All went well. Technician checked that I have an ozone detector. He also verified the heat coming from selected heat vents.

They were quick and friendly. They accommodated my schedule. They called to remind me which was helpful. We have a contract with them. They had also installed a vent and did the home inspection on the heating and a/c system when we bought the house and we were happy with their work.

Todd Gillespie and the crew of Windows, Doors, and More have completed two projects - so far - for us in Chapel Hill. They have replaced EIGHT oversized sliding doors, vented a kitchen fan, and installed wooden ceilings in the living room and kitchen. Pluses have included professionalism, skilled and quality workmanship, attention to details, dependability, punctuality, effective communication, respect of the premises, prompt followup, and an unobtrusive presence that was easy to live with. The initial project (September 2013) involved the replacement of 30 year old Peachtree sliders that were nonfunctional. The problem entailed the repair of underlying rot resulting from long time water seepage due to inadequate installation and poor home design. After an unsuccessful attempt to avoid door replacement by repairing the doors with a different contractor, we bit the bullet and decided to follow Todd?s advice to install new Pella doors. We were highly satisfied with the results of the replacement of six large sliding doors and soon followed suit with the installation of another two sliders in December 2013. We are considering replacing the home?s remaining two sliding doors in the future. We have learned to trust Todd?s assessment of problems and his recommended solutions. The next project (December 2013) involved covering deteriorated popcorn ceilings in the vaulted living room and kitchen with prefinished pine panels that we ordered from Michigan. Todd, Dan, and Joe took great care in the installation of the wood ceilings. They wrapped the living room beams with local spruce and stained the beams and trim to match the wooden panels. The workmanship was top notch, and the result is aesthetically beautiful. Last, the group vented a stove hood to the exterior by creating a soffit to cover the duct work (December 2013). The soffit blends in with the kitchen design and offers an excellent solution to a greasy recirculating fan. Todd and Dan went the extra mile by creating a box and shelves within the cupboard where the vent is located. Unbeknownst to us, Todd traveled around the Triangle until he found melamine material that matched the oak cupboard interiors, and Dan spent additional time building a functional and attractive interior to the cupboard which would normally have been space lost to the new duct work. A particular asset of the Windows, Doors, and More group is that they ?do it all.? They are not dependent on subcontractors whose quality of workmanship may be uneven and whose scheduling can add unexpected delays. Todd?s group starts together, and they continue the project without interruption until completion. They do not work simultaneously on more than one project as often is the case with other contractors. All in all, we are very satisfied with Windows, Doors and More. The projects were started and completed according to plan. The estimated budgets were maintained without hidden extra costs. The group conducted themselves professionally and clearly took pride in their workmanship. We were impressed with their work ethic. They took care with the property and thoroughly cleaned up the interior and exterior every day before leaving for the night. They made a point to communicate difficulties they encountered clearly, and they found solutions to problems that we had not even noticed. It is never fun to have ongoing house projects - especially in December right before Christmas - but Todd, Dan, and Joe made the experience tolerable. At this point, we have no negatives to report, so we look forward to our next project with them.

I have no complaints whatsoever and was very pleased with this company and his work. They kept us informed throughout the entire services being provided. They were very professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs his services, as he can pretty much do it all. Even the prices were very reasonable.

There isn't much to tell. We had a leak in our hot water heater line which was spraying water over the crawl space. The heater is 19 years old and they could not repair the broken hose/valve. We needed to have the unit replaced. However, we have an odd water heater that vents directly to the outside from the crawl space. These units were not available at either Lowes or Home Depot which are close to us. The plumber had to go out to a local dealer that sells professional units to pick up the unit that he installed. Counting the time to do that, it took him close to 8 hours to get the new unit installed. Again the only issue is that our gas fireplace and heat vent out the same vent and both have capaciters to make sure the units don't overheat. Both of these malfunctioned after the repair.

Smelled something pungent 2 days in a row when I came downstairs in the morning. It smelled like gas. Husband and son didn't smell it and discounted it. I called gas company the second morning I smelled it. Gas company sent a serviceman out who checked out our HVAC gas pack outside. It was not only leaking gas outside, but low levels of carbon monoxide were detected in our house with his CO device. The Carbon Monoxide was blowing through the heat vents ! So first, kuddos go out to the gas company for speedy service on a Sunday morning, and for having an experienced service man ! Ladies, trust your noses ! It is a proven scientific fact that women have a better sense of smell than men ! My husband has always said I have the scent of a bloodhound, I don't know why he didn't trust it this time. Needless to say, it's a good thing I called ! The gas serviceman turned off the gas line to our furnace/AC unit and told us we needed to call an HVAC repair company. Thank goodness, no more carbon monoxide blowing into our house ! We checked out Angie's list. Airtight had good reviews and they were close by. Brian returned my call that day. Long story short, they were great to work with, great customer service, Brian came out the very next day, opened up the unit and showed me where the unit was cracked and the gas was leaking. The unit was 17 years old, so he said we got great longevity out of it. He was straight forward saying they could fix it, but when he heard that we would only be here for another 5 years and planned to sell, he suggested putting in a new unit since it was highly likely the old one would continue to give us problems. Also, the new unit would be a selling point for the house. We appreciated his knowledge and advice and decided to have them put in a new unit. Brian scheduled us asap for the install. The furnace was down from Sun-Wed., Airtight got to us for the install on Thursday which was fine. They told us what to expect, they would be here all day etc...would need access to the thermostat in the house for only the second part of the day (which meant I didn't have to take the whole day off of work). Also, Brian asked that before we turn on the AC in the spring to please call them, so they can come out and be sure it's working properly. I thought that was great customer service ! I feel we got excellent service and more importantly peace of mind. I highly recommend Airtight HVAC.
