Palm Construction
Palm Construction installed new asphalt shingle roof on my house and they did high quality, quick and smooth work. They didn't made single mistake and my roof passed all inspections. Excellent experience! Thank you Palm Construction!

Everyone was great. Robert presented all the facts clearly and specified all prices and why. The crews were all punctual and cleaned up thoroughly,

William took time in the beginning to explain the steps they would follow to replace our roof and gave us a free estimate. He also emailed me a guide to replacing your roof, which was very helpful. Once we got a date set, they got a permit from the city and in 4 days we had a new beautiful roof. They showed up on time every day and when they finished each day, they cleaned up all the debris and hauled it away. I think that our walkway and drive were cleaner when they left then when we began! The men replacing the roof were also very professional and courteous. There were no problems passing the roof inspection. I would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking about replacing their roof.

The first time George came out, he laser measured the roof to avoid damaging it, showed us samples and gave us a list of 100 local addresses to look at previous work. After signing the contract, he followed up with a 17-page booklet on the roofing process and what to expect, and provided copies of licenses, insurance and permits. George scheduled within a week of signing the contract for a date the following week for a four day job. The work was completed very efficiently, on time and for the exact amount of the estimate. Finally, when I asked for a referral to an electrician, George recommended a firm that came out immediately and provided equally good service. I highly recommend this company.

Sonrise Roofing
Sonrise did a fabulous job. They were very responsive to my calls and questions about the roof and solotube options. On the days of the job the workers were quick and efficient. The only negative was a misunderstanding about whether the roof rot repair was ready for inspection by the termite inspector as the house was being prepared for sale. But the company repaired all areas that the termite inspector pointed out, and it passed inspection. The work was even finished a day early. Great job.

Estimator (Brian) was professional on the phone and in-person. Contacted me within 24 hours of my request for a quote. Made an appointment at my convenience to come out and look at the roof for an estimate. Brian showed up on time, not early or late. We talked for a few minutes and then, without ever looking at my roof except from the ground, told me they'd need to tear off the existing roof and replace it. I pointed out that my roof was 22 years old, had never leaked, and that I knew from my own experience was structurally sound (I'm up on it 2-3 times a year - I've walked ever inch of it and inspect it from the top, as well as from inside the attic, annually). He said he couldn't give me an estimate to do a "lay-over" roof, they only do tear-offs and new roof installs. No exceptions. Not his decision, it's his "boss' policy." Something to do with them being "master elite installers"(?). So, they may or may not be the world's greatest roofing company - I guess I'll never know. I DO know I'm not going to hire someone to provide a more expensive service that I don't think I need, just because "it's their policy." Had he inspected my roof and was able to show me why it needed to be torn off, I would have considered it. But he refused to even bid the job unless they were going to tear off and replace a basically sound roof. I suggest they save themselves and consumers valuable time by posting on their website that they don't do lay-over roofing, only tear-off and replace.

Pretty smooth, installed roof within a week, came back when we were finished with Stucco and finished down spouts and finished gutters. Roof was completed in a day and 1/2.

I really enjoy these people, they are prompt and responsible. The price is very reasonable, too. They are really good people, and when you call them they come quickly. Clean up was done well after they finished.

We got bids from two different companies. They provided a reasonable bid and did the work as promised.

Westshore Roofing Inc
My wife had the most interaction with Westshore and really liked the rep who gave us the estimate. The roof itself looks good and seems to have been done well. Here are the issues we had. There was very little contact/notice about when work would start or finish. We were given a window and then a crew just showed up and started working. Daily cleanup was half-hearted. Tools and materials were left around the yard. Once the removal crew was done they left a rake, ladder, and tarp behind. We contacted Westshore about it and they said it wasn't their problem since they apparently subcontract the removal. We still have the items. A competing company came back with a slightly lower bid but we went with Westshore because the rep seemed like a good guy. The other company also offered to take $1000 off if we let them put a sign in the yard [we live on a somewhat busy street]. Westshore put up a sign without asking and didn't offer us anything. One of the workers put a hole in the roof over the garage. They didn't report it or fix it. I had to point it out to them after which they simply nailed a piece of wood over the hole. Clean up after work was done was terrible. I've picked up dozens of nails around the yard and in the garage.

Recent Review: It went very well. They came on time, gave a competitive estimate, and did the job well. When there were some areas in the roof deck that needed repair, they did the repairs at no additional charge. There was a small miscommunication about which gutters were to get gutter-screens, but when I pointed out that some of them were missing, they came back right away and fixed it. The crew was courteous, and cleaned up the job site daily. I'm very happy with the work they did.

Recent Review: Scudder is terrific. I highly recommend their services. They are extremely competent and professional. The guys that do the work have many years of experience. They think of all the things that I didn't know enough to worry about, and told me how they were going to address all these issues. For example, protecting our plants, providing a porta-potty, choosing good roofing materials that are in my budget but of very high quality. The preconstruction meeting went well once everyone's schedules were coordinated. The foreman for each aspect of the job was present to make sure that everything was scheduled and completed according to plan. The solar installation was done much quicker than we'd hoped for. Scudder certainly isn't the cheapest roofing company in the area, but I think that it is well worth their prices to have peace of mind that we are being taken care of by an experience company and crew that knows what they are doing. Even though we were probably a small job for them, we felt very valued as a customer. I highly recommend their service!

