We called, and the were very specific that just the service call would cost us a specific amount whatever we did. Came out and looked at problem, said they could fix it, but they would have to replace the valve and open up wall. To do this would cost around $1000, but that we would have to pay if we did not have him do this. This seemed high, but we had no idea, and we had just moved in and never had a plumber call before - we also needed to shower. We were under them impression that we would pay a large amount for any visit to hear the same cost estimate. Did the work and did it well, although the tile was removed and not repairable as it is not made anymore, so that added a huge cost to fix the tile. We later discovered that the work from most any other plumber would have cost several hundred dollars less, and if we had just gone without the shower for a day, and had ANGIE'S LIST to look through, we would have been better off.
