The overall job was superior. It turned out better than I was hoping for. Brian is a talented finish carpenter and has a designer's eye. He was professional, friendly, and very knowledgable. He cleaned up daily after working and left the garage cleaner when he left than before he started the work! I would recommend him to anyone. He made some suggestions that really made the look of the finished product special! I can't say enough good things about his work! At the initial meeting for the estimate, he gave me a couple of catalogs to peruse for the balusters, and directed me to a website where I could "plug in" the posts and balusters that I picked out to see how it would look. He was working during the time around Thanksgiving, and was punctual and worked consistently until the job was done. It took a little longer than he projected, but that couldn't be helped--the newel posts that I picked took a little longer to ship than usual. He worked around my schedule and was very accommodating when I made a couple of last minute changes. I love my new staircase, and it improves the look of my home's interior tremendously!

My experience started out very well...we had just moved here and decided to have a few rooms painted, instead of doing it ourselves. It was a last minute decision, and we were hoping to have the painting done before the movers arrived from Texas with our furniture. I responded to an AngiesList Deal and Rob called me immediately even though it was on a saturday...he was very attentive and thorough and was able to schedule us right away. The deal was for 2 painters, 8 hours each, $600. Going off of a previous experience with an AngiesList provider in TX, where we had an entire house (of comparable size) of trim, doors, master bath walls primed and painted, and large kitchen/living room ceiling all done by 4 painters in 8 hours....we were hoping to get trim and walls completed in 3 rooms, maybe some more of the trim in the rest of the house time permitting. Rob let us know this was a bit aggressive, but they would do their best. Our experience with the painters was not as positive. The quality of their work was very good, but this is where I learned to NEVER purchase labor by the hour. The painters really seemed to drag out the time...one stood around for part of the job to dry when there were other areas that still needed work, and he stopped immediately when exactly 8 hours was up, leaving part of a baseboard and half a door painted. The owner's daughter followed up the next day to see how satisfied we were. We explained our issues and she was very apologetic and did arrange to have one of the painters come back to at least finish the partial trim job in the kitchen. The owner also made great efforts to make sure that we were satisfied. Overall, we liked the owner and his daughter, and appreciate the effort they took to 'make it right' after the fact. The professionalism of the painters was disappointing, which is the only reason for the lower score. I wouldn't say to not use this provider, but I would advise to purchase by the room or by the job...and not by the hour, as it is very difficult to really know what will be completed in the allotted time

I purchased a new slide in oven from Sears that was replacing a drop in. This required some modification/cutting of the counter top and baseboard. When Sears came to install the oven they wanted to charge $360 and said there was no way to install it without damaging the Formica counter top. I was not at all comfortable having them do the work and told them to just deliver it and I would have someone else do the installation. I called Kitchen Doctors and left a message detailing what I needed done. I received a call back very quickly and was told that they may have a reschedule for tomorrow, and if so could come out and complete the work that day. About two hours later they contacted me and said they did have a reschedule and could do my job tomorrow in the afternoon. They came out and did a fantastic job installing the oven and charged me only $150.00 for the entire job. The quality of the work is first rate and they were quick and very personable in their interactions with me. I would recommend them to anyone and will use them again for any kind of cabinet and counter repair, or kitchen remodeling

I purchased the "big deal" coupon late one evening and Wayne Lantz called me first thing the next morning to discuss my needs and schedule time to come review what I wanted done. Communication was great as we worked out times and settled on a day for the work to begin. Carpenters showed up on time on the scheduled date and were very competent and professional. (The deal was for 40 hrs of work. The two carpenters were on the job for 20 hrs, or 2 1/2 days.) Extremely pleased with the work. All rotten wood was carefully removed without damaging surrounding areas and replaced with new trim. Looks good as new. Difficult to tell any repair work was done. The large 16-light bay window is original to the home (1956) and much of the exterior trim on the mullions separating the glass panes had rotted. (Glass panes were held in place with small pieces of trim instead of window glazing.) All rotten or missing trim was replaced with window glazing. All trim joints were well caulked and painting was skillfully done with primer and finish coats. Again, very pleased with their work and will hire them again

