A-1 Heating and Cooling

No call no show on installation day. I had to call twice looking for them, once after two hours late, then after 5 hours late. Finally rescheduling for following day. They did show on time next day after i threatened to cancel the sale altogether. Workers arrived on time and were professional. Was told it was a one day job when sold to me, but it turned into 2.5 days with the wasted no show day. Price was good enough. Not much detail to any of the paperwork on warranties by the company. Was just happy it is over. AC is working fine. Not sure I would recommend simply because of the no show day one which was upsetting, Otherwise things went fine and as expected overall

AAA Furnace & Air Conditioning Co
5.0
For 2-3 years we had noticed that our house did not cool down adequately on hot days. After a recent hot spell, we decided to call an HVAC company to check it out. After finding AAA on Angies List, we made an appointment. On the day of the appointment, Monty arrived on time. He checked out the system, and told us that the refrigerant was low, and that this was probably the cause of our cooling problem. This made sense, and we asked him to service the unit. Within an hour, the refrigerant was recharged. From then on, we have noticed a big improvement in the AC, and it appears our problem is fixed

JE Moore Air Conditioning & Heating

I was looking for someone to check our furnace and air conditioner unit and provide basic maintenance. Nothing was wrong / broken, but both the furnace and air conditioner needed to be cleaned (at the least), and I wanted to make sure that they were both operating at optimal levels. I also thought this would be a good way to 'test' a provider in case we should experience any troubles in the future. I have had two appointments with J E Moore. Making the original appointment in Sep2010 was easy/straightforward... and J E Moore called me to schedule the pre-paid follow-up in Feb2011. Both times, the technician arrived at the scheduled time, and he was very polite and professional. I was surprised at how much time he took with each piece of equipment... After, he went over what he had done including a couple of adjustments, a number of tests and their results. The maintenance package I purchased is for four maintenance/service visits and include both air conditioner unit and furnace with appointments coinciding with the heating/cooling seasons. The 'package' also comes with other benefits -- I (luckily) have not yet had to take advantage of any of these. (P.S. -- No hard sell and no attempt to up sell.) The maintenance has definitely made a difference -- our gas usage has dropped significantly after the maintenance was performed when compared with the last three years, and although we have not had many 'hot' days, the air conditioner seems to be running more efficiently - it cycles on/off less frequently. We have more than made back the price of this maintenance contract. I have used other HVAC providers... and J E Moore far outperformed. I find J E Moore very honest and trustworthy

The owner Dale, returned my phone call and we made an appointment for an estimate. He arrived right on schedule. He looked at my current furnace (installed 17 years ago) and indicated that, although not quite as efficient as the newest ones, it should not be replaced. He gave me a bid on the air conditioner and an optional air filter. After my 2nd bid and some research, I asked him about the model air conditioner he recommended (Trane XB13) vs. the Trane XR13. The latter has a longer warranty and a bit more sound installation. He indicated that he felt the the XB13 was a better value. I opted to go with the XR 13 at $400 more. I also added the costs of duct cleaning. I made an appointment for the installation. The two installers arrived at the appointed time (9 AM). They presented me the revised estimate which I signed and the work started. During the installation I noticed that the air filter had not been installed and indicated the price included it. I failed to note that it was not on the revised bid. We called Dale, went over the bids, and he quickly agreed that a mistake had been made. He had another worker bring this to the site and it was installed. Due to the layout of my installation, the workers had a challenge running a drain and also routing a new wire to the thermostat. They succeeded with both and completed the installation. They cleaned up thoroughly behind themselves. The only small error was that the panel to the attic was not closed properly and there were some fingerprints on it. Installation was completed at 4:30

DUKES HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING
4.0
At the beginning of a six-day heatwave with temps. in the hundreds, my central air conditioning unit broke. All repair companies were overloaded with customers, but I was able to get an appointment with Dukes scheduled for a few days in the future. The time window for them to arrive was between 11 and 2 on a Wed. On that day I received a phone call around 2 p.m. from the owner telling me he was running behind but that he would definitely come later; he estimated in a few hours. At 6:15 p.m. he arrived and he and another worker quickly diagnosed the problem (a blown capacitor and the main fan blades broken from the motor); they arranged a temporary fix so that I would have air conditioning in the interim until they returned in a few days to replace the old unit, which I decided to do. That temporary fix was a life saver to me as the inside temp. in my home had been in the nineties for days. They scheduled to return early Sat. morning to install the new unit. However, I got a call on Friday asking if they could come that afternoon instead since another customer had changed his afternoon appointment; naturally I agreed. They came at the time scheduled and within an hour and a half had installed the new unit which worked perfectly. They removed the old unit and left the area clean. I found all three of the workers, including the owner, to be extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The work was well done, although I was rather surprised at the cost of the new unit, but it definitely was worth it

