Reviews in Richmond for Service Water Treatment

Certified Water Treatment

We would recommend them. We had a hurricane and earthquake and the water vein shifted. The company kept coming out for a couple of months and didn't charge us anything until they got it perfect. They kept working with us. They would come the same day that we called. They got whatever we needed to purify the water and they didn't charge us until they got it right. Their prices were very reasonable. Another company was quoting prices that were double in price and they were not willing to work with us. We don't have a standard purification system; it is massive. They now come out about every 6 months to service the equipment.

They gave a detailed estimate, arrived at scheduled time for installation, recharged the old water pressure tank at no charge and were very helpful in explaining how the system operates.

Very well. These people are courteous and very nice. The work was done well and quickly. We had a water treatment system installed by them last year to keep bacteria etc. out of our water. It works very well and is economical and very low maintenance.

We contacted them first to service our old system (which gave us an extra 1 1/2 years use) and then to replace it. The cost for the new system was detailed, tailored to our specific needs and well below another estimate we had. They were on schedule and thorough in their work. Also, right after they left, we had serious water pressure problems. They turned around and came back the same afternoon to correct the problem. I don't know exactly what they did, but we now have BETTER water pressure than we have ever had before.

ROYALL PUMP & WELL CO INC

Consumer beware. Royall came out to service my water filtration system as well as flush out a pipe under our home due to iron build up. After explaining in detail what we needed done, we were quoted $450-$500 for the service call, parts and labor. Now, we can understand a slight variance in price quote vs. final billing amounts, but a mere 2 days after the work was completed I get a phone call from Royall informing me of the total amount due. Imagine our shock to learn it’s DOUBLE the amount originally quoted!!! And furthermore, they want to run my credit card right then and there, 2 days after the service call, we haven’t even seen an invoice, they haven’t even mailed it yet! What? Who does that? Who runs a business in this manner? When you take your car in to be serviced, the service techs call you for approval when they see that there is more parts/labor than originally quoted, they don’t just do the work and when you go to pick up your car you’re hit with a bill you weren’t prepared for. No, that’s not how it works. Zero communication from service staff regarding additional work/cost. When they are out on a service call, their manager should have made them fully aware of the work requested and the quote for said work. When the techs see that they are going to have to perform more work, longer service call, additional parts, then they should inform the customer PRIOR to doing anything further. We are extremely disappointed, we enjoy using local, independent businesses but we won’t be using Royall EVER again. My husband spoke with a gentleman at Royall today, before giving them the go ahead to charge our credit card. He voiced his concerns, asked questions, explained why we are so upset with Royall’s flawed business and billing practices and this employee was SILENT. All they wanted was their money, they didn’t care how we felt, they didn’t care that we felt we were taken advantage of and they didn’t care to try to correct their mistakes. This isn’t the first time we’ve used Royall, but after today, it is the LAST time we use them. Never again Royall, never again.

I called at 8:40 am to set up an appointment to get a quote for a filtering system to eliminate the sulfur smell in our well water. I got no answer even though office hours start at 8:30 am. I called back after 9:00 am and talked with Tracy. She scheduled Brian to come to our house the next day between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. When Brian hadn't showed by the appointed time, I called and again talked with Tracy. She tracked Brian down, and he called me a few minutes later. He said he was on a maintenance call that ran longer than expected and that he could be at my place around 6:00 pm. I said that would be okay. Brian arrived and immediately began testing the water for various contaminants and conditions. Except for the SRB bacteria causing the sulfur smell, he said we had excellent water. That was a good sign of his honesty. Unless you are a chemist, how do you really know someone is giving you the straight story when holding up test tubes of varying colors? I already knew from previous testing that we had good water. He could have claimed we had other issues in addition to the SRB, but he didn't, and he didn't try to sell us unnecessary filtering solutions. He then explained in great detail how and why his filtering system worked. Brian came the following Friday and installed the system, taking just over an hour to do so. He said the smell would be eliminated in 30 seconds. That's a bit of hyperbole since the real timeframe is the time it takes to purge the system of the old unfiltered water. I ran water through all the taps that same day and then cleaned out all the aerator screens in the faucets. I repeated that process three days later. The sulfur smell was eliminated everywhere except the refrigerator. The ice maker was clear after several cycles of ice making, but the cold water dispenser still wasn't right. I ran gallon after gallon of water through the dispenser every day for almost three weeks before the smell was eliminated. I'm happy to report that we seem to be sulfur-free as of today. It's obvious that Brian loves what he's doing and that he knows his stuff when it comes to water and water treatment. That combined with his honesty make a winning combination.

