Classic Construction Exteriors
5.0
They were fast and professional and as I write this in 2012 (6 years later) our house still looks wonderful. I was especially happy with how Mr. Jordan's team was able to preserve the details of the house that give our otherwise average home a little more character - they cut metal pieces to replicate the "gingerbread" around the eaves. I would invite anyone to come by my house and see their craftmanship - especially since it has stood up to 2 hurricanes, several nasty storms, and some blisteringly hot summers - every inch looks as good as the day they completed the work

Simpson'S Home Improvements
5.0
John Simpson arrived to review all the work I needed done. On the exterior there were several pieces of siding that had to be replaced, windowsills that had rotted and wood trim that rotted, interior trim that had to be replaced and a ceiling that had to be repaired after a heat pump leak. John provided a written estimate after our review and the estimate was extremely reasonable. We scheduled the work and he arrived on the date and time he promised. He and his team got right to work and all were extremely personable yet very professional. I couldn't be happier with the work that he did. You can't see any difference in the replaced siding and he matched all the paint perfectly. The interior work was absolutely flawless. I am preparing to sell my house and once I'm in my new place I intend to have him do the work I'll need there too. He delivered everything he promised

The Carpentry & Painting Experts LLC
5.0
I am an interior designer that often needs and uses carpentry and painting services (for myself and my clients). I have had some really bad experiences over the years, but I have to say I have FINALLY found someone I can call for just about anything. I have used The Carpentry and Painting Experts about 8 times in the past year or so, and I can tell you that they are awesome! Martin is a pleasure to deal with, and all of the workers are trustworthy and professional. I feel I can leave my house when they are there. Michael does a great job as the supervisor to see that all of the work is done right and to my specifications. They arrive on time, and if they are running a few minutes behind you get a courtesy phone call. Their attention to detail is amazing, and the project is always completed on time and on budget

The windows and door are beautiful and the men did a great job of installing them. They also did a very good job of cleaning up and Mike gave me all of the paperwork I need to apply for my energy star rebate. I plan to use Mike again this fall to replace some additional windows.

Jacob's Ladder Siding Roofing Windows Painting
5.0
We have used this contractor several times in the past and went to them again because of past experience. All it took was a quick e-mail to Seth Dorotich to arrange a meeting to discuss the job and get rough measurements. Seth then set up a second meeting so the Vinyl-Kraft sales representative could make precise measurements for manufacture of the units. As soon as the new units had arrived, Seth contacted me to set up an installation date. On that morning, the crew arrived right on time, along with Seth who introduced me to the crew. Seth returned later to oversee the completion of the work. Of particular note was the fact that after making all the necessary open/close/lock adjustments, the installers had me go through the processes to ensure that I was fully satisfied with the workings. After all was done, Seth Dorotich did a walk-through with me to ensure that I was satisfied with everything. Jacob's Ladder is a highly professional operation

WE Bowman Construction Inc
5.0
This project was a huge undertaking, the home is 107 years old. After weeks of frustrating meetings with OTHER contractors, it was refreshing and reassuring to finally have a company and its representative treat me with respect and have patience to answer all my questions. The contact person for this division was Joe S. and he was very knowledgeable and helpful to me every step of the way. The workmen were timely and professional, cleaned up the area very well, and did an excellent job fixing the myriad of issues that we had. The rotted wood and leaky roof were expertly removed and replaced with material that is guaranteed to stop our problem with interior water damage. The replacement woodwork looks better then new, and attention to detail to keep the original historic look of the home was excellent. The pricing was reasonable and fair, I had gotten many estimates and they ran the gamut from less to way more. We don't settle on a contractor by price alone, there are many facets to choosing the right person for the job. W. E. Bowman fit the bill on all levels, good communication, timeliness in response and job completion, good reputation, knowledge of materials being used, etc. We look forward to working with W.E. Bowman in the future and have no reservation or hesitations about using them for all our remodeling and repair projects

Mason is a pleasure to work with. He's prompt, professional and friendly. He listened to my requests respectfully, offered suggestions and input as far as practicality, pricing and overall results. He is skilled, resourceful and efficient and gives meticulous attention to detail. When he's finished a job, the space is cleaner than when he arrived! We were extremely satisfied with all the work he has done for us and would highly recommend him! We can't say enough about how pleased we were with the jobs he's done from beginning to end. We will continue to use him for the remaining work we will be doing on our property

Hetrick Painting Inc

The Contractor has a very capable crew handling his work. The carpenters had to deal with several difficult issues and a lot of siding replacement. Throughout the process they were careful of the property, neat, responsive to numerous questions and very skilled in their work. After the carpenters had finished their work, the painters arrived and quickly applied the paint choices to all the applicable surfaces. These gentlemen were also extremely neat and did everything we could have expected. Overall a first rate job

Larry Burton and his team of professional painters arrived on time each day and responded to every request I made to accomplish the job. I found their work to be first class and of very high quality. I'm pleased with the finished product and I will definitely call Larry again when I have other home-related needs. I recommend you consider hiring Larry Burton the next time you need a contractor to paint your home or resurface the deck of your home in the Richmond, Virginia area

The owner (Bill) was very responsive to all e-mails I sent him and quick to provide quotes as requested. Even during the end of the year holiday season, he was able to schedule and complete several projects on time to satisfy our buyer and the relocation company we were working with. Some of the items I needed to repair/replace (plumbing/electrical/etc) were quoted a little higher than going to an individual plumber/electrician, so I went with the plumber/electrician on those items, but most everything else quoted was the lowest I was quoted by 4-5 contractors. I cannot recommend them enough! They were fabulous to work with from start to finish. Thank-you

