Richmond Furnace Repair

We've used them for plumbing and heating. They also do our fuel oil and furnace maintenance. They are scheduled for furnace maintenance this week.

A company we had paid $150 to check our furnace previously told us there was no hope for the furnace and it would need to be replaced. The gentleman from Woodfin cleaned a few things, replaced the filter, added an automatic shutoff switch that switched the furnace off when our outdoor oil tank gets too low, and checked a few other things for us. Now the furnace works great and we do not have to worry about burning the furnace up if the oil gets too low.

They replaced a furnace. We had some troubles with the furnace. Vassar's was very responsive and had lots of trouble diagnosing the problem. After they narrowed it down to faulty equipment, they went back to the manufacturer and installed a new furnace.

My furnace made a loud high pitched sound in the middle of Saturday night. It was so loud it woke me up. I turned off the furnace and could smell a burning odor from the furnace. I stayed up all night to be sure everything was okay. First thing Sunday morning I called Woodfin and a service technician came to fix it a couple of hours later. A part shorted out and burn't out on the front of the furnace and that is why I could smell something burning. He said that part should not have burn't like it did. He fixed it and I have heat again.

Representative came and performed the 'check' portion of the furnace work. They were interested in selling other services. They did a visual inspection of the exterior of the furnace. When asked about the 'cleaning' portion was told that cleaning of the furnace, filter, internal bricks was not part of the agreement. Told them fine and asked them to leave.

The entire experience including the initial maintenance call, getting an estimate to replace my furnace, and the actual installation of a new Trane furnace and heat pump was done very professionally. Foster's was price competitive, prompt, and did an excellent job on the install and start-up of my system. I could not have been more pleased and would recommend them without reservation to anyone needing furnace repairs or replacement.

My old furnace dated from 1993, and I had been told that an internal part of the furnace, the heat exchanger, was rusted when the furnace got its yearly inspection. I was told that I could just replace the heat exchanger but was also considering getting a new furnace, given the age of the old one. I was impressed by the fact that the people from Keil Plumbing and Heating were the only firm to apply a chemical to the inside of the heat exchanger to see if it glowed when placed under light. The glow signified that small cracks were forming, and as the cracks grew, gas would begin to leak. It became obvious that I needed to get a new furnace. The price offered by Keil Plumbing and Heating was lower than most of the quotes and I liked how they proved that the heat exchanger was going to leak gas. The new heat pump/gas furnace has been fine and my monthly costs are lower now than they were with the old furnace. In connection with other repairs, they come when they say they will and they do the job.

We purchased our home in October of 2013. The furnace stopped working properly in February 2014. We have a home warranty. Another company was dispatched to fix our furnace. That company came out twice and did not repair the furnace properly. The home warranty company then dispatched Griffith. Griffith had to come out three times to completely fix the furnace. The first technician put a new blower fan in the furnace and actually put it on backward. Griffith finally had to send a manager or expert technician who put the fan on properly and did several other adjustments. The final technician determined that the furnace had a cracked heat exchanger. That part was covered under the manufacturers warranty and did not need to be covered by the home warranty company. Griffith worked very well with the home warranty company, who in turn kept us updated. Griffith came yesterday and completely fixed everything and the furnace is working better than ever. Even though there first technician screwed up they ended up completing the job properly in the end and treated us very well. I would recommend this company.

Ryan did great job of rapidly finding the source of the problem with the furnace (fan stuck in induction motor), fixing it by hand (without expensive replacement as another provider had done in past), and restoring furnace to normal function. Very efficient, neat, professional, courteous, and honest.

There was initial miscommunication as they serviced my AC unit instead of the furnace like I requested, so when my tenants informed me they did not work on the gas furnace I made a call and they were there that week to do the originally desired job. At no additional charge.
