I thought I would have to wait to have this relatively small job done, but my $2500.00 job was treated as if it was a $25.000.00 job. The time from proposal to finished walkway was less than a week. The path was completed in two days and is beautifully constructed. The crew did a great job with the cleanup, too. Bob was true to his promise that I would have classy looking path.

I got this companies name from Angie's list and at the time they had a B grade. I had Architectural drawing and detailed plans from and quot;Morris Dudleyand quot; they were great plans very clear and easy to understand. I should have been alarmed that on the first day the sub contractors didn't have a copy of the plans. Mr. Northrop fail to give clear instructions to his subs. The only bright spot was the pergola they built in my back yard. To many times in the last 3 months yes a job that should have taken 2 weeks lasted 3 months way to many screw ups occurred. From plans being were lost ,yes 4 sets, plans not being followed, to few plants and over poor effort I finally fired mr. Northrop and paid him 3,00.00 jus to go away. Don't use this company they couldn't find their rear end with both hands.

Burns Landscaping was very responsive throughout the entire process. Travis and Greg examined the area to be landscaped, and gave me a quote within 24 hours. Work began within 10 days, as Rudy and his crew tore out the old grass, and replaced one patch with mulch and a beautiful river rock pattern. My other bed was expanded to the property line, using decomposed granite and metal edging. All work was done the same day. I found the staff there more than willing to listen and also to recommend changes to my plan that made sense, especially in light of the current drought.

Jim and his crew were great. I had them put in steel bed edging, create new beds, lay new sod, refresh mulch and decomposed granite and remove stones and debris. They hauled off 40,000 lb of rock from our house. The work was done exactly as promised. The crew worked hard and were courteous and neat. The price was the best we got from various landscapers. They even came back on a Sunday to fix a sprinkler leak they accidentally created. I will hire them again.

Larry was very professional and listened to what I wanted done submitting a comprehensive proposal. The crew, headed by Ms. Tonie Mari, was very ambitious and competed the project quickly and completely. Everyone was sensitive to my requests and worked hard to achieve the exact look I was striving for in the creation of the project. Tonie had a eye for detail and made sure every part of the project was to my satisfaction. In the fall I will be calling them back to complete some projects I have planned for the backyard.

Texas Allied Landscape

This is a great landscaping service that I have used in the past for other projects with excellent results and very competitive rates. This project involved removing a fairly large section of dead/dying grass next to the pool, replacing it with decomposed granite and drought-tolerant plants (Texas superstars with variety of blooming plants and vines to run along ranch style fence). We had a weed bed (not my original plan!) along the other side of the same fence that they removed and covered with large river rock. They added very large flagstones to function as a patch across our back lawn to the entrance to the pool deck (and a Y-turn to a sport court). They also mortared a flagstone path from the gate to the pool deck, perfectly matching the existing flagstone deck. The price was less than I expected for the project and it was all done exactly as drawn up. I would not hesitate to use Ray and Texas Allied Landscape again. In fact, with new construction next door, I will be calling them soon to add a berm and some tall foliage for privacy....

I was extremely impressed with Eliot's work. When he gives an estimate, he stands by it, regardless of any glitches that crop up. His landscaping is creative and attractive. The driveway he paved for us is professional, attractive, and functional, and the drains he installed are unobtrusive and work very well. In fact, I called him back out to install a second drain in the rear of the property after seeing how well the one in the front worked. While he was there, he noticed that weeds were beginning to show up in the landscaping he had installed, and took care of those, as well as replacing a plant that had died, and didn't charge anything! I have been recommending to my neighbors and friends, and want to extend that recommendation to the Spring Branch, Bulverde, and New Braunfels area at large! I was extremely pleased with his work!