Great! Mike was very up front on the job needs and possible surprises. His crew worked around our schedule and took the time to make it right. It turned out better than expected and my tenant was very pleased with the outcome. It started as a septic overflow in a small bathroom. The waste went under the sink, into the floor, on the baseboards, and pooled into the crawlspace. Mike responded to our request and came over when he said he would. He fit us into his schedule and got to work right away. His employee, Todd, did a really nice job in finishing the floor so that the bathroom could be used as soon as possible. The job came out great

The day of the project, it was raining and Mr. Torres arrived 10mins before are set appt. time! ( Wow!) When he arrived he showed me all the materials and explained again what he would be doing. After he completed the job, he had me look over everything .... I'm so glad I decided to chose Mr.Torres, his number is a "Must KEEP" for future projects

Jacob's Ladder Siding Roofing Windows Painting
Jacob's Ladder replaced all the siding and trim on our home with Hardi Plank siding and trim. They also painted the house two coats. The crew was very punctual, hard working and did a good job with keeping the yard cleaned up. They were very good at handling unforeseen problems with the job such as my house having no sheathing on it when the siding was removed, so they installed OSB sheathing around the entire house then wrapped it with tyvek prior to the installation of trim and siding. Reagan was our project manager and did a great job with keeping the job on schedule and coordinating all the guys. I would highly recommend Jacob's Ladder and plan on using them again in the future. In fact after I had them reside my home I had them come back and do some interior painting for me

I made an appointment with Jay Trogdon of Trogdon Enterprises to install a new front door on my house I recently purchased. He scheduled me about two weeks from my call. At first I thought I would be able to have someone at home to help him, but had to call him back because those plans changed. I told him that I would not be able to physically help him with the job of holding the door (as it is a two person job at some points), and he said that he had someone he could bring, no problem. They came on time and were very friendly, introduced themselves and listened to what I wanted done, and then they started the work right away after I showed them everything. I also asked if they had time I wanted them to install a light in my dining room. Mr. Trogdon said that should be fine. The door installation went smoothly. I had anticipated it might take several hours. Mr. Trogdon's employee (I'm bad with names and can't recall it!) helped with the installation and the timeliness of the endeavor. They were able to remove all of the siding and moulding around the door, the old storm door, and the old wooden (cracked) door, and put in the new one that I had ready. It looks good and is functioning as it should, and he was able to refit the moulding around the new door frame although it was a different size then the taller old frame. Mr. Trogdon communicated with me throughout and asked me if the altered moulding would be okay. He had all of the tools he needed for the project and seemed very prepared. They were both also friendly to my dogs, which is an added bonus. Jay installed my dining room ceiling light perfectly, and very quickly. While he did that, his associate moved the old doors to my shed upon my request. The door and the light were done in just two hours, and I feel he gave me a great deal on the pricing with the added labor that was needed by bringing his buddy. I found them very friendly and likable and will definitely hire them again if I need some handyman help

This is a good company to work with. Mike, the estimator, was punctual and thorough. He was quick and responsive with questions and clarifications. His estimate was close to, but less than, the others I had received. Scheduling was easy, they were ready to start nearly immediately, and once working, the whole job took less than a week. Tim, the project manager, was on site every day, and seems to run a tight ship. Bottom line, the house looks great, it was priced fairly, and I'm very happy with their work

We were so very impressed with the work Allen and his brothers performed for us and they are a great bunch of guys to work with. We felt very comfortable with the guys here and they arrived between 7:45-8:00 and stayed till 4:00-4:30 each day. They are like Mike Holmes on HGTV. If you want it done right hire Allen and his brothers. In fact we told the window people don't hide anything because our painters will find it. Sure enough we had to have the window people back out because they hid part of the damaged window sill and Allan and his brothers found it. Allen brought paint samples to our house which we really liked and he even suggested painting the ceiling of the porch a darker color so with the trim it wouldn't be so much white. It was a fantastic suggestion and looks great. The guys removed the gutters to paint underneath and then replaced them, pitched the roof on the pergolas so it will drain properly, replaced the trim around the garage doors and other trim on the house with PVC to prevent further rotting, re-screened the porch, stained the house and shed and painted all the trim, pained the front door to match the shutters and put the shutters back on the house. They also cleaned up their mess each day. Great job, great guys. It was so hot while the guys were here working we provided bottled water daily and watermelon a couple of days. One day we even cooked lunch on the grill and had hamburgers and hot dogs

