Reviews for San Jose Wood Siding Repair

Cahalan Construction Co.
5.0
This job was finished on time and professionally. The final cost was higher than the bid because a new problem was discovered during the course of work (a rain gutter had to be installed). The repairs were meant to fix a leaky area and they withstood the recent winter storms well -- no leaks to date

MARKOFF STRUCTURAL PEST CONTROL
5.0
Steve at Markoff was very helpful in both performing work he promised, repair and replacement of wood siding that had dry-rot, and also in the partial restoration of a Victorian style building in San Francisco. This started out as an external painting of the (front) exterior of the building. Markoff/Steve was recommended by my painting contractor because of dry rot and restoration needed ( it had probably been over 20 years since the building was painted. Ultimately, I was much more satisfied with Steve and his firm then the painting contractor. Steve went above and beyond the call of duty in not only doing an excellent and prompt job on the work promised, but he also was very helpful in dealing with next door neighbors who were not being cooperative in providing access to the sides of my building through their properties. In many cases, he facilitated/negotiated access not just for his workers, but also for the painting contractor (Classic Shades). I would definitely recommend Markoff/Steve

A couple of years ago, they did a total kitchen remodel for us and they have been outstanding on both jobs. He?s done work for other members of my family and they?ve been delighted. On this last little job he did, he had another guy come in to do the actual work and he was extremely conscientious. He gave the entirety of the bill to the guy and didn?t take a penny for himself because that is the kind of guy he is. He is just terrific. He is on time or early every time. When he did our kitchen, he actually finished ahead of schedule and other contractors are blown away by such a report. He only uses subcontractors that are as punctual as he is so if the guy is late, he isn?t hired again. He makes his clients enormously happy. He is a fun Englishman; he cracks jokes and has a great time

We can't say enough about how great this company is and echo the positive things said by other reviewers. AHR replaced the insulation, sheathing, water barrier and siding on one side of our two-story house due to prior water intrusion. We also replaced eight windows. Everything from the initial sales call to the last day working went just right. The window crew couldn't have been nicer, was on time every day, and did high quality work. The siding crew was awesome. Nick, Peter, and Andre were pleasant and SO hard working. They are a well oiled machine. The pump jack system they use allowed them to work around a shed that would have been very difficult to move. They were polite and efficient, cleaned up every day and were some of the easiest workers to have around that we've known. AHR also graciously adjusted their siding schedule to accommodate other contractors with minimal overall delays. Although we had to wait several weeks to get on their production schedule, we feel the quality of work was worth the wait. We will definitely use them again if needed and unhesitatingly recommend them

Accu-Built Construction

Brothers Home Improvements referred me to Brian and Accu-Built since my sliding doors needed to be replaced via new construction rather than retrofit. Brian came out and assessed the job, confirmed the price (which Brothers had previously estimated) and date for the work to be done. They came as scheduled and did the work and kept me apprised as they went on how long it would take and the dry rot and cost to fix. They paid attention to the details, did quality work and cleaned up everything before they left like they were never here at all. I had a great experience with Brian and the team that did the installation of the doors

MICKEY MCGRATH CONSTRUCTION

Mickey had discovered water damage on the wood siding underneath the deck steps to two rooms where he had installed new french doors for me. He removed the damaged siding and replaced it with new siding. He did a good job and everything looks as good as new. (Of course, I will have a painter come as he doesn't do the painting.) He didn't ask for any payment until the job was complete. His workmanship was good and he finished the job in one day. He cleaned up after himself. I am pleased to get help from someone with a high standard of workmanship. I know where to go when I have another repair

DOHERTY RESTORATION INC
5.0
I selected three companies to interview for some wood repair on our stairs in the front of my house and a rotting post supporting exterior back stairs and to paint both the front and back. I decided to use a different company for the front and initially hired Doherty Restoration to work on the back--replace a rotting post on the back stairs of the house and to paint the entire exterior back and small deck . In working on the project, the company discovered extensive dry rot in the back. This problem occurred because of the work performed on my house by another contractor about 18 years ago. He had used cheap siding and did not build the deck correctly, which created a problem that I had no idea I had. Doherty Restoration came to my rescue by working with the City to get a permit for the dry rot repair and working around my vacation plans to get the work done as much as possible before the rains came. They had to remove the existing cheap siding, rebuild the deck, provide additional wrapping for the exterior, install new wood siding, and paint the exterior. Throughout this ordeal, I found Doherty Restoration to be responsive and caring. All the people who worked on the house were professional in their work on the job and in their demeanor. They were on time and put in a full day of hard work each day they worked on my house. I was very impressed with the quality of the work and their commitment to doing the work right. They also looked for ways to keep costs down for the homeowner and made many helpful suggestions. There were many times during the course of this project when I said and thought to myself, "Thank God I found these people." I had a bad experience with another contractor years ago in terms of the quality of the work and general dissatisfaction. Working with this company restored my faith that there are indeed some good contractors out there and they will do a good job for you. If you hire this company, you can be sure that they will get the job done right. I am very appreciative of the work done on my house and want to convey my heartfelt thanks to Patrick and his crew. I am thrilled with the work that they did and would not hesitate to recommend this company

