Richmond Hardwood Floor Refinishing

We could not be happier with the work by Howdyshell Flooring! They have refinished floors in two of our homes from dark walnut to beautiful natural finish. They were able to match 40 year old white oak hardwood to new wood and the finish is flawless - you can't tell a difference between the old and new! Everything was smooth, on time and reasonably priced. The finished floors were absolutely jaw dropping. Even though the floors in the living room had been covered for 12 years and already looked good after carpet removal, the refinishing of the entire first floor encompassed sanding and refinishing everything to match. It looked even BETTER than it did after we removed the carpets.

Everything from start to finish went fantastic. Mark came out and measured the area we wanted refinished. He was up-front and transparent on the costs and options and worked with us to schedule his crew to do their work while we were out of town. His crew came in the days before we left to sand the area and put down stain color samples on the floor. They were very meticulous and careful. They cleaned up after themselves and left very little dust. We selected our stain color and when we returned all the floors looked fantastic! He has an experienced crew that knows exactly what they are doing. The pictures attached here shows the result before they came back to put quarter rounds back on and paint the floor boards, but shows the finished floor. The whole family is extremely happy with the results!

I understand many people have been happy with Franks Flooring Service. I know they can do a good job; he has many reviews stating so and the final product in my house is very nice as well. We did have a few hiccups along the way. I had removed a wall and needed new flooring installed where the wall was and decided to refinish all the floors. Frank assured me he could match the new flooring with the old flooring and that a screening was all that was needed vs full stripping and would save money. Screening is removing the top layer of existing poly in preparation for a fresh poly coating. Screening was also recommended by 2 other contractors so I decided to go with this procedure. Unfortunately we had a few issues: - new vs old floor did not match - Blemishes throughout: hair, lint, embedded dust particles, roller marks etc - began peeling after 3 weeks - I called a General Contractor for his opinion of the floor finish just to be sure I was not over reacting. The contractor agreed it was not good. Frank responded immediately when I called regarding the issues. He agreed to give a partial refund from the failed screening to apply to a full strip and 2 coats of poly. He said this would resolve all the current issues including blending the old vs new floor color. During the full stripping and poly coating we had an unforeseen stoppage on the third day so Frank reduced the final cost for my inconvenience. Other than the inconvenience of moving my furniture twice and vacating the house twice for a few days I have a very nicely finished floor at a reasonable cost. No blemishes, old vs new flooring matches and no peeling at this time.

Frank refinished the hardwood floors throughout the ground floor of a 1940s-era Cape Cod cottage that I'm using as a rental property. He was easy to work with and gave me a reasonable price. The floors look beautiful now (natural finish with two coats of polyurethane) -- never thought those old worn floors would ever look like that. Would definitely hire him again and would refer him to anyone looking to have this kind of work done.

Since he had refinished my floors at home, I knew I could trust him to go and do the same job at a home that was getting ready to be rented. He let himself in and he and his helper did sanding and refinished and did a GREAT JOB!

It went well with one exception. The floors looked absolutely beautiful. They finished in the time they said they would. They were easy to contact with regarding questions and problems. The one negative was that there were some minor damage done to the kitchen and bathroom cabinets and one area rug.

I hired Mr. Sandless to refinish the floors of my house to get ready for sale. Everyone I interacted with was very professional, I am just disappointed with the finished product and the crew did not close the door completely when they left, so my house was open for at least 4-5 before I could get over there. Thankfully I went the same day. I had no idea that part of the floor had been replaced at some point so when they removed the old stain, the floor was two very different colors. I would have appreciated a call to try to resolve this issue before sealing the floors, but no call happened. I wish I could attach a picture so all could see disparity in the colors of the two floors that are in the same room. I doubt potential buyers will be satisfied with the way the floors look, but I don't really have an option at this point. Will not use again.

We selected this deal because the beautiful heart pine floors in our old house needed refinishing but could not take another sanding. We decided to try Buff & Coat as an alternative. The workers came on time, clearly explained the process (and its limitations), and finished the entire job, including prep, in just two hours. The floor was dry by the end of the day. While clearly not the equal of a total refinish job, the floor looks great and we will likely use this company to address other trouble spots elsewhere in the house.
