Everything occurred like clockwork, We were impressed with the painting crew, the lead helped me pick a great color for the Deck refinished. They did the shed first to give us an idea of the color palate. Everything was protected and the clean up was done nicely.

We used Envirotek annually to clean and refinish the deck when my wife owned a rental townhouse. I was pleased to see Envirotek pop up when searching for a contractor to power wash my house. Sammy's workers were very thorough and the paint looked like new when they finished.

APPLIED WATERPROOFING SYSTEMS

The whole process took about 4 days since there was cleaning, and 3 coats to be done. The workers were on time, moved furniture off the deck, covered surfaces against overspray, cleaned up, generally were very professional. They worked about 4 half-days, with drying time each day and completed the job on time and according to estimate. I got 4 bids on the job before I hired Applied, and they were in the middle of the pack price-wise, which is why I didnt give them an A on price, however Neil the owner, who did the estimate himself, seemed to have the best understanding of the process involved, the materials needed, and had the most experience doing this exact kind of flat roof waterproofing job, so I hired them instead of a other contractors with a lower estimate. The roof looks great, and has a great looking durable coating that's very grippy underfoot. Overall it was exactly what I wanted, and I'm extremely pleased with Applied Waterproofing

They did a great job: the waterproofing was far better than the original construction on the house. Joe was a great person to deal with.

Called Sammy, the owner, and he personally came out and examined our deck. He really knew his decks (was able to grade the quality of the work and 'age' our deck). After giving us a very excellent quote (with 10% coupon in mailer), he scheduled us for two weeks later. He brought a crew of three people that initially powerwashed the deck, then hammered in all the nails, and then sanded it. We have a deck with a trellis and he was able to make that all clean too! Two days later he came to paint the deck. It looked absolutely fabulous. Couldn't be happier with the work. The only downside? His earliest appointment was two weeks from the quote. I guess you're busy when you're good

THE RESTORATION COMPANY
5.0
We have a typical SF Sunset District house with a beautiful center patio that, unfortunately, has been leaking for a few years, as center patios are wont to do. Whenever it would rain, the water would seep through the patio and down into our garage. After being paralyzed with inaction about this problem, especially after being told that it would cost $25,000 to dig up the patio, put in a new pan, etc., we decided to call The Restoration Company. Bill, the owner, had experience waterproofing ship decks, and we figured he would know what to do. And what a pleasure it was working with him! For a very reasonable cost, he assessed the situation, cleaned and primed the patio, then applied a couple of coats of an elastomeric-style product over a period of a few days (to allow things to dry in between). We then did a massive test involving plugging the drain and filling the patio with tons of water from a high-powered hose. A couple of weeks earlier, that test had resulted in waterfalls of water cascading into our garage. This time, nothing. Not a drop. Bill says the official warranty is for five years but that in his experience the waterproofing will last for 25 or 30 years. We are ecstatic! Not only that, Bill is really nice, was very sweet to our little dog, arrives when he says he's going to, and is generally a gem. I will try to remember to post a followup to this review after the winter comes and goes, just to make sure the waterproofing is still holding and no rain is getting through. FOLLOWUP, April 5, 2014: Well, the major rains (such as they were this winter) have come and gone, and our patio still is not leaking. No rain pouring into our garage. HOORAY! Thanks so much again to Bill at The Restoration Company!! PAINTING FOLLOWUP: We also hired Bill, later in 2014, to paint the exterior (and some interior doors and trim) of our house. The paint job was terrific, but more importantly to us, Bill was his usual self: a great communicator, pleasant to be around, always on time (unless he called to say he'd be a tad late), and reasonably priced. And he cleans up after himself beautifully. We all want those things in a contractor! A+

Henry and his crew did a superb job – power washing, sanding and re-staining our 20 year old Redwood deck, which had not been similarly refinished for nearly a decade… They were efficient, polite, and did work of the highest quality on time and at a reasonable price… I was delighted with the results and would clearly plan to use them again. I can recommend them enthusiastically – they’re great

Replaced rotting boards, sanded & cleaned deck. Some other boards should have been replaced. One new board drained sap thru new surface. Had to request a second coat because first coat di not provide enough coverage. I provided my own paint to lower portion due to a different color wanted. I feel that nail holes should have been filled and other boards replaced. Yes deck is greatly improved but I will be filling nail holes and repainting this summer

