Recent Review: Shadowfax roofing tore off our failing 25 year old cedar shake roof on our Los Altos ranch home and replaced it with composite roofing. I worked with Jerry Shaffer the owner for the estimate. I had a lot of questions and Jerry was patient and knowledgeable in his answers. You can tell he?s been doing this for a long time. We have a flat roof section that was particularly tricky because the new composite shingles would not be able to hide it from street view as well as the older, thicker wooden shakes did. Another contractor would not guarantee that the flat roof would not be seen from the street. Jerry figured it out and guaranteed his method of hiding the flat roof would work and put it in the contract. I?m really glad I chose Shadowfax. They started the job on time, their crew was polite and courteous, and they completed the work on time - really. Tearing off the roof was messy, but the Shadowfax crew did a great job of cleaning up every day so that our children and dog could safely use the yard after they were gone. Jerry stopped by regularly to make sure I was happy with the progress and quality of their work. Ramon, the job supervisor, was polite and courteous. The Shadowfax team worked harder than any bunch of guys I?ve ever seen. They completed the job in three days! It was a pleasure having them around. No rowdy language or loud music, just the sound of hammers, saws and some laughter. These guys are good and enjoy working hard together. They did a great job on the flat roof where they used an industrial strength single membrane PCV product that should last longer than my shingles. And they did an artful job of building up the front ridge in front of the flat roof so you have no idea there?s a flat roof there. The roof looks fantastic. As an added bonus Shadowfax installed a light tunnel for our dark kitchen. It works so well I keep thinking someone has left a light on in the kitchen all day long. My wife was thrilled with it. I couldn?t be happier with my choice of Shadowfax roofing.

Recent Review: I thought I needed a whole new roof. I had buckets dispersed throughouI my studio addition. Abril responded quickly, even though it was a rainy stormy week. Rick Abril came out and climbed up to inspect the situation. He concluded that we could perhaps get away with just a repair instead of a whole new roof. That's refreshing! He offered to give that a go first and, if the leaks came back, he would apply the cost of the repair to the new roof. I found him very professional and knowledgable and honest. I had him quote the removal of a stovepipe as well. The old woodstove never gets used due to the no burn days and I need the space that it takes up. I hired him to do both the repair and the stovepipe extraction and patch. It was scheduled the following week. However, a new storm was moving into the area and I got a call one morning that they would like to do the job early to avoid the coming bad weather. Yes, I said. They arrived on time and ready to work. The men were great. The job got done and they cleaned up the debris and work zone. I waited, of course, until after the latest storm to write this review. It rained like the dickens with high winds to boot. No leaks! I will now consider Abril my roofer to call. Excellent company.
