I called Maki as the work they did and the pricing from other reviewers seemed fair. The day they were supposed to come for the estimate, they were a no-show with no call to let me know. I followed up and he sent Sam Alusa. I negotiated a package of work and felt good about what was to be done. Throughout the project Sam kept telling me to 'trust him', as I continued to pay as he went. It was after the project was finished that I found out you don't have to pay more than a $1000 deposit for a contractor in the State of CA. This group was sloppy and left my project with several unfinished issues. There were 2 large cracks in my walkways within a week. Another long crack in the back patio. He said he guaranteed his work for a year and would fix everything. He has not fixed anything. My front porch, while it could have been cute, was left with cement marks all over the pavers because they didn't clean up. I can't fix that. The concrete is also dirty and won't clean off. They were sloppy. They took away most of the cement from my yard, but since they finished, I am constantly finding cement that was buried in various parts of my yard as well as garbage they left behind. They also buried the grass they pulled up instead of hauling it away. All of this was found as I was doing other projects. They poured a cement border around my yard which is crumbling away. They didn't use any sort of reinforcement in the cement for either the border or the patio, saying it wasn't a good idea in the event it needed to be fixed...well, a lot of good that did since they won't come back to fix it. The concrete that was poured for my patio slopes to the house, which will result in water in the house if I don't fix it. At the least I will spend another 4-5000 for a covered overhang as a possible fix. He charged me $1100 for sprinkler supplies to redo my system and may have spent $100. And I learned he didn't use anything that was new. The unit he used to connect the water to my pipes didn't have a pressure valve to prevent water from coming in the house if there was a problem. The piece he used was not up to code. I have already paid out $2000 to other contractors to repair the issues with my sprinklers and replace sod due to the sprinkler problems. Turns out this Sam guy didn't even give me his number, he gave me one of his workers numbers so I can't get in touch with him. I called Maki on 2 occasions asking to get this guy back to fix my work and never heard back. Maki states this wasn't his project, but I went through Angie's list for his services, not someone else's and I wasn't told that he sent it to another company who I now cannot locate. Maki, you need take ownership for this project and come back to fix it!
