Reviews in Raleigh for Solar Installation

Southeast Power NC, LLC

It went quite well. Weather hampered the installation, but installer kept me up to date. Installation was done quite professionally. One panel was producing only two-thirds of the others, so installer replaced it without hesitation. Am very happy with the job they did. My only negative is that they indicated my installation would just about zero-out my power bill. However, my average usage is about 30 kwh/day, and my maximum production is about 30 kwh/day. But many days produce less than the max. -- cloudy, pollen covering panels, rain, etc., so my quess is that the system will produce, on average, only half to two-thirds of our energy usage. Time will tell.

The process from went very well. Luke was responsive when we had questions and let us know installation dates with advance notice. The installation took about two days -- one to install the racks and a second day to install the panels and wiring. The inspection by Duke Power occurred and we were able to turn the system on go solar!

Needed to install a Tesla wall charger in my carport. I got three quotes for this work, and Yes Solar was significantly less expensive. Even though they are certified by Tesla, their knowledge of the Tesla car and charger was not exceptional but sufficient. They were reliable, very easy to work with, and punctual. They finished their work in about five hours which also included installing another overhead light in our carport and replacing a light switch in the basement. They were very professional and were intent on achieving customer satisfaction. I recommend them enthusiastically.

Sun Dollar is a fantastic local company. I worked closely with Greg Resch, who guided me though the process of installing a solar panel system on the roof of my residence in Carrboro. Greg knows his stuff, and I was impressed by the competence of the entire team. The install process was quick - 2 days - and my wife and I feel that the installation is performing really well. Greg helped us to handle technical issues that arose after the install, related to WiFi monitoring. Sun Dollar is a company that continues to work with you after installation. Greg and Dan also helped us to deal with the Duke Energy rebate situation, where Duke's website/server was overloaded on the application day. Thanks to Sun Dollar's persistence, I will be receiving the rebate. I love this company - they are local, hardworking, and smart.

Petruccelli Construction

We selected Petruccelli Construction after meeting with two other firms. Since we had a prior, very positive experience with this builder when we built the home twelve years ago we decided to hire them for this job. The builder (Tom was very useful during the design and planning phase. We incorporated several of his ideas into the project. Construction started on time and the estimated completion was off by about three weeks. This was due primarily to delays in delivery of special order materials and cabinets. We decided to live in the house during the remodeling process. This worked out ok, but I would probably make a different decision if I did it again. The builder attempted to seal off the construction area, but there was always something that we needed that behind the sealed area. That resulted in some dust getting to parts of the house where we lived. The fireplace wall presented some challenges because of the height of the wall and the units that we installed. It is difficult to find wood panels and mirrors that are over 10 ft tall. The only concern that we had about the project was the selection of the tankless water heater. We went with a lessor know brand based on the contractor's recommendation. He liked the recirculation feature, which allows you to program a pre-heat cycle for things like morning showers. The unit had several failures when first installed and i was prepared to have them replace it. But a final adjustment based on factory consultation seems to have resolved all problems. It has been flawless for almost a year. We are extremely pleased with the results of this renovation. We have one other project in our heads and I am sure that we will ask Tom to do it for us.

After buying an electric car I decided to look into fueling it with a PV system. I did a lot of research up front learning about issues such as mono/poly solar panels, inverter technologies, roof exposure, solar south, solar laws, HOA issues, Federal and State tax credits, and utility company rebate programs (Progress Energy's SunSesnse). I contacted a dozen certified PV installers (found at NC States's DSIRE database: http://www.dsireusa.org). Sun Dollar Energy was one of five that responded within a day or two (I heard from the other five after I had signed a contract with Dan). The five represented different size organizations from a large corporate installer, a national startup company, and two medium size companies to a small company: Sun Dollar Energy. Of the five, Sun Dollar Energy was the most informative and upfront about everything related to the process. Dan quickly responded to any questions I had and was fastidious about installation details ensuring that not only did I have an optimal performant installation but also a visually pleasing installation. What a pleasure it was to work with Dan, who I genuinely felt was as invested in my installation as I was.