Down to Earth Landscaping and Lawn Care

After reading glowing reviews on Angie's List, I added Down to Earth Landscaping and Lawn Care to the list of landscapers I contacted regarding estimates to Xeriscape my front yard. Of all the contractors I contacted, and there were several, Jim Hall of Down to Earth proved to be the most responsive and expressed the most interest in my project. Jim and I set up a time to meet at my property to discuss the job and not only was he on time, but he actually texted me about 45 minutes before the appointment to be sure we were still scheduled to meet. I explained to Jim what I had in mind for the front yard, gave him an idea of plant materials that I like, and provided him with my budget. Jim said he would contact me within 2 days with a design, price, and list of plant materials. Guess what? Jim contacted me and provided me with the information exactly when he said he would! Better still, his price came in under the maximum for my budget. We met at my property to go over the plan and to allow me to visualize it and ask questions. I made one change in the design, which was to use decomposed granite rather than mulch in some areas. To my delight, Jim seemed perfectly fine with my requested change. In fact, he even proposed that he drop off samples of different sizes and colors of decomposed granite so that I could make the choice of exactly what I wanted. I had no doubt that hiring Jim was the right move for my landscape project. When Jim and his crew arrived to do the work, they were on time, kind, courteous, and worked very hard for a very long day. In my opinion, they went above and beyond to be meticulous in their work. I think the best thing I did was to turn my yard over to Jim's creativity and not try to control anything once I made the decision to hire him. Not only did my yard go from literally being the worst one on the street, but it has become the best one on my street! All this, and no grass to mow! If you value a company who is responsive, timely, provides individual attention, and has a passion for what they do, then I most highly recommend hiring Jim Hall and Down to Earth Landscaping and Lawn Care.

We are very pleased with the work quality. Visitors to our home comment that our backyard looks like a park. It is beautiful. Workers were punctual and very hardworking. They worked long days despite poor weather conditions. We trusted Johnny and found him pleasant to work with and responsive. This project was challenging in that we were modifying our existing landscape. Johnny was careful to not damage what was already in place and to work with our multiple needs. We appreciated his flexibility and respect of the customer.

We got A LOT of quotes from 5 different companies that wanted to charge us almost $9,000 to do less work. We went with Alamo City Arbor Care because they not only gave us the best price but worked with us on how to get the most out of our budget. We had only $6,000 to spend and we couldn't budge from that number. Eric Gonzales was our point of contact. He quickly drew up a design that worked perfectly with our backyard but there was no skimping on the materials or the quality of work. This whole process was very stressful and were about to throw in the towel until they came to give us our quote. They told us they could do it for our budget so we went with them. Here is a brief summary of that was done: -Removal of all vegetation from premises -Removal of concrete slab -Removal of old flagstone -Steel edging for the whole yard -River rock for nearly entire border of yard -Decomposed granite patio in back of yard -Decomposed patio where concrete slab was with large flagstone -3 Pallets of El Toro Zoysia.

Mother Nature Lawn & Landscape

Absolutely outstanding. Tom and his crew basically made the garden anew. They worked with the existing space, cleaned out the weeds, trimmed the bushes and removed a lot of "junk". Over the years we put so in many plants they actually detracted from the garden and made maintenance more difficult. They rebuilt the path with decomposed granite and put in chopped block edging for the path. They also put in two water courses lined with river rock to take care of those rare times when we get too much water and the flow to a nearby arroyo would greatly damage the garden. They then added a Mexican Bush Sage and two Bicolor Iris, and left a small area for our granddaughters to plant their annual watermelon plants! The garden was finished with enriched mulch and landscape mix. The result was outstanding!! The garden is both simple, beautiful and the task of upkeep greatly simplified. In our front yard they put a chopped block edge around our front tree, removed some bushes that needed to go and added a Mexican Bush Sage and a Burford Holly. They put enriched mulch in the front flower bed, around the tree and landscape mix in the atrium. We are extremely pleased and definitely recommend this company!

Johnny was responsive and put up with the constant re-writing of the estimate to get it into my price range. We had to alter the project plan just a bit and Johnny provided suggestions as to how to do that. His team did good work, kept the site clean and got the work done in a timely manner. I ended up having to do the project in phases and hope to use Johnny and his team in the spring to plant the flowers, and install some lighting in the yard. I like the new yard and it will be so much easier to maintain now with no grass.

This was a great experience, and we are delighted with the outcome. Scott Lunt met with us to discuss our initial ideas, and he made good suggestions. He was easy to work with and understood our objectives (xeriscaping) right away. Within a few days he came back with an estimated cost, which was pretty close to the final charge. He scheduled his crew [John, Omar and Joel] to work for a whole week, when my husband and I could be home for most of the time for on-site consultation (which turned out to be a good idea). The crew worked carefully, safely, efficiently, and thoughtfully---and cleaned up the site at the end of every day [great!]. I had done a scale drawing of the site plans that noted where rock, mulch, etc. were to be placed and that was a good "reminder" for all who worked on it. John assisted me in selecting plants from The Garden Center nursery, and helped with the placement; I wished there had been larger plants available, but the variety of plants from which to choose was good. The plants are guaranteed for a year, with appropriate care for them. This was not an inexpensive project, but the quality of the materials and service was worth it.

