Reviews in Raleigh for Pool Remodeling

Triangle Splash
Since my original review, Howard at Triangle Splash is the only person we call to open and close our swimming pool. He always does a great job (in fact he even does some extras that we did not ask him to do) and his pricing is very fair. He knows what he is doing and he is great to work with! I would not hesitate to use him for regular pool maintenance if I did not do that myself!...

Anthony & Sylvan Pools
Overall we very happy with our pool installation with Anthony and Sylvan Pools. Customer service is outstanding. We had no hidden price changes. Someone will always answer the phone or return calls right away. We had some small glitches that I was able to deal with. Subcontractors do not work for the pool company directly so they need to be supervised. Like I said the company reps always answer and are very receptive to customer complaints. Digging is one phase of pool construction that can result in extra costs. The excavator dug into a french flood drain that we thought was outside the dig. You have to negotiate the extra cost to fix unforeseen problems with your excavator. Our excavator could have demanded an obscene price as we would have been hostage. He fixed the problem at a very fair price. Also boulders too big to lift with the backhoe have to be broken up with a special jackhammer that is attached to the backhoe, and this can run several thousand dollars depending on boulder size and time . I was able to rent a jackhammer to break rocks myself and saved quite a bit of money. If you are doing a pool in the triangle area and use Anthony and Sylvan have them bring you for a visit, I'd be glad to show it off.

Peak Pool & Spa Service
Very bad experience. My replacement in ground vinyl swimming pool liner was installed with numerous wrinkles. The company owner said that they would smooth out once the pool was filled with water. After water, the problems just got worse. There are so many wrinkles that it is very difficult to vacuum. Also,I discovered that debris and rocks were left underneath the liner making the surface rough and uneven. I have had this pool for over 30 years and liners have always smooth and solid. The liner is also now beginning to come out of the track. Never came back to paint coping. This is a disaster. I have made numerous calls, email, and texts to give the company the opportunity to fix the problem. The company owner has scheduled many appointments to come back but he never shows up.

Summerwind Pools & Spas Inc
We signed up for their service at the beginning of the summer. They opened the pool, and initially everything went well. Early in July, we began to have a problem with algae, which had never happened before with the old company. I pointed this out to them and they said they would fix it. However, the problem got quickly and progressively worse. The pool became dark opaque green. I called and spoke with Danny on the phone approx. six times, I was always reassured that they were addressing the issue, but after 1 month of reassurance, my pool remains completely unusable and embarrassing. I would not recommend their service to anyone, they did not make me feel at all like they cared about the problem.

Rising Sun Pools & Spas
I was looking for someone to install a resort type pool because I am disabled and knew it was going to be my last pool. Since it was going to be my last pool I wanted it to be a cement pool, with the options I wanted they cost too much. I decided to go back to the liner type pool and checked with several companies. Rising Sun told me they could give me some of the options I wanted. They were going to install 8 fountains at $500 a piece. Once they installed the plumbing they said it would be $1500 a piece. I received a quote from them stating it would be $500. The quality of their work was terrible. When they installed the wall, to back fill it, they crushed one of the walls. Instead of taking it out and replacing it, they used Bondo to straighten it out. They told me I could pay to have the pool filled or I could use my water hose, I decided to use my hose, water got behind the liner and the liner started floating. They should have known this. A worker came out, pulled the liner away from the wall and crawled under it and dug the cement/vermiculite that was around the drains and when he was thru, he put it beside the pool and left it. We went out with hoes and picks and couldn't get it straighted around. Our neighbor came with a rototiller and got it up. They wanted to know if they could put their trucks by the pool and I told them they could but they couldn't drive across my front lawn because of water lines. They filled in part of my ditch. The first they did was drive across my front lawn. They were supposed to remove the dirt from the ditch when they left. I had to rent a backhoe to grate all the cement myself. They put in tile on the top portion of the pool and they didn't do it properly. They were supposed to put an expansion joint between the coping and the grout, they didn't and since the grout is softer the grout crumbled away. I told them about it and they came out, he used a screw driver to get the grout out. He filled the grout in by leaning over the pool. By the time he was finished my pool looked like chocolate milk because it was brown grout. It took me three weeks to fix that. They still haven't fixed the problem, the grout is cracking and falling out again. They didn't put in the expansion joint again. They recommended contractors, but there was only 1 contractor for cement work. I tried calling the cement contractor and they never returned my call. When I called Rising Sun Pools, they gave me JW Concrete and said he was experienced. When I contacted JW, he told me he wasn't experienced but was getting a free pool from doing it. Rising Sun denies that they had anything to do with JW Concrete. I made the concrete contractor stop because it was a bad job and called Rising Sun. THey told me they would have any problems corrected. They have yet to correct the problems. You have to watch what they write and say because they don't stand by any of it. I want people to beaware of this company because they will come out and act like they know what they're doing. They want to get the job for the money and don't care about the quality.

They did a good job. It was two college students who helped me with the work. They were polite and eager to work. Scheduling was great and they were able to work with my schedule.