The first thing I did was to write a Statement of Work. I wrote exactly what work I wanted done. I measured and gave the approximate square footage for each area. I checked Angie's list and found Huff Construction. I called and left a message. David Huff called back right away and we made an appointment for him to come out and look at the work I wanted done. David Huff showed up at the time agreed to and read over my Statement of Work. We then looked at the basement and Mr. Huff measured and wrote things down. We went over the job in detail and shared ideas on what I wanted done and what he could do. I told him it was important to not penetrate our existing B-dry waterproofing system he said no problem and showed me how he would frame the walls. He was genuinely interested in the project. I called 2 other contractors; one gave a quote of $30K and another wanted $125 just to look at the job and provide an estimate (I said no thanks! to both contractors). Huff construction?s estimate was within the estimate I developed. I contacted Huff construction and said I wanted to move forward with the job. Huff e-mailed a formal estimate with all the work written down and the payment terms. I had special financing from my bank, Huff worked with me on the financing terms. Before the work was started, the contractor installed a plastic sheeting barricade to prevent dust from coming upstairs. The contractor put plastic sheeting over my property in the basement to protect from dust. One the first day, he came out with his full crew and they framed up all the walls and did what he said he was going to do. All the walls were framed up without a single nail penetrating the b-dry waterproofing system. The contractor received all the necessary permits from the county and the work was inspected by a county inspector at different points through-out the job. The work proceeded at a steady pace in the next coming weeks. The contractor clean-up the jobsite after each day. David Huff is a good communicator and responded to my phone calls and e-mails in the same day or the very next morning. Very timely responses. David Huff was onsite most of the time where I could just go and talk to him. He asked if the work looked good and if there was anything I didn?t like to please tell him. He explained what they were doing and gave updates on the schedule and what work was next. Once all the walls were finished, David Huff gave us an opportunity to paint the walls before the drop ceiling was installed which was a big help. We took advantage of that and painted all the walls. We had some small changes we wanted done and wanted to add some things. David Huff was very accommodating to changes. Some changes added more cost but the additional amount was reasonably priced. The contractor did some extras that we did not ask for and he didn?t charge for it. Some of these extras were installing a hard wired smoke detector, placement of additional trim between existing drywall and fireplace, and he installed some additional drywall behind bathroom wall. At the end of the job, I had a small punch list of things to correct and David Huff made the corrections. The job was completed a little after the timeframe he told me but it was because of coordination issues with the county to get the work inspected. Overall it wasn?t that much of a delay. My family is very pleased with having a new family rec room and bathroom in the basement. The work was high quality and done in a professional manner. I am glad I went with Huff Construction for this job. I will definitely do business again with Huff Construction

Simply terrific hardworking crew. They started at 9am as promised and finished at 3pm. Amazing! The 5 man crew never stopped working. The foreman spoke English very well and was extremely polite. I was so impressed with their work ethic! The scheduler was very accommodating. I had to wait a little longer to get the work done on a Saturday, as I wished, but it was well worth the wait. Their pricing was competitive, and in fact, they included some upgrades that another contractor I got a bid from wanted extra money for. My neighbors used Home Fix first and they were so pleased with them, as am I. I certainly would recommend them highly and am, in fact, going to use them again, to install a new kitchen sliding door and screen. They have earned my trust with the quality of the work, the quality of the materials used, and their responsiveness to my scheduling needs. Everything looks great! They caulked and prepared all of it since we were having the entire home painted after they finished. It looks fantastic after the painting and we are very pleased with the result of Brian's work. I hope to have him back at a future date to create a fireplace mantel, once we renovate the fireplace. Very professional, clean, communicative and finished in one day
