dave. He was well- prepared at the outset with all the necessary documentation of licensure, bonding, and recommendations. He provided us with contact information of former customers to get first hand feedback from them about their satisfaction with their work. Dave engendered an authentic feeling of trust on our part and that peace of mind made it worth considering the higher cost for all we wanted done. In terms of the planning for the remodel, we were very impressed with Dave?s attention to detail. He brought up several issues and options for us to consider that we would have never thought of, such as getting a new front door, getting rid of a pocket door that we never used, resurfacing the ceilings, and the need to consider options for new outlet covers. Dave clearly went the extra mile by making a few extra trips to our home to bring us brochures and samples. He brought brochures for us to consider: kitchen sink; front door, side light, and locks; and samples: of cabinet glass options, wood floors, crown molding. The overall quality of the work and the end result was much better than it would have been without Dave's assistance and suggestions. In terms of the process of the job, Dave promised a schedule up front and a clear timeline for how long the job would take. He also made it clear this could be subject to unforeseen factors which can come along with each specific remodeling job. Given this was our first experience with a major remodel, this made us feel positive about the process. Dave maintained regular contact with us for the first couple of weeks of the project , which again gave us a feeling of assurance that TCHR are trustworthy and reputable professionals. However, as the job continued a few snags were encountered and the timeline was extended by a couple of weeks beyond the original estimation. Although we were never given a weekly printed schedule as promised, John, the site supervisor, was at our house regularly and gave is updates and projected timelines. Whenever we called with a question or a concern, John or Dave responded promptly. The crew the TCHR hires was great. Workers were considerate and professional throughout. Jason and Becky were fantastic with their painting work. There was an issue with one of the new workers, but John took care of any issues to our satisfaction. There were a few issues with some of the cabinetry from the manufacturer. TCHR worked with the representative of the company to get cabinet doors replaced and concerns resolved to our satisfaction. They did a great job of keeping our driveway clear of trash and had the Bagster picked up in a timely fashion. They also took care to repair some damage that occurred to our basement ceiling during the process of the first floor demo. In terms of the overall job and workmanship, we are very satisfied to date, almost one year after the completion of the job. (We took so long to write the review because we both work in education... once school starts, most other things wait). We love the remodel! We enjoy our "new" home. Overall, we are very pleased with the staff and Twin City Home Remodeling . We would highly recommend them for a remodeling job. If we have future projects, we will happily hire them again. Although their prices were higher than others, we believe it was worth it given the quality of the work and how they worked with us as clients
Our bathroom remodel went great! Bernie and his crew were a pleasure to work with. There were a few challenges and delays in the course of the project, all manageable and due the pandemic and structure of our 120 year old house. The crew was friendly and professional, and went the extra mile to endure the highest quality of craftsmanship
Lake Region was great throughout the whole process. It was nice to work directly with Tom, the owner. He really explained everything - what options were needed and what would make the most of my remodeling dollars. I felt that he really cared about what I wanted, I didn't feel like it was just another job
Great experience. Did a whole main floor overhaul inclusive of removing a wall. I knew exactly what I wanted and they listened and offered great suggestions and recommendations. The process along the way was great. The project management was second to none with a full project plan prior to starting and they stayed on top of it the whole way. I knew exactly what was happening each day. In the end, I worked with great people and the kitchen turned out better than I even imagined. I will definitely be reaching out when we start our next project
Anton provided us with a prompt and understandable bid for our remodel project. After we reviewed it with him (and others) I am confident we received a fair price. Anton did a wonderful job of assisting us with the design of our project. He helped us design our extensive tile patterns used in our kitchen back splash, large master shower, guest tub area and floors. He also assisted or validated our designs for our lighting, fixtures, glass, cabinets, granite counter tops and paint. He was very helpful educating us on modern styles and construction methods. Anton spent a full day with us shopping for fixtures and tile. His van as almost overloaded as he hauled them all to our home at the end of the day. This was above and beyond! Anton is tireless with his ideas and follows them up with excellent execution! He and his team are very detail orientated and perfectionistic. The team members that worked on our project were all very experience professionals. They take pride in their work. They are true craftsmen. In addition, Anton communicated almost daily with us, providing status updates and alerting us to his plans for the next day. And always asking if we are happy with the progress to date. Things happened each day over the course of the 8 week project. (Important as living with construction is hard!) Anton proved to be a man of his word, a good communicator and most of all, my wife is comfortable having him and his team around the house during the day. I highly recommend Anton and his team and I would hire them again without hesitation, and we plan too as we move into our final remodel phase in June
The experience from start to finish was great! Overall, a great company to work with. The crew did a great job with the drywall work I needed done for my basement remodel. Extremely satisfied and would recommend to anyone looking for remodeling work in your home!
We had K2 remodel our Master Bathroom. The designer Stephen had great ideas. The project turned out better than we could have expected. The crews were amazing. We would definitely hire them again.

What do customers in Saint Paul say about Remodel Master Bedroom?
We converted two bedrooms and a bath into a master suite. We got two estimates on the project. Steve Dahl was considerably less than our other bid. Granted, he did not have all the bells and whistles we had with the other quote, but he got our attention. We knew people who used Steve on their project so we had an idea of the quality of his work so we decided to go with him. Steve was very easy to work with from the plans through construction. Anything we wanted to change was no problem. Steve did all of the framing, and was kind enough to hep with another project we decided to tackle beside the one he bid for us. Even when not on site the whole day, he did stop by to make sure his crews were performing. Most of Steve's subs were great! He completed the project on time and on budget. At the end of the project, we were billed for some of the extras. However, he did not charge us for many of the changes we made during the course of the project. Overall, we were very pleased and would use Steve again in the future.