Summerwind Pools & Spas Inc
We hired Summerwind to repaint our pool during the spring of 2012. They guaranteed the job saying they would repaint the pool if there were any problems. The paint began to chalk and flake off after three or four months. We lived with it for a few months and then called them back to have them honor the guarantee. We made multiple calls to Jay the owner with no response. We dropped by the store a couple of times until we were able to find him there. He agreed to repaint the pool per the guarantee. After several more months of waiting for the repainting to begin, and more unanswered phone calls, we dropped by again. Their excuse was that it was special paint and it was taking longer than expected to receive it from the manufacturer. We later learned that they had received the paint but were taking on other "higher priority" jobs before working on ours. They eventually sent a couple of guys out in the evening in June of 2013. They started the job but ran out of paint before finishing the job. The part they did paint was sloppy, with splashes of paint on the tile edging. Their empty rollers, rags, buckets, used tape, etc. were left on the floor and outside on the ground. Again, it took multiple phone calls, to determine status. Jay visited the house in August and promised to order additional paint, clean up the mess, and finish the job. Following multiple calls to gain a status report with no return call, I visited Summerwind in-person again. Jay offered more excuses for not completing the work, despite the fact that he had received the additional paint several weeks earlier. Now, a year and half after we had Summerwind paint the pool initially, it is still not complete. We been forced to move on and hire another company to complete the work that Summerwind started and was unable to finish. This was by far the worst contractor experience my wife and I have ever had.

Augusta Pool Plaster Inc. was fantastic. They were responsive and very knowledgeable about swimming pools. The owner works with his crew. They were very good and very affordable. I would give them five stars across the board. I would absolutely use them again in the future.
- Melanie W....
They were good. They were interactive. They called me back knew what they were talking about. They closed the pool while I was at work and I check it later. There were no problems, it went fine. I will use them again in the future.

Pool Remodeling in Raleigh

Recent Review: I signed the contract to install a pool in early March right before we went into the stay at home order for Covid-19. My experience with Superior and their staff was amazing from the initial phone call through completion of the pool and still the same as we are moving into the servicing business. Peter Sr. and Jake (Sales and Design) came out for the initial consultation and were very professional and thorough in understanding what I was looking for. Knowing my budget they went back to the office and developed 3 designs for us to choose from. Peter Sr. has been in this business for a long time and is a straight shooter. He will not waste your time. He is upfront in what costs are so you will not be blindsided later with additional bills. When I went in to go over the design choices I honestly was blown away by what Jake had designed. My daughter and I quickly selected our favorite and asked to sign the contract at that meeting, which I did not originally plan to do. Once Covid arrived there were delays, but only by my HOA and the town I live in. Superior continued working on my project. Once all approvals and permits were secured, Superior showed up and went to work. I was amazed at how fast they completed everything with no issues and no additional costs! The communication by everyone at Superior, Jake in Sales and Design, Ian (the Job Supervisor), Kathy and Tammy in Scheduling and Billing and Dan in the Service Department was and continues to be outstanding! My family LOVES our new pool and spa and are so happy we chose Superior to complete the work. We have a top notch pool and spa that are lifetime guaranteed and the process was quicker than expected and there were no headaches or hassles. I highly recommend Superior Pools and Spas if you are looking to create your own backyard oasis!

Recent Review: The people at Backyard Leisure where a pleasure to work with. I had a small yard with a lot of issues with the slope in my yard and they did a great job utilizing the slope and working it in to a fantastic water feature. One of the main reason I chose to go with them was because they handle every aspect of there build in-house. Even the concrete and block work. They gave me a 3D drawing and a 2D drawing to make sure I had a real accurate understanding of what my pool was going to be like. After we settled on a design they started the job about 2 weeks later. I am pleased. 5 weeks later I was using my pool. I did have one service call about 2 weeks after the installation was completed and they came out 2 days later and got it taken care of. I would feel comfortable recommending them to any of my friends or family.

Recent Review: Ben Collins does excellent work. He is professional, knowledgeable, very pleasant, respectful and listens. He did everything I originally asked for and more that I requested as the work progressed. Removed old 17 year leaking pool liner. We had a major leak in the filtering system for the last several years. He tested the filter tubing under the cement decking and located the leak. Removed a 3 X 3 square foot cement area to access the leaking joint. Fixed the leak located under the pool deep end skimmer (about 5 feet under the cement surface). Replaced the skimmer. Retested the filter system for leaks. Filled in the 6 foot hole and the top cement surface. Tested another area of the filter system for leaks at my request. Re-piped the above ground filter lines for the valves, pump, sand filter, Nature2 cartridge and the Polaris pump. Patched some cracks in the cement base. Installed the new pool liner. Installed both new skimmer frames, 4 new output ports, new latest "up to code" pool drain. Removed the pool gas heater at my request. Filled the 26000 gallon pool using a city hydrant meter I provided for reduced water costs. Cleaned up after all the work they did and left everything working like it did when it was new 17 years ago. At my request, he delayed doing the replacement work until all the pollen and tree spring droppings were finished. You can't beat this kind of service! HECK YES, I'll hire him again!