Recent Review: My tiny back yard is too shady for grass. Sean built a small, free-standing, cedar deck, and it's gorgeous. The work took about a week in July. Sturdy foundation, and all the wood rests on blocks, not on dirt. I love it, and it makes my back yard livable. Sean has done landscaping for me every year for at least five years, and I recommend him highly. He's coming back next week to give the plants a trim and a tune-up. Recent Review: Mr. Steinbrunner was prompt and complete in his estimate and answered all questions clearly during the bidding process. He followed our landscape plan, but offered suggestions and alternatives when he saw minor changes that would result in a better outcome. I am particularly appreciative of his natural, common-sense approach to plantings, given our South Texas weather challenges. His crew was courteous and highly skilled, as evidenced by beautiful stacked stone retaining walls built to match existing masonry. Although the project encircled our home, the work areas were kept tidy with minimal inconvenience for the duration of the project. Mr. Steinbrunner frequently checked in during the project and kept me informed of progress. Mr. Steinbrunner more than fulfilled his contractual obligation. When we had a problem with the irrigation system, he was diligent in uncovering the problem and brought in experts to help without additional charge. He even had his crew come out for a "spruce up" just before my husband returned from deployment for a special unveiling! We look forward to maintaining our relationship with Steinbrunner Landscaping and recommend them highly.

Recent Review: The landscaping turned out very nice but they substituted some of my items with leftovers from other jobs and left the job partially unfinished though they did take some fees off my bill because of it. My main complaint is that when I tried to call later to ask some questions about my plants and to recommend that they contact a neighbor for some additional work, they refuse to return my calls. I gave up after leaving 5 messages. I paid my bill in full and was under the impression that the job went well. I cannot recommend them if they are this unreliable.

Recent Review: The planter project went perfectly, but I can’t say enough about all the projects that Larry has done for me. He is the best landscaper I’ve found. When first working with him a few years ago, I got other estimates on projects. His was always the best price. I had already seen that he does quality work when he put grass in for our neighbors. We’re on a corner. He created a beautiful desert area on the corner of the lot. That area is separated from adjacent mulched xeric gardens (that he created) by natural brown stone edging and is covered with commercial weed cloth and decomposed granite. The plants he brought were large and looked wonderful right away. He also placed 5 reddish brown boulders there and they match the color of the granite. When a car took out our whole side fence two years ago and destroyed the 9’ wide garden behind it, Larry took away the debris of stone blocks and twisted trellises. The garden sloped quite a bit, so he suggested that we level it to make it easier for me to work it because I lose my balance easily. He used two stacked rows of heavy, wide commercial plastic edging, which I could afford much easier than concrete block, and attached them to the new fence. He brought in soil and made the new garden into a beautifully smooth and level area. He planted some plants and I gradually planted others. He brought boulders to place along the outside of the fence to stop cars from coming in again, since this was the 2nd car in our yard. He removed an 18’ x 18’ area of backyard grass that I didn’t want to water and replaced it with com weed cloth and mulch. It looks nice because there are bushes all along the fence to add greenery. Adjacent to the desert garden, he removed a 6’ wide border of grass around the front and side yards and planted and mulched xeric bushes. Before that, the irrigation water was running down the slopes and into the street. He also removed grass on one shady and treed side of the house and replaced it with mulch and a border of liriope. He built a 2nd stone block planter in the backyard to hold an avocado tree. He replaced unattractive foundation bushes with giant liriope, which don’t need much water and look great. He brings mulch to replenish the gardens’ old mulch about once a year. He picks up every bit of trash from each job and takes it away, so the yard is totally clean when he is finished. He advises me on plants and grass. He’s polite, respectful, and goes along with me when I change my mind on things. He does flagstone work, so I might get him to redo our path stones. I have to pace projects. He is my go-to person for anything I want done in the yard, and I highly recommend him to anyone who has plans for a big or small landscaping job. People have stopped in their cars to tell me that the gardens are beautiful, or that we are a lovely gateway into the neighborhood because we're the first house that you see, or that we have the prettiest yard on the block. One who saw the backyard said it is an oasis. Two have stopped to ask who did my landscaping and others have stopped just to look. Needless to say, I am happy to have a good landscaper!