Recent Review: Shadowfax roofing tore off our failing 25 year old cedar shake roof on our Los Altos ranch home and replaced it with composite roofing. I worked with Jerry Shaffer the owner for the estimate. I had a lot of questions and Jerry was patient and knowledgeable in his answers. You can tell he?s been doing this for a long time. We have a flat roof section that was particularly tricky because the new composite shingles would not be able to hide it from street view as well as the older, thicker wooden shakes did. Another contractor would not guarantee that the flat roof would not be seen from the street. Jerry figured it out and guaranteed his method of hiding the flat roof would work and put it in the contract. I?m really glad I chose Shadowfax. They started the job on time, their crew was polite and courteous, and they completed the work on time - really. Tearing off the roof was messy, but the Shadowfax crew did a great job of cleaning up every day so that our children and dog could safely use the yard after they were gone. Jerry stopped by regularly to make sure I was happy with the progress and quality of their work. Ramon, the job supervisor, was polite and courteous. The Shadowfax team worked harder than any bunch of guys I?ve ever seen. They completed the job in three days! It was a pleasure having them around. No rowdy language or loud music, just the sound of hammers, saws and some laughter. These guys are good and enjoy working hard together. They did a great job on the flat roof where they used an industrial strength single membrane PCV product that should last longer than my shingles. And they did an artful job of building up the front ridge in front of the flat roof so you have no idea there?s a flat roof there. The roof looks fantastic. As an added bonus Shadowfax installed a light tunnel for our dark kitchen. It works so well I keep thinking someone has left a light on in the kitchen all day long. My wife was thrilled with it. I couldn?t be happier with my choice of Shadowfax roofing.

Recent Review: Met with Adam for an estimate, he was the primary contact. They were the lowest estimate, so I decided to go with them. Work was scheduled for about 2 weeks later. I work during the day, so never saw the workers, except for first thing in the morning as I was leaving. The work was done well, and within the time frame estimated. Luckily, the 50 year old house had only a small amount of wood that needed to be replaced-yeah!. After the roof was done, I was waiting for the city of Huntington Beach to come out and do the final inspection and was not too happy to find out that the city building inspector requires that a ladder be furnished for the final inspection-seriously??? What building inspector doesn't have their own ladder??-but this review is not about them. Adam arranged to have a ladder brought out to my house and rescheduled the inspection, so now everything is completed and I didn't have to borrow or buy a ladder. That extra effort made my day!

Recent Review: I am so completely grateful to Wedge for my new roof! Especially after what I went through before I found Wedge! Wedge installed a new GAF composite shingle roof and spray foam insulation, which was sadly to replace a and quot;new roofand quot; that was installed incorrectly by another area roofer. Fortunately Wedge has on their team an aeronautics engineer with a Bowing background, who correctly solved the ventilation problem the last roofer had left for me. I only wish he had mentioned this expertise sooner so I would have been more at ease all along! I originally received four quotes and had thought that I had chosen the best roofer. I am experienced with remodeling but I did not know anything about venting roofs. Three of the four roofers that originally wrote quotes would have built the roof and venting incorrectly (including the one I chose). The fourth quoted a price about twice as high as others but would not answer my questions about why his quote was so much higher, so I did not understand what a proper roof entailed. *** Be careful if you are looking for a roofer, because there are roofers out there who do not know about venting, even though this knowledge is required by their licenses; they are still licensed and are still being recommended and positively reviewed on the jobs that happen to work out for them, some temporarily. *** It was six months later when there was a storm that the venting problems appeared. If a roof is not vented properly, I have learned the hard way, it will mildew in the rain and deteriorate in the heat. The first roof looked beautiful so I would not have even known I needed the expertise Wedge would offer me later. It was a painful process to deal with the bond company who did not want to cover the repair costs and the state who did not want to provide the information I needed to know how to repair my roof correctly. I was not fully compensated, which bothered me less than not receiving solid information and the support of knowledge from the state, and feeling misled by offices that are supposed to help consumers correct these types of errors, and set proper licensing requirements. The original contractor attempted to cause further troubles for me that would make you gasp. I am still able to sleep better after hiring Wedge and knowing that the proper roof I now have is worth what I paid. I also have better insulation now for the added price. It is a good value. Wedge replaced the roof and installed the spray foam in one (long) day, cleaned up the grounds afterwards, and returned to vacuum the dust that fell in the attic. It was a great, low stress day. The crew was polite, and performed their jobs well. I had so many questions for months before the roof replacement because of what I had already gone through, and Wedge fielded all of my questions, provided materials and resources, and communicated with me during all of the time of my bond settlement until I was ready to complete the job. They helped me to schedule the date in advance and also were willing to move my appointment earlier when there were changes to my schedule. They went through extra requirements of the inspectors under permit since the first permitted roof had been approved. Also note they are one of maybe three that install spray foam and there are only two I would trust. I am glad to provide a verbal reference for Wedge to help roofing customers avoid the nightmare I experienced. I would have been so glad if I had hired Wedge first. They are now my one and only.
