Gabriel and his crew did a great job of removing the concrete, saving most of the flagstone for reuse, then laying the patio over 3" of pack gravel and sweeping in 2" of decomposed granite. The only regret I have is not being more clear about adding a little concrete powder to the decomposed granite, so it would harden when made wet. Luckily, we have some extra and will use it again when the original sifts down. But would have preferred to have it done the first time round. May have been because of a miscommunication on my end. Gabriel is a solid guy and good communicator. Brings a nice crew too.

Great! Christie came out ahead of time and talked through the project with me. The crew arrived right on time on the work day. As we talked it through again, we revised the plan, coming up with something I liked even better. The crew was hardworking and polite. And, so efficient! They were done hours before I expected. Would definitely use these folks again!

The initial price estimate was 20% less than others contacted. The work began on time. The owner, Lee, and his crew were at my home every morning at 8 a.m. Lee was willing to discuss and even help with other landscaping issues that were not part of the contracted work. I was disappointed with some of the paver work. When they completed the project, some glue and slurry stains were obvious (including a slurry-stain handprint of one of their workers). They came back a couple months later and attempted to fix the problem with acid. They then created acid stains on about 1/3 of my pavers. They had to come back again to power wash again with more acid. It doesn't look right, but I'm frankly sick of dealing with them. They did some decomposed granite paths. It was fair, but when they finished they left base rock along some areas of the path. Sloppy. Also, their "efforts" to seal the paths were a failure. Overall, the price was great and now I know why. Attention to detail? Forget about it. Did someone once say, "You get what you pay for"?

The initial sales experience and design was excellent. The excavation and installation was another story. From the first day the workers were cutting corners. They did not excavate to the depth that System Pavers stipulated in their specifications before they started to put in the base layer of gravel and weed barrier. They left their lunch garbage in the yard. They did not put adequate sand between the pavers and there were areas where there was zero sand between the pavers. There was no portable toilet for 2 1/2 days for the workers. Each of the problems was brought to the attention of the project manager. While each of the problems was corrected, the type of problems led us to believe that work quality is not a company value. We got a reasonable quality product only because we were vigilant during the entire process. Within 60 days of installation the following happened. We had to replenish the sand between the pavers as many areas no longer had sand. System Pavers hires a private company to survey clients. We received a phone message from the project manager saying he was disappointed in our review and that if we were willing to improve our review, he would give us some free services. This is really bad and makes us wonder how many reviews were "improved" in return for free services.

The crew were incredibly nice and Gabriel was nice to work with. Unfortunately, they forgot to add a bonding agent to the decomposed granite, so it would set more firmly, so the finished look didn't last very long. We also talked about doing some other landscaping work, but Gabriel stopped responding to my texts. I hope something bad didn't happen with him or his family, because it did seem uncharacteristic. I'd be hesitant to hire again without an explanation that made sense.

Our project involved both deck construction and hardscaping, and we wanted a contractor who could do both jobs. Based on recommendations we found on Angies’s List, we picked Highland Landscape. We weren’t disappointed. Lee Tavare and his crew (3 total) were in and out in just under 2 weeks, and the result is fantastic. We wouldn’t change a thing. Lee was very responsive to what we wanted, and all his suggestions along the way resulted in either improvements or cost savings. The construction is first-rate, the deck is really solid. After finally dumping an architect who wanted to design a Taj Mahal at exhorbitant cost, we couldn’t believe how easy it was to get just what we wanted. The bid was less than we expected, and some unrelated jobs (rebuilding a fence, etc.) were done on a time and materials basis at very reasonable cost. One thing we especially appreciated was the absence of unnecessary noise and disruption (no radios playing). Everyone seemed focused on getting the job done. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Extremely well. Excellent communication and planning with Alejandro and Ignacio, the owners. Reliable, punctual, friendly, meticulous, no surprises and easy to work with. On my side I developed the landscape plan, we discussed it, made a few changes and their quote reflected my requests. We both had questions/requests during the different stages of the project (roughly 2 weeks excluding rain days), so communication was very fluid either on site, text or via email. They worked with me on the fence design and responded to all of my questions regarding decomposed granite, new drip system, etc. Great team to work with and I would hire them again on any other landscaping/hardscaping project. Fair quote and they did most of the legwork.

