Gabriel and his crew did a great job of removing the concrete, saving most of the flagstone for reuse, then laying the patio over 3" of pack gravel and sweeping in 2" of decomposed granite. The only regret I have is not being more clear about adding a little concrete powder to the decomposed granite, so it would harden when made wet. Luckily, we have some extra and will use it again when the original sifts down. But would have preferred to have it done the first time round. May have been because of a miscommunication on my end. Gabriel is a solid guy and good communicator. Brings a nice crew too.

Great! Christie came out ahead of time and talked through the project with me. The crew arrived right on time on the work day. As we talked it through again, we revised the plan, coming up with something I liked even better. The crew was hardworking and polite. And, so efficient! They were done hours before I expected. Would definitely use these folks again!

The initial sales experience and design was excellent. The excavation and installation was another story. From the first day the workers were cutting corners. They did not excavate to the depth that System Pavers stipulated in their specifications before they started to put in the base layer of gravel and weed barrier. They left their lunch garbage in the yard. They did not put adequate sand between the pavers and there were areas where there was zero sand between the pavers. There was no portable toilet for 2 1/2 days for the workers. Each of the problems was brought to the attention of the project manager. While each of the problems was corrected, the type of problems led us to believe that work quality is not a company value. We got a reasonable quality product only because we were vigilant during the entire process. Within 60 days of installation the following happened. We had to replenish the sand between the pavers as many areas no longer had sand. System Pavers hires a private company to survey clients. We received a phone message from the project manager saying he was disappointed in our review and that if we were willing to improve our review, he would give us some free services. This is really bad and makes us wonder how many reviews were "improved" in return for free services.

The initial price estimate was 20% less than others contacted. The work began on time. The owner, Lee, and his crew were at my home every morning at 8 a.m. Lee was willing to discuss and even help with other landscaping issues that were not part of the contracted work. I was disappointed with some of the paver work. When they completed the project, some glue and slurry stains were obvious (including a slurry-stain handprint of one of their workers). They came back a couple months later and attempted to fix the problem with acid. They then created acid stains on about 1/3 of my pavers. They had to come back again to power wash again with more acid. It doesn't look right, but I'm frankly sick of dealing with them. They did some decomposed granite paths. It was fair, but when they finished they left base rock along some areas of the path. Sloppy. Also, their "efforts" to seal the paths were a failure. Overall, the price was great and now I know why. Attention to detail? Forget about it. Did someone once say, "You get what you pay for"?

Elton Pang the Design Specialist supervised the project from start to finish. Was very responsive to my concerns. Roberto and crew worked hard. Finished the job ahead of schedule. They were polite and helpful. My yard looks so much better, thanks to them.

KING KONGS HAULING AND DEMOLITION

The crew were incredibly nice and Gabriel was nice to work with. Unfortunately, they forgot to add a bonding agent to the decomposed granite, so it would set more firmly, so the finished look didn't last very long. We also talked about doing some other landscaping work, but Gabriel stopped responding to my texts. I hope something bad didn't happen with him or his family, because it did seem uncharacteristic. I'd be hesitant to hire again without an explanation that made sense.

Highland Landscape

Our project involved both deck construction and hardscaping, and we wanted a contractor who could do both jobs. Based on recommendations we found on Angies’s List, we picked Highland Landscape. We weren’t disappointed. Lee Tavare and his crew (3 total) were in and out in just under 2 weeks, and the result is fantastic. We wouldn’t change a thing. Lee was very responsive to what we wanted, and all his suggestions along the way resulted in either improvements or cost savings. The construction is first-rate, the deck is really solid. After finally dumping an architect who wanted to design a Taj Mahal at exhorbitant cost, we couldn’t believe how easy it was to get just what we wanted. The bid was less than we expected, and some unrelated jobs (rebuilding a fence, etc.) were done on a time and materials basis at very reasonable cost. One thing we especially appreciated was the absence of unnecessary noise and disruption (no radios playing). Everyone seemed focused on getting the job done. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Extremely well. Excellent communication and planning with Alejandro and Ignacio, the owners. Reliable, punctual, friendly, meticulous, no surprises and easy to work with. On my side I developed the landscape plan, we discussed it, made a few changes and their quote reflected my requests. We both had questions/requests during the different stages of the project (roughly 2 weeks excluding rain days), so communication was very fluid either on site, text or via email. They worked with me on the fence design and responded to all of my questions regarding decomposed granite, new drip system, etc. Great team to work with and I would hire them again on any other landscaping/hardscaping project. Fair quote and they did most of the legwork.

Recent Review: It went well! The work looks nice; the only thing I would do differently is to get in writing more of what work processes would actually be used. For example, I though he would remove more material that was left over from previous landscaping, when instead he just mulched over the top of it. I think that was more MY fault for not being clear with my expectations.