Hassler Heating & Air Conditioning
5.0
Call the company that installed the central air conditioner 5 years ago. Pro-tech being taken over and now called Hassler. Temp scheduled to be 102 today so we were looking for a speedy response. The company responded that they would be here about 3 pm today. Had a call at 2 pm and Mike was on his way. He went out to look at the a/c unit and after testing, declared it needed a new starting capacitor which he replaced and the air conditioner started working immediately. Mike is knowledgeable and very personable. THANKS a lot.. We hope we wont need him again but if we do we will certainly call him

AAA Furnace & Air Conditioning Co
5.0
I could not have asked for a better experience than I received from AAA Furnace. Like all providers, they educated me on the various furnace and air conditioning options that exist in the market. What set them apart is how they addressed a new code requirement for San Jose whereby the HVAC ducting in my home had to meet efficiency requirements. If you are in San Jose, you need to pay attention to this requirement when replacing your HVAC system. Basically, you can only have so much air flow leakage from your ducts and a separate contractor needs to conduct the test. I received three bids for this project. One bidder recommended replacing my entire ductwork for a cost of $6000. Another bidder had an add-on that I could purchase which seemed like a type of insurance. If the system didn't pass, they would come out and fix the problem if I had bought the add-on. If not, it would cost me a significant amount. AAA Furnace took a different approach where they first inspected my ducts and thought they were in good shape. They gave me advice that for my type of home, most air leakage occurred where the ducting connected to the register and recommended that I seal all of these. They also have their own testing machine and included a pre-test in the cost to make sure it could pass the first time. I felt they truly solved my problem at the lowest cost possible instead of using the situation to acquire a larger contract. They were also punctual, efficient in their work, and price competitive. I would highly recommend AAA Furnace

Reliable Air Mechanical
5.0
I solicited 4 top HVAC companies. Of those, three responded ... two of the three gave recommendations of Central Heating furnace replacements and they explained the strengths of their brands (all were top brands of furnaces). 'RELIABLE AIR MECHANICAL' stood out from other "estimators" by sending an HVAC Engineer rather than a "sales-marketing representative". Vic came and went through all the same steps of asking "what is the square footage of the house, etc." ... BUT, he also asked if I had a central-air conditioner AND "WHAT TONNAGE" the air conditioner was! It turned out that this was a critical factor in the air-flow for our Central Air HVAC System. If I had used the more-expensive other salesmen's recommendations, we would have restricted the central-air conditioners air-flow during the warm months. SUMMARY: we have now the new system for a winter/summer season, it is a Bryant 80 SEER 2-stage (top of Reliable's three estimated cost-performance levels, which was consistent with the lowest estimates by the two other "salesmen"); the PERFORMANCE of the Furnace is VERY VERY QUIET, VERY EFFICIENT running for much shorter periods with more efficient room-air-flow ... no "burst of cold air" AND MUCH-LOWER-GAS/ELECTRICITY-BILLs!! Also, we were AMAZED at the added benefit of a MUCH MUCH more efficient AIR CONDITIONING FUNCTION ... our "older" large central air conditioner now runs for very short periods and it pulls the house down to very cool temps in a very rapid/short time where before it would run for long-long times with marginal cooling. VIC & Reliable Air Mechanical are the very BEST because they KNOW HVAC Systems and will calculate the mechanical sizing and performance of the ENTIRE SYSTEM (furnace, air-conditioner, HVAC 'Ducting-Plenum Sizing', etc.). When replacing a furnace or air-conditioner it is ESSENTIAL to have a technical person trained in HVAC ENGINEERING, it makes ALL-THE-DIFFERENCE in gaining efficiency in home-central-air systems. PS> Our PG&E Bill has fallen, with the exact same use year-to-year by from 7% to 10% ... while the Heating & Cooling comfort have risen to an "excellent comfort" level. My wife and I are exceptionally pleased that we selected Reliable Air Mechanical !!! One last comment: they showed up on-time, worked cleanly and quietly. The entire job was fully completed with full-duct-insulation, installation of a an excellent new thermostat and "operating instruction", in one short day

AAA Furnace & Air Conditioning Co

Call several Angie's List A rated contractors when my Air Conditioner failed. AAA was my first call and they ended up having the shortest response time and could have a technician at my home in about 3 days. Other companies I contacted were over a week. There was a heat wave going on and everyone was very busy. Brian from AAA call prior to the scheduled start time and said he would be there in less than 30 minutes. He arrived as stated and started working after I explained the problem. He determined almost immediately that the start run capacitor used by the compressor and fan was probably bad and wanted to check it first. It was determined to be bad so he replaced it and the unit started working. He recommended that I have the contactor relay replaced also so I did. We estimated the air conditioner to be about 15 to 20 years old. Very happy with the experience. Thanks AAA and Brian