GARDELLE CONSTRUCTION & LANDSCAPE

The job was bid in Nov, but work could not be scheduled by the contractor until January. When it finally did start, there were several delays due to workers being sick or unavailable. Ultimately things were not completed until late Feb; three months after a quote was provided. Weather was a factor in one or two cases, but I think you can do the math: this took a long time. The price was competitive, which we were happy about. The restructuring of the deck went well; also good to see. We found a can of wood stain from the previous home owner that we thought would be a suitable re-finisher for the deck, but without any special prep work by the contractor that ended up looking awful - the old shards of paint were clearly visible. We took responsibility for our part in making that happen, but some professional advice would have prevented the problem in the first place. Plus they left nails sticking up, and were ready to call the job done. We ended up paying for materials and incremental labor to re-finish the deck. When it was finally done, the crew did not replace items that they had removed until I pushed them them to do so. That is part of professional work, I found the whole thing to be ridiculous. Overall the job took far more time and effort than it should have, and I ended up paying more than was agreed to in the contract. Timely completion of work and good advice are 2 important qualities of a good contractor, and neither was apparent here

Braced joists, covered supports with weather proofing, coated with preservative, replaced all deck boards with high quality redwood.
Good work! The crew did a wonderful, first rate job. The crew was on time every day, efficient, knew what they were doing and went about there business in a professional manner. The crew leader, Zack, and paint crew were courteous and readily available. The crew was open to my inspections and requests to paint over anything and offered suggestions to make the paint job look nicer. The manager, Dave, came out to check on the work and made a great suggestion for the porch color which turned out to make the house look nicer. The estimator, Tim, was professional and courteous. I recommend this painting company to anyone looking for a painting contractor. I am very pleased with the work done
Nir was very responsive and scheduled an appointment the next day, though we had to postpone because of heavy rains. He came out as soon as possible after that, which happened to be a Sunday. There were delays during the project (not unexpected), though it did seem to take a few weeks longer than would otherwise be expected. That being said, the work was great and Nir kept me informed throughout the whole process. He helped me understand my best options for waterproofing so I could make the most informed decisions. Great work
The project was complicated because we found after demolishing the old bathroom that our plumbing and water heater needed to be replaced which increased scope and timeline. Future Vision was quick to help us problem solve and adjust the plan, and did high quality work so we are very happy with the results
Thanks to the excellent prep work of the Colorblast crew, we were able to complete the painting of this large outdoor porch ourselves. We always hear that good preparation is what makes for a good paint job, and it's so true! The painting would not have come out well if Nathan's people hadn't done such an excellent job of the hard prep work...it turned out that the original porch had never been sealed prior to painting. With their sealing and patching, we were able to do a professional-looking job. The porch now looks as if it were freshly built
He seemed like an easy-going guy and willing to work with us. He wasn't pushy and didn't trash talk. He called back and asked if we had a chance to look over the quote. He seems like he wants to work with what we can afford. He was really responsive. We didn't find a lot of people in our area. He seems like maybe we will be able to connect
I was referred to El Gato from a good friend that is also a General Contractor. Having used this GC for 3 years I trusted his referrals and knew that he used El Gato for his own work. Although I was North of El Gato's normal "boundary" (I'm in Forest Hills, SF) in the Bay area - Ken came out within a day of calling and provided a very detailed quote, to include options I didnt even see at first (they do power washing of decks too and refinished my front wood door really fantastic, like new). Needless to say, they came out a week later and power washed the entire house, scraped, cleaned and rinsed again - at the same time they did my deck and rails. A week after that they came out and did my entire house in 2.5 days, bringing four great painters to the site - using the last half day to clean all windows, touch up as needed and walk the entire place with me - fixing anything (ANYTHING!) I called out with no questions. This is the 5th house I have painted in my life (once I did it by myself - boy was I dumb!). I have never worked with such a pleasant crew, accommodating provider and with a great/fair price. 3 neighbors already stopped by to get their name - that's an endorsement
Excellent! Luis was very professional and the quote he gave us was very reasonable. No hidden fees and the quote was the amount we paid. The painters were always on time and very professional. They respected our property and cleaned up after each day of painting. We would absolutely hire this company again for any painting projects. Our house now looks amazng