DO NOT COUNT ON THEM BEING RELIABLE. THEY WILL BE QUICK TO CALL TO REVIEW YOUR NEEDS AND ALMOST AS QUICK IN SENDING AN ESTIMATE. HOWEVER, I AM STILL AWAITING ESTIMATES FOR ANOTHER POTENTIAL JOB (THEY CAME BY ON JUNE 30TH; STILL WILL REITERATE I WILL NOT BE USING THEM) THEY ARE ALSO DISRESPECTFUL. JOB I PAID THEM FOR IS INCOMPLETE. CALLED THEM TO COME A 3RD TIME AND THEY RESPONDED WITH A NASTY ATTITUDE INSTEAD OF BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE MEN NOT DOING THE JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THAT IS, THEY HAVE MISSED A 2 INCH HOLE ON THE SIDING AT LEAST TWICE; HE SAID HE DID NOT HAVE A LADDER TO GET UP THERE AND NEEDED TO BORROW FROM ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS. I COULD HAVE DONE THAT AND SAVE MYSELF A LOT OF MONEY

J&M did the inspection and then did the repair. They arrived promptly for both the inspection and on each day of repairs. The first batch of repair work took just under two days. During the repairs they discovered additional dry rot that was hidden, for which they had prepare a new estimate. Once I signed the contract for the new estimate, they came out to do the rest of the work a couple of days later. They used high quality materials, and caulked where appropriate to help prevent a recurrence of the dry rot. I'm very satisfied with the work and would use them again

Quality of work was outstanding and work was finished well ahead of time. John Banke and Francisco were both very professional, made helpful suggestions to improve the final results and were very accommodating. Good companies are hard to come by in this business. They were able to fit me into their schedule in a short time. The team of guys were amazing! They assessed the problems with the deck, and got right to work. They discussed all progress with me, showing me exactly what they were doing and what was needed. Best of all - they were creative about designing and building a unique 'privacy fence.' I never would have thought of using the design they came up but I absolutely love it!! The final touch was the beautiful railing. I can't say enough good things about this company

GVD Renovations
5.0
My wife and I decided to fix the siding, soffit, windows and gutters of our home before our first child was born. Honestly, my wife and i knew nothing about sidings, window brands or contracting before this. So we took our time and did our research. We got contacted multiple recommended contractors from on Angie's List. GVD responded immediately and we setup an appointment with Andy. Andy was helpful in answering our many questions. During the whole decision process, Andy stayed in contact constantly, answering alot more questions we had about their process, pricing and products. In the end we chose GVD as they surprising price matched one of the other bids we got. The project was slated to take around 2-3 weeks starting in beginning of July which was perfect timing as our baby was due around 7 weeks from the time they were to start. Alex and his team were very professional and made sure to wear face masks when inside the house and clean up the site at the end of the day. Special thanks to Vitale(?) who helped complete a lot of the tiny details my wife pointed out. Unfortunately, the wrong sized sliding door was ordered and the Alside factory at the time was operating at 60% due to COVID-19 so it would take a couple weeks for a new slider to be made. This pushed the project to be completed after our son was born. The one negative from our experience was the Alside products. Although all windows and sliding doors were installed professionally, we had issues with the product themselves. We choose to do a black exterior and white interior for the window finish. Unfortunately we did not know that you could see the black exterior from the inside, which looks somewhat odd to us. The black finish was also not done very well as it overlapped in some of the white finish (I was able to clean this off myself with some work). Another thing was the Alside Mezzo windows had issues with the seals that held the window panes in place. The seals were not entirely cut to size and alot of them were cut short and were loose because of it. The sliding door screen also has an issue locking when trying to close. I am not sure if this is just the quality of the Alside product (we were debating about buying Anderson 100s but were convinced otherwise by Andy) or if the COVID-19 situation reduced the quality of the product by Alside at the factory level. Either way, this was not Vlad and his team's fault and they did their best in trying to resolve some of these issues. Overall, the siding, soffit and gutters were installed professionally and look great! If we had to do it again, we would probably choose a different Alside product or different brand (Anderson) for the windows and sliding door replacement. Thank you again to Vlad and his entire team for helping make this process as easy and smooth as possible

Curtis At Your Service Construction Inc

Excellent. Curtis immediately contacted me when he discovered the water damage, and provided an estimate before proceeding with additional work. The work was completed on schedule. Curtis and his team always arrived/called performed when he told me they would. I highly recommend his work and service
We couldn’t have been more pleased with how the project turned out. Harley and Fred were a pleasure to work with, as were their crew members. We really appreciated their suggestions for lighting and for how to handle a challenging gate situation at the top of our stairs. Would absolutely recommend them
The work was done professionally and courteously. Clean up was done at the end of each day and left spotlessly clean. I am very pleased with the work that was done in a very timely manner and would highly recommend
He does great work and is very reasonable. The crown molding looks great. I have used him several times and just signed him on for another job. He is very courteous and would highly recommend him to others.
All remodel jobs are stressful - especially kitchens. However, this went better than any of the horror stories we heard from friends. Bella was prompt, professional and very detailed. Any challenges we had were immediately addressed, as Bella's philosophy is customer satisfaction - and they did ensure we were satisfied. Our kitchen is beautiful and we are very happy. The only thing I did not like was their electrical sub-contractor and I would ask them not to use him - he was a jerk

Excellent job overall from all trades, including tile, electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry. Workers were professional, helpful and cleaned up work areas daily. Also, good communications on project management, minimizing days with no work.
