Reviews for Metal Stairs in San Antonio

Serratos Burglar Bars and Fences
5.0
Serrato's did an outstanding job. The bid was $1000 less than closest competitor, the timeline for fabrication was much faster (10 days vs 1-2 months), and the dimensions of the staircase matched the previous wooden installation (other bidders advised they would be narrower), with modifications to make sure everything was up to code. Work began immediately after we signed the contract and made a down payment for the job. I was given the choice between concrete and metal steps and landing. All steel were primered and painted, also all spot-welds were sanded, primered and painted. The stairs were installed within 10 days. Installation was delayed by 2 days, but Fernando (the owner of the company) called to explain that an issue at another worksite prevented him from starting. Once the work was underway it was completed efficiently. The quality of the workmanship was first-rate. I would give the highest recommendation to Serrato's.

I can't recommend Leslie and John enough, they did an all around excellent job. Aside from them being great people, they did great educating me on building codes and pointing out safety hazards with my current staircase. They kept me informed every step of the way and the end result was beyond what I had expected, the new staircase transformed my house. Will recommended them in the future for sure. Thanks guys!

Ace Handyman Services San Antonio
5.0
The handyman took care when removing old stairs so that trim pieces were undamaged and could be used to install the new stairs. When he discovered that the stairs I purchased were the wrong size, he outlined options for solving the problem and the cost of each choice. At my request, he went to Lowe's to exchange the stairs for the correct size. He promptly called from Lowe's when he encountered a problem with the exchange and followed my preferred course of action. The job from start to finish, including the trip to Lowe's, took about 4 hours. Everyone, from the representative who answered the phone and scheduled the appointment to the handyman who preformed the work, was professional and efficient. I am extremely satisfied with Handyman Matters and will use their service again.

Due to price being twice that of Lowes for the cost of the stairs and the installation, we did NOT use this provider.

Charles and his son did a tremendous job. Both were very professional in all aspects - a very professional finished job. The hand railing was sanded and rounded over, joints were tight, stairs were perfect, no gaps between deck boards - overall a great job. They also cleaned up both their mess and the material from the demolition to remove a small porch and stairs.

Gitterdone

Larry came in and ripped out my old stairs and cleared the dirt. He then had to dig the holes fro the post of the stairs and anchor the post in with concrete. The concrete had to sit for a day and then he came back promptly and started building the stairs. The third day was the finishing touches. Now Larry was great because he worked long hours to get it done and even weekends but still honored the bid.

M. G. Welding & Fences

Marvin was great. He was really busy at the time but he was able to fit us in. We had a fairly small job and nobody else in welding even returned my calls, but Marvin not only answered my emails and his phone when I called, he immediately said that no job was too small. That won my loyalty immediately. It can be frustrating to get a job done when people consider your job too small, but Marvin did not think my job was not worth his time. He did exactly what I asked for at a very reasonable price. The railing looked great and I was very grateful that it was secured. He even had me try to shake the railing to show me how secure he made it. He also did a little extra job without charging. I wanted the ornate scroll at the bottom of the railing removed so it would look more modernized. He said it was no big deal. Now that is good customer service. You rarely hear that anymore unless someone wants your business. I definitely recommend Marvin for small jobs, but if his quality is any indication, he would be great for big jobs, too.

Words cannot describe how happy we are with our deck, arbor and stairs. The addition to our home is truly a work of art. Bill was on top of the project from start to finish. He worked with us extensively in the design phase of the project to be certain that he understood our needs and ideas. He provided three options at three different price points from which we chose. Once the project got underway, Gary made our dream a reality. He is the most accomplished carpenter I have ever encountered. He may more aptly be described as an artist. The finished product is truly unique and utterly amazing. I would hire them again and again and recommend them to anyone who will listen.