They are excellent but very high. They are like the premier service. I live in the San Francisco peninsula, and they are the premier termite company on the peninsula. They are very good but very high. I just flipped out because of the price. I thought somebody else who could do just as good a job but for less money. But they are very busy. I know they are busy all the time. I see their trucks all over the place. They were great. They need to lower their prices, but I don't have that kind of money. Everything is A except for the cost. I wouldn't use them again because of the cost, but they are a great company
All aspects of the job were positive. I really was impressed with how quickly Yi returns a message. I thought that Yi had the best understanding of how to apply the paint so it would last. I paid less last year and it did not last through the rains.
Robert and his crew were very easy to work with - honest, caring and responsive. The results were lovely. They spent a lot of time on prep, and were very helpful in identifying issues that we did not anticipate (dry rot etc). Robert was very helpful in problem solving solutions that gave us different options (in both time and cost). His bid was not an all-inclusive bids like some others, but he added items in (ex: parking permit, porta-potty, scaffolding) based on our conversation about my requirements/expectations. He also included an extra bid for the clean-up/staining of our decking. Robert's crew were punctual and respectful of our personal space, and clear in their requirements (opening of windows, doors etc.) I would recommend and use them again
Robert from V&G Builders is very professional and his workmanship is excellent. What set him apart early on in the project that I did with him was that he is a man of his word. He shows up on time and works hard to get the job done based on the schedule he promised upfront. As a homeowner, I have dealt with many different contractors and believe me when I tell you I have heard every excuse about why a job will not be finished on time or why it will go over budget. But working with Robert was a breeze because he takes pride in what he does and the quality of work he delivers. He takes the time to explain the project to you and his billing and invoicing is also very professional and detailed. You will not have any surprises with Robert once he signs up to do the job and I am confident you will not be disappointed in the quality of his work. For this reason I recommend him wholeheartedly
Worker were on time every morning. Cleaned up every evening before leaving. Took exactly the time I was told it was going to take. Beautiful work, very happy with all the work. There were some spots that painted area needed more paint and they came back promptly to redo.
I own a home in Oakland and several rental properties in Vallejo. David has performed several jobs for me over the past 18 months including: - New vinyl and laminate flooring install - Hardwood floor refinish - Large indoor paint job - Cabinet painting with air brush - New deck stairway and deck construction - Numerous light fixture installs - New carpet install - Appliance install - Window install David and his team's work is always excellent and the price is excellent too. David is always my go to person for almost anything I need done for my properties. He is also very honest and reliable which I require in anyone that works for me. Highly recommend
Update: I was not paid to give a review and I did utilize and hire Shefer Builders for a total remodel. Remodeling can be stressful. So many decisions and expenses. We thought about it several years. We researched, planned, saved and interviewed several companies. We wanted a general contractor that could handle all our needs (one stop). We met with Yani of Shefer Builder twice. We shared our budget, our wants, and our concerns. It’s important you find someone you feel comfortable with and can have confidence in. It’s your home after all. He made us feel excited about the possibilities and his portfolio was extensive. He had loads of ideas and thoughtful ways and places we could make our dreams come true. We’d lived in our 1950s home for 20 years. Everything needed updating. From the roof down to new flooring, new windows, doors, outside stucco, and a gorgeous new open floor plan kitchen (removed a wall) and bathroom! We couldn’t be happier now! The end result is amazing. It looks like something in a magazine. Yet very livable. Yani helped with choosing wall colors, tile, flooring and fixtures. They built a new master walk-in closet with custom organizers. Added crown molding and pocket lights throughout and durable pretty flooring. During the process Yani stayed in touch constantly and sent pictures of the progress. If we had a question he was very responsive in returning a call or text. He stayed within our budget and even found places to save us money. We joke if we win the lotto we’ll have Shefer Builder back to add a second story. We’d be happy to provide more info

What do customers in San Jose say about Deck Waterproofing?
The job took about as long as expected which is about 20% longer than quoted. But the job costs didn't increase any more than I expected (scope creep isn't the contractor's fault, it's the customers). The final product was a deck that was completely waterproof. I know this because there was 2 weeks of solid rain right after they put on the schluter waterproofing but before the slate. Not a drop went into the garage. Everything drained perfectly, and there were no "pools" on my deck. The deck looks great, and we are enjoying it. Thanks, John and team!