Blackwell Heating & Air

They were very reliable about coming when they said that they would. They got the work done. They worked in a lot of cities and had a lot of codes. So, the electrical connection part was not meeting the satisfaction of the code inspector in San Jose. They came back as many times as it took to fix it until the inspector was happy. They took care of that and there was no problem. Eventhough, they were good about coming back and fixing it for the inspector, I thought that they should have been a little bit more on top of what San Jose would expect. Their price was within a reasonable range but was the lowest of the three bids that I got. Hence, their price was very good

Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar
5.0
Valley Heating, Cooling and Electrical came out to repair the air conditioner and we seem to be having problems with that so we still have the same issue with it. They fixed it at that time and the problem happened again.
Highly recommended. Ricardo is a very honest and professional person. This is the only company that will give you an honest estimate. Others (you will easily find who they are) will never give you an estimate regardless how precisely you describe the necessary repair job. They charge you $30, $50, or $200 for so called "diagnostic", which is 2 minutes of work, and then blackmail you with arbitrary negotiable price. I am writing this because I called a company that charged me $30 to to tell me what I know and then requested $1200 (subsequently negotiated and reduced to $850) for a 10 minute job (replacement of a faulty motor attached with 3 screws), what I rejected. Bayhill Heat & Air requested the description of the problem, then provided a fixed estimate where the total labor was $180. Every company can replace a motor, but this can be done in an honest way or in a way which first humiliates the customer and then blackmails and overcharges. I think that my contact with Bayhill Heat & Air was a positive experience, and in particular I would like to recommend Ricardo as a man who speaks in a direct and honest way, gives reasonable advises and performs repair on time for a very reasonable price
I had dryer issues and Don was my tech who was very thorough and knowledgeable. He made the repair process much easier for me! Thank you Neli Virtual Appliance Repair! I will be back!
Star is a great communicator and listen to what I needed done. He completed the items and made great suggestions. His follow up after the completion was very thoughtful. I will use him again for certain!
The ignition they came out was really great. He gave us advice. We actually ordered one that wouldn’t fit so we found the better option to choose to install in the home. It works out great. He put everything up the code pass with good fortune with flying colors. We were actually way under code beforehand and now we’re up code and I was very happy. They were in and out very quickly, really good prices, and they clean up after themselves. I like their customer service primarily. These guys are wonderful. I would definitely use them again in the future especially at home when something goes wrong definitely
We had a problem with out furnace. I was able to make an appointment with Boudreau within a day or two. The technician they sent was prompt, knowledgeable and very knowledgeable. He fixed our furnace with just a single trip (had the needed part in his truck) and we were able to enjoy Thanksgiving with heat in our house
This requires proper way to do this, instead of just connecting hose and empty the tank one time. Should look into the water to see if debris are coming out,etc...
Not in their usual repairs, I needed a rubber tube replaced in my heating unit. As I have aged I have many simple things that I can no longer do. I had called my Ac repair place that does my maintenance and they wanted $50 more to come out to repair a simple tube. So I called Martin's and explained my problem. They came right out and fixed it for a reasonable amount of money. It has worked fine ever since. Martin Plumbing is the best repair business I have ever dealt with - even after 16 years in real estate. The very best...
I had a question about microwave repair. He answered all my questions and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately new parts are no longer available for model in question. He gave me part # if I wanted to call around for a used part somewhere. Got lots of good info.
Anthony was just great. He showed up, he diagnosed the furnace problem quickly, ordered the part and came back to install it within a couple of days. I was really pleased!
The repairman found that a fuse was blown. He replaced the fuse and advised me on how to replace them myself in the future and what to do to avoid blowing such fuses. Also discussed thermostat, then he moved the air vent to not blow on the thermostat, distorting the room temperature reading. Very professional and prompt
Went very well. The appointment was made for the day after I called. The technician Danny arrived on the front end of the appt window and did a professional and efficient job of confirming a failed capacitor and replacing it. The air conditioner is fully functional again. Responsiveness, as well as time and cost to repair, are worthy of a big recommendation
Initially I contacted ABC to repair a faulty furnance on a weekend in the winter of 2012. They were one of a very few companies who offer service on the weekend. They responded within an hour. A blower motor was found defective. Unfortunately, it had to be ordered, which took over a week. The new blower was installed succesfully. The technician suggested we get a quote for a new furnance, which we did, since it was about 15 years old. We had a new furnance and central air conditioner installed in March 2012. The installation took almost 2 full days but without any issues. Technicians were professional and well trained. The installation was inspected by a City of San Jose building inspector. He mentioned that he was familiar with ABC's work and didn't expect any issues based upon his experience with the company. He found no issues and passed the installation. It has been working fine for amost one year