The system manual says that it will not work with our flow rate but the company refuses to take it out or refund our money. We have had to hire an attorney but the company still refuses and we will have to go to court in order to recoup any funds. I would not want this to happen to anyone else so please don't work with this company. We now have to hire another company to take out this one and throw it away ($7,000 worth!) and reinstall one that will work with our well. Had they talked to us about the system, discussed our flow rate, we could have purchased an appropriate system. The owner has said that the salesperson discussed all of this with us and we choose this one anyway. We never saw or spoke to a 'salesperson' only a service man.

Natural H2o

Dealing with this company is one of the worst experiences of my life. What we experienced was unprofessional business owners who do not take responsibility for their failures to their clients. Our entire reason for seeking out a water filtration company is that we received a notice from the county after having our water tested, that we had high levels of radon in our well water. Radon itself is not dangerous to drink but can cause lung cancer if you are inhaling it while showering or being near the steam of the hot water. Since we had already lived in the house for 10 years we were very concerned about the consequences of continuing to breathe the radon. We were going to go with a more reputable and experienced company, but a relative said that her friends husband was in the business and recommended we try them. At the time, Chris was the business owner. We met with him explaining our concerns and he promised up and down that he would be able to take care of it with a system that he installed. We paid the over $1,500 up front which I will never do again. It took over a month for him to install the system because of various excuses that he gave us. Some of which included him being late, the February temperature being too cold, his children having the flu, him breaking his clavicle, and the numerous times that he had to go out to his horse farm for one issue or another. We tried to be understanding but after a month I was at the end of my rope. We finally got the system up and going and the reverse osmosis faucet installed in the house. We were promised this would take care of the pH, the high mineral content, as well as the radon. I contacted him again numerous times telling him we were having green and blue staining in the tub and sending pictures, as well as orange and brown slimy residue in the toilets and the dog water bowl. Eventually he told me he was no longer the owner and had sold the business to Clyde. I have never been able to speak to Clyde and Chris communicated with us only via text. The last text I received was prior to Thanksgiving saying that he thought that he had an idea to fix our problem. This was 10 months into our contract and our problem was still not fixed. I did not reply to him as we had a family member in the hospital and we're about to travel for Thanksgiving. Also, I was tired of getting the runaround whenever we tried to schedule for him to come out. This past February (a year later) I decided to have the water retested as I was concerned we were not getting the treatment we were supposed to be getting. The company was very reputable and I made it clear that our only purpose was testing. They tested raw water samples from the toilet as well as water from the filtered faucet and water from the well. The results were that we still had excessively high radon, as well as other high levels of minerals and our pH was off. When I confronted Chris and Clyde about this I was told that they had tried to contact me in November and I never replied to the text so.it was my fault it was not taken care of. I told them our entire purpose for getting a system was to remove the high levels of radon which we told him in our first meeting and which he promised he could do. I asked for my money back and the equipment removed as the system did nothing to help us and in fact some of the levels of minerals were higher in the treated water versus the raw water! We ended up having to have a vapor trap installed specifically to remove the radon which cost us another $1,500 but this was from a very reputable company who treated us with professionalism. Natural H2O have refused to refund any money despite the system being worthless for us. I was treated rudely, our time was not valued at all, and we ended up wasting a large sum of money while our health was still in jeopardy. I am sure they will reply to this review with a million excuses and trying to blame us. Which of course a professional business owner would not do, but you are not dealing with professional business owners. They are not accredited by the BBB. If you still go with them despite reading my review you have no one to blame but yourself.

Business Description: Matthews Well & Pump was founded in 1960 by the late Jack Matthews and purchased by Todd and Jill Vander Pol in 1989. Since then the Vander Pols have sought to put their Dutch business heritage to good use. Our business model has been to use the best and most-innovative equipment available and then, through a strenuous hiring and training process, bring on board technicians and office staff who share our view that the business exists to meet the needs of our customers. Mr. Vander Pol encourages everyone to “do what you do and do it well!”. Since your well is unique from your neighbor’s well- based on the original construction, materials used and the strata the well is constructed through- we work with you as our customer to get an understanding of your past experience with your well’s “normal performance” and the concern we now want to address. Then through a data-gathering process developed over the last 30 years our technicians can normally identify one or more options to correct or improve your concern. In many instances we can then give you an on site estimate of the cost to perform the work. In some situations we will not have all the data required to provide a firm estimate, in which case we would work on a time and material basis with your approval. We stock nine different well pumps on our service trucks along with pipe, wire, pressure tanks, switches etc. Ninety percent of the time we can correct a well pump problem with one service call! We look forward to working with you and continuing to serve our community for years to come! We service the metro-Richmond area and surrounding counties.

Recent Review: For the past three years, it's gone very well. Only regret is not finding Life Time sooner. I had not gotten treatment sooner because of quotes for $2000 plus and the water quality/grains were ok. We only needed to treat acid, and other companies wouldn't work with that.