Recent Review: It went well! The work looks nice; the only thing I would do differently is to get in writing more of what work processes would actually be used. For example, I though he would remove more material that was left over from previous landscaping, when instead he just mulched over the top of it. I think that was more MY fault for not being clear with my expectations.

Recent Review: We are very pleased with the results. The artificial lawns look really good and real, the designs were respected, with drought resistant plants, decomposed granit paths, and 3 new trees. The foreman and his team were very professional, came on time, cleaned up every evening before they left and finished the job in good time. Steve (Vince's son) was very responsive to our requests and always returned phone calls in good time. He went the extra mile to please us, like replacing plants which had died, which is inevitable in this heat, adding more mulch and improving the paths even more, after the job was finished. Overall we are pleased and highly recommend this company.

Recent Review: Dago was recommended by the landscape architect that we utilized. His bid was within several hundred dollars of another well established landscaper that we had contacted. We chose Dago upon our architect's recommendation as we were told that they had worked well together for years. We contracted for the work several months in advance and were pleased when he began exactly on the day promised. He and his crew were timely, neat and productive throughout the project. We also have dogs and we were easily able to work their schedules around the construction. There were no cost surprises as we moved forward and as he adapted his work to the real world issues which arose. He worked well with the architect and followed her direction completely.

Recent Review: Jack has always been very easy to work with, including revisions to the hardscape plan to help us stay on budget. He and his crew (Arturo and Chano) show up on time and finish when promised. They work quickly and always clean up after themselves. All of the major work is done now in our front and back yards, but if we ever need anything again, I will definitely call Jack at ABC Landscaping.

Recent Review: Roselio and his crew were wonderful!! They are such good workers and did it all cheerfully because it was very hard work. They followed directions and even though there is sometimes a language problem with the workers, everything was still done as we wanted it. We feel Roselio uses good products and knows a great deal about irrigation. The crew cleans up very well after each stage of the job and went the "extra mile" to make us happy (like moving plants after they planted them and we changed our minds about where they should go)! Roselio also knows a lot about plants and was able to transplant existing plants successfully. We recommend his company and in fact, our next door neighbors will be using him this week after seeing our successful project! It is nice to find such a hard-working, conscientious company as Samayoa Landscaping!

Recent Review: I got Ana's name from a friend whose yard she had done (and I had admired). At our first meeting, Ana came to my house and spent about an hour and a half reviewing plans I had drawn up by another landscape architect. The plans were too expensive and Ana had several ideas about how to reduce my costs without sacrificing my wants. I hired her and had no regrets. She was at my home every day during the project (which lasted about 2 months) to check on things, meet with the plumber or electrician or city inspector. Her employees were punctual, respectful and cleaned up on a daily basis. I really felt like Ana listened to me and understood what I wanted. The final result is beautiful and we have had many BBQs in our new backyard!

Recent Review: We had 3 landscapers come out to give us estimates, and several more who said they were coming but never did. Of the 3 who came out, one never got the estimate to us, one gave us an estimate that doubled our budget and included items that we said we didn't want! Mark listened to us and gave us exactly what we wanted. He stayed right on his estimate except in cases where we added something or decided to use different materials. The guys on the crew were friendly and efficient. My only small complaint is that I never got to see the sketches of the design before it went it - that might have helped to clear up some confusion about where we were putting a yard swing we got ourselves. There were a few days where they had to move the crew to another site, but Mark always called to let me know and they finished the job on schedule.

Recent Review: Kim told us the job would take 3 - 4 weeks, but it did take closer to twice that amount of time; this was o.k. with us as we were in no hurry. Kim is NOT a designer, but will do exactly what you ask for, so it's best to have detailed plans for him. He followed our plans exactly and changed anything we didn't like, often immediately. We did go over-budget, but this was because we asked for many extras not included in the original estimate; Kim always gave a fair price. His crew, though not large, was extremely hard working, often staying for 12 hours. Kim would come over pretty regularly in the early evenings to check on the work and talk to us about it, which we very much appreciated. He was always easy to get ahold of and very responsive. I would definitely hire him again.

Recent Review: I told the start to finish story in the panel above. My only suggestion is for Mr. Hernandez to provide a more detailed estimate to his clients. I had not doubt he was a capable landscaper and he was enthusiastic about my project. I liked him. As far as my contact with him, it went very well. I think he may be used to working with people who know him or know his reputation through reliable friends. I did not have that advantage.