Hernandez Iron Works
5.0
It went great- I have used Hernandez Iron Works in the past (which I submitted a report on here almost 2 years ago). Lupe is very nice and easy to work with- he'll come out and, both times I've used them, have had the job banged out in a week. They do great work and they went the extra mile with making the gate decorative. At my last house they even secured the gate on saltillo tile with no problem! Will use this company again and so should you-

River City Flooring

River City Flooring is an excellent company to work with! Their product and customer service are great. When Matt and Tyler came out to measure and show us the samples, they were so knowledgeable, as well as quick with the estimate. We absolutely love our new floors — especially the beautiful stairs. The installation crew was very talented and detail oriented...on not only the floors, but the gorgeous baseboards and caulking around them. Thank you so much, River City Flooring!!!

Recent Review: Would definitely use Steve again, was very easy to work with and very polite/punctual. Did a great job of building the TV stand to match existing entertainment center cabinets. We also absolutely love the handrail he built for our stairs. He did an excellent job of coming up with a cool design without us having to give him every single detail. Final price was also in line with (and actually under) the original estimate. Highly recommend!

Recent Review: Adrian and his partner arrived promptly to give us a quote on installing the door and window sill. I had a back door with glass all the way down the length so it had to be replaced in order to install a dog door within the door. Additionally, the dog had chewed a window sill that needed to be replaced. Adrian provided some ideas as to the type of door he could install and suggested that it would be best if I bought the dog door I wanted installed. He gave me a written estimate for the door, the installation of the dog door within the door and quoted me a $30 charge to replace the small window sill plus paint it. Once I bought the dog door, I called Adrian and he set up a time to come pick it up. He arrived during the window of time he said he would and took the dog door with him. Within a week, he had ordered the large door and then went to the millwright to install the dog door properly. Adrian and his employee arrived on time on the day the work was to be done. They did their work quickly and professionally. The back door with the dog door in it works great and he was able to reuse the hardware from my old door. He even put the old door in the garage for me where I asked him to. The window sill looks great too - as if it were always there. They also cleaned up after themselves so there was no trace of debris after they left. They charged me the total amount that was quoted and itemized the price of the door, the sill and the installation charges. They accepted a check or credit card. I paid with a credit card. I received a copy of the itemized receipt. I will definitely use them again and would be happy to act as a reference.

Recent Review: We called Hill Country Fence and Ranch at the beginning of April to ask if someone could come and give us an estimate for the work we wanted to have done. Tyler came out the very next day, a Friday, and by the beginning of the following week we had the estimate. After some thought, we decided to drop an item from the initial proposal to save a little money, got back to him, and he immediately sent a new estimate for our review. In our case, we needed to have a survey done and, once we had this taken care of, we got back in touch with Tyler to let him know we were good to go. We were then added to their schedule and were sent a link that we could use to monitor where we were in the queue. The list was continuously updated as work progressed on the many jobs ahead of us. The work on our project started on July 9 and ran for three days straight. The projected start was for a couple of weeks earlier, but that would have coincided with a trip we had out the country and we wanted to be around during the actual work in case there were any issues that arose. On Day One, a three-man crew with materials and equipment arrived punctually and got immediately to work tearing down the old split-rail and privacy fencing, loading it up for hauling off, beginning to drill the holes for the posts, and getting a start on erecting the new cedar split rail. On Day Two, the crew delivered galvanized steel posts and brackets, plus the cedar pickets for the 6' privacy fence. One crew member began work on installing the privacy fence, while the other two continued installing the split rail. All fence posts, metal and wood, were installed in concrete. On Day Three, work continued on both the privacy fence and split rail until completion. The crew worked extremely hard throughout the project in high heat and humidity and did an excellent job. Several neighbors have already commented on how beautiful the new fencing looks. We will certainly recommend Hill Country Fence and Ranch to anyone we hear of looking to have this type of work done.

Recent Review: Jack is an excellent painter who is very dependable... always showing up on time. Be sure and have him itemize the cost of each job you are wanting him to perform on the contractor's invoice, and it would be wise not to deviate from this. Make sure you're specific and that you're both on the same page from day one. Ask him upfront to tell you if he is unable to perform a task you've asked of him. Communication is key here. Just stay on top of everything and you'll be very pleased with the outcome.
