Their response was always fast and very professional. The house was being readied for rental and since I lived out of state I wasn't available to choose the granite. They went to their resources and picked which pieces would work best, sent me pictures and their recommendations. The granite that was chosen had a natural line that ran through the piece, but they were able to cut the granite so that it was elimitated. They made the whole process so easy and the results were beautiful. I had other quotes for this job that came in twice as much. I continue to use Heartwood for all projects for this house. I know the tasks are done well and don't have to worry about follow ups. I just wish they also worked out of state!

Jose and his guys did an excellent job. They matched the flooring color exactly. They were punctual and took every precaution to minimize sanding dust. They completed the work on time and for the price they quoted. The even performed an additional staining/varnishing task at no extra cost. Jose was extremely responsive to our needs and very pleasant to deal with. This was an economically attractive alternative to either refacing existing cabinets or (particularly) fabricating new ones.

We had great experience with AKB. Since this was our first ever remodel project, we were a bit apprehensive about the process and the cost. Karl/Joe put us at ease with detailed breakdown of cost and by giving the detailed picture of the process. Their crew was very professional and friendly. They always came on time and listened to us for any last minute changes. The project was completed on time. They gave us significant discount on additional material/labor when they discovered a mismatch between old cabinet hardware and new one (which wasn't due to their fault). In addition they provided us with a consultant/interior decorator to help us select the various materials. Compared to many other places we talked to, only AKB offered this kind of service w/o any extra charge. Joe would come at end of every day to inspect the progress and made sure that the quality of workmanship was great. Overall we were extremely satisfied with how the kitchen came out and with AKB's team of professionals.

Our kitchen walls, window sills, cabinet doors and pantry doors needed painting. Nick was prompt, neat, careful and respectful of our home. He prepared the surfaces (including a wallpapered wall) by sanding, puttying and priming them before painting. He removed the old cabinet hardware which was centered on each door and replaced them with new hardware and hinges in a more desirous location. He taped everything and protected all with drop cloths. He repaired our countertop at the seam. He cleaned up everything before he left at night. With the exception of one night, we were able to use the kitchen during the process. He was well organized. Nick also chipped, sanded and repainted our entryway stairs. He fixed our front door which was sticking and installed weatherproofing. He fixed and adjusted one cafe door by installing a new hinge. He repaired the front window box and installed new curtain rods in an area we could not reach by ourselves. Although never asked, he cleaned the ceiling tiles. Nick takes pride in doing a good job and does class work. We will definitely call him again in the future.

BURMAN CABINET CORP

Great design team and excellent quality. OPur assigned project manager was very helpful and professional in sharing ideas and assisting with all aspects of the layout. The cabinets were completed on time to be passed to the finisher for finishing. The business is family owned and operated and they take pride in their relationship with the customer. Our general contractor recommended them as one of the cabinet construction firms to interview and they were our first choice. The general later commented that 90% plus of the time after meeting with Burman, the clients elected to use them.

Kenney Construction

Dave Kenney responded quickly to our request for a quote. He came to our house where we were able to go over all of the options and details of the project. His experience on such projects was quickly apparent. We received the written quote via email in less than 24 hours. By agreement, we rounded up most of the fixtures and hardware ourselves, which gave us the opportunity to pick out exactly what we wanted. When the day came to start the project (and every day thereafter), Dave and his son showed up right on the dot. His son proved to be quite adept at nearly every aspect of the job. As a team, they got things going very quickly. We were amazed at how thoroughly they cleaned the place up at the end of each work day. For the entire duration of the project, that bathroom was the tidiest room in the house. When the custom tile work began, Dave proved to know his craft well, and his son was already doing a very professional job of it himself. We couldn't help but take note of the attention to detail that they both demonstrated. The tiles weren't just slapped up randomly. Since each piece of porcelain tile was different, they carefully balanced the color, patterns, and grain to give the most appealing appearance. They did the same for every piece of trim, both on the shower and on the floor. To our delight they finished the job ahead of schedule. When we requested a couple of minor follow-up tweaks and adjustments in the days that followed, they showed up the same day and took care of them at no extra charge. It's possible we could have done better, but we really can't imagine how. When our next project comes along we'll save time by not having to shop around. We'll just call Kenney Construction.

Walt's Quality Painting
5.0
We found Walt here on Angie's list seeing that he has all great reviews. From the start, Walt seemed to us very trustworthy and knew what he was doing. We wanted our kitchen cabinets painted white with a nice smooth finish. During the free estimate, Walt presented us with paint choices and we were able to find one that matched closely with our white doors. He gave us a thorough overview of what he planned to do and walked us through the whole process. What he described was what he delivered. It took around 6 and a half day for the job to finish. Walt was on time every day. He prepped our kitchen thoroughly each day draping plastic sheets and/or clothes over our countertops and other things. He cleaned up his work in our kitchen at the end of each day so that we can continue to use it when he left for the night. The end product turned out great! The cabinet surfaces are smooth and the edges are super straight and clean! He even touched up some of our mistakes on the walls around the cabinets! He restored all the child proofing locks on our cabinets, and added extra padding to the cabinet doors. We couldn't be happier with the results! We plan to have him back to install cabinets hardware once we've chosen our set.

California Casework

It was great working with Cliff and both his shop and onsite crews. All of them were prompt, responsive, and kept the work areas onsite as clean as they could. They coordinated very well with the general contractor and other subcontractors, as we were concurrently having a major renovation done, the new kitchen just being a part of it. Cliff was great at offering design suggestions, providing diagrams and explaining costs of wood/door types and styles. He was even willing to use cabinet hardware we ordered on our own, and a door style from a company whose catalog he didn't have: just gave him samples and specs, and worked things out correctly. Both he and Jason (Jay? he was the onsite foreman) patiently explained how to adjust the drawers and doors, too. I would highly recommend this company for anyone seeking cabinetry or other woodwork jobs. As mentioned above, he was even willing to do a small job for us by providing cherry wood shelving for our bookshelf system. Advice addendum: We learned from both Cliff and some of our kitchen-savvy friends that instead of installing rollout drawers inside of undercounter cabinets, just install pot drawers there instead. Pot drawers are much more stable, easier to use, and more space efficient.