We could not have been happier with the quality of the work; the timeliness of the job; and general communication. During the course of the job, we dealt with several family members/friends/employees of Zero Punch List and every one of them were friendly and professional. Zero Punch List will be our go-to company whenever we need any job done around the house

Virginia Cabinetry, LLC
5.0
Our project with Virginia Cabinetry went very smoothly from start to finish. For our initial visit and estimate, we spent alot of time going over MDF versus wood, what kind of wood, whether glass shelves would be included, the detailing on the cabinets, and how to make the detailing and overall look similar to that of our adjacent dressing room. We also needed to insert a radiator cover in the middle, and wanted it to be strong enough to sit on, just in case. The installation area was below two windows, and our 1920s home has alot of asymmetries and quirks, so they measured multiple times, without prompting, because the layout of the space made it obvious that slightly off measurements would need to be considered throughout. We also wanted to be sure that the radiator cover gave sufficient access for servicing, and so we discussed several options for creating a removable hinge so that the cover could be removed. We discussed the proportions of the unit overall in that we wanted the unit to add distinction and detail to the room, but not overwhelm it. We also have delicate items from travels abroad that we wanted to display, and discussed whether overhead lighting was feasible, though we opted to go without it, at least for now. The drawers below needed to be of sufficient depth to store linens, blankets, or other somewhat bulkier items that our dressing room cabinets could not hold, so we talked alot about how to negotiate this given the width of the radiator and the size of the shelving atop the drawers. We also gave him a piece of old trim work from a prior project so that he could match the color. We discussed an approximate estimate beforehand, and the formal estimate sent later held no surprises. They were very accomodating about the fact that I later decided that, given our original windows in the home, I requested restoration-grade glass in the cabinet doorfronts. We discussed where he could get this, and he let me know what it would cost once he looked into it. I explained that I would be fine with him adding this to our bill, because for me, this was an important detail for the overall theme of the house. I would be looking at this unit every day, so I wanted no regrets. When we returned from vacation, the cabinets were ready. I can't remember exactly how long it took to make the unit; I am guessing maybe 3-4 weeks (we were only gone for about a week and a half). We had to put off installation for a couple of weeks, and they were fine with that. The day of installation of course very exciting. I was off that day so that I could assist with any questions or concerns. It took them most of the day, which was fine by me. I wanted them to take their time and do the job right. They were savvy about being able to place extra pieces in certain places to help transition difficult corners, which was a lingering concern in the back of my mind, given the oddity of the measurements in the space they had install the unit. We have 6-8 inches of trim molding along the floors, with shoe molding, and picture rail about an inch from the ceiling, throughout the 1st and 2nd floors of the house, and they navigated this very nicely as well, and matched the trim color well. They left very little debris behind--some sawdust on the front walk--which was easily remedied. My husband and I are very pleased with the unit itself, its design, its installation, the value it adds to our home, and the guys that did the work. Of course, I took my own chances with whether the restoration-grade glass would be worth it on the cabinet fronts, and it definitely was. I would anticipate that some potential clients would be concerned about language barrier issues. Some of his crew are from other countries, so he helps them settle here and find work. The owner was so conscientious about discussing every detail of the project at the beginning, and speaks fluent and seasoned english anyway, such that he seems to have been in the states for quite some time (don't let his accent fool you!). Plus, his installers were excellent. So we never really had reason to anticipate any problems with that, and it never became an issue. He and his crew were also just very pleasant people, easy to work with. I am not sure if Angie's List allows reviewers to submit images of services rendered, but if you would like to see the work that they did for us, they did take pictures, and we could certainly take some as well and send them to him to post
He's very responsable and good at his job. He's very dependable and and reliable and I was comfortable leaving him in my home because I knew he would do a good job.
Joseph, the owner of the company who had done some interior work for us, did a detailed design and drawing along with a reasonable estimate. After comparing his design and estimate with three other companies, we went with him. He did a great job! He exceeded all building codes (and Spotsylvania County is pretty exacting) and over-built the entire deck. He installed oversize foundational deck posts and dug larger than required post holes and filled them with more than required concrete. The deck was a tri-color TREX deck that has a 16 X 16 octagon-shaped deck connected to a 16 X 16 square deck with a wide step up. He installed multiple (more than necessary) railing posts with solar caps and built landing with two sets of stairs along with a single set of stairs on the opposite side of the deck. Additionally, he installed lattice that was color matched to the deck flooring and constructed a framed access door to easily access the storage area underneath the deck. Several people have looked at it, including carpenters, and all have commented on the quality of the build. I've compared it with several decks and it far exceeds any of them. Joseph's attention to detail and dedication to perfection are second to none, and he does absolutely outstanding work. I couldn't have asked for more. If you need a deck or anything else built, he's the guy to call
We feel fortunate to have found such a company to do work in our home. JP&J is truly an exceptional find. Joe is personable, trustworthy and very conscientious. We have no reservations about referring anyone to this company.
I was referred to Peter Kane of Kane Construction through a friend who had also used his services for a recent bathroom renovation. I found him to be prompt, professional and courteous. His estimate was accurate and lower than other estimates I received. I was a bit concerned that there would be damage to the walls and floor in my bathroom due to the difficulty of removing and replacing our shower unit, but Peter came in and completely protected the bathroom. The job was completed in 2 days, with very little inconvenience to me or my family. He kept the job clean. His craftsmanship was excellent. He I would highly recommend Kane Construction
Daryll knows what he's doing. With a lifetime of experience in general construction, he has many skills but is an excellent carpenter. From making custom cabinets to putting up crown molding, he can do it all. Great personality, honest, fair and is there when he says he will be. Will be using again to help hang sliding doors in my reno project
