$ In selling our residence, the buyer contracted and paid for a radon test. The test came in very high levels in our basement. I called three firms. I did research and found that there are only four radon testing/remediation individuals in the Triangle area who have national accreditation. One of the individuals I contacted was Randy Paquette of First Choice Rand R, one of the four individuals with the accreditation. Randy came out the next morning and quickly noted that the initial test was probably flawed by excessive rain, which affects the radon level. He conducted a second test and found that the radon level was about 50% of the initial test. He explained the testing and showed me the readings from the monitor. Even so, the test results were still above acceptable levels. He provided excellent remediation service for $1,250, which was less than the quote of $1,400 for the buyer's firm. Randy's price includes both the initial test and a follow-up test (after installation of the remediation). Further, he provides full written report and a five-year warranty transferable (at no cost) to the new owner. The other two firms (not certified) contacted me three days after I called and 7 days after I called. I highly recommend Mr. Paquette for his professionalism and responsiveness.

I contacted Mr. Nolfo based on previous reviews from Angie's List. I had a radon test done with my home inspection which showed initial elevations in the property we were planning to purchase. However, I learned that the person conducting the test was not certified nor was his equipment calibrated - so in order to verify the high reading we engaged Advanced Radon Detection Services to provide us with another validated radon detection test. Mr. Nolfo explained his process and was cognizant of our due diligence timeline. He worked with us, even through the snow storm to place the detection unit in the home and provide us with a timely report within 2.5 hours post the 48 hour test period. I would highly recommend Advanced Radon Detection Services to others.

Outstanding customer service, workmanship, punctuality and business procedure. The service provider is a decent, helpful guy who charges a fair price and delivers more than fair value. He is responsive, affable and helpful. I recommend that anyone looking for radon mitigation services in this area call his references as we did. They praise him uniformly and enthusiastically. You can us to that list. (Please note that Radon, Inc is affiliated with Croix Valley Radon Mitigation, LLC. I would suppose that this review should apply to them as well although we haven't had direct experience with them.)

Fred was wonderful to work with. He was very upfront about the process, charges, and everything was online, which was great given the current covid-19 pandemic. He was extremely thorough - he took 3 hours to carefully go through the entirety of the 2700 square foot townhome we are purchasing. He then spent an additional 20 minutes explaining each item to us in detail, which was great for a novice home buyer, like myself. He included photos of each item in the report, which was helpful to show the home owners and to serve as reminders. He was a pleasure to work with, and I'd absolutely hire him again!

Erik was an extremely knowledgeble inspector. Not only did he perform the service but he would take time out during the inspection process to show us the problem areas and to explain exactly why it was a problem. He was very polite and took his time. If you are interested in a thorough home inspection, Iron Homes is the provider for you!

Chris inspected my new home and did radon testing last week. He's very professional, experienced, and reliable. I received the electronic copy of the report with pictures of the damaged areas (garage floor, door sealing, siding, etc) about 6 hours after the inspection. He even reinspected my home to check if the builder completed all repairs. I got greater peace of mind about new home purchase. Thanks Chris for everything! I would highly recommend him and plan to hire him in the future!

First Choice R & R - Radon Remediation

My neighbor had a noisy radon system that was really bothering me. I looked up Randy on Angie's list, and contacted him to see if he could come out and check the system. Through my e-mail description, Randy explained what was wrong and how it could be fixed. A day or two after I agreed to go forward with his fix, Randy called me and let me know that he had replaced the pump and was done the work (no interior work was necessary). Now I can't even hear the pump from my property line- I have to get within a few feet to hear that it is in operation. Randy was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and fast. I don't recall the exact dates, but first contact to e-mail invoice must have taken only a few days. If you want the job done right and quickly, I highly recommend Randy and First Choice R and R.

Recent Review: Erik installed the radon inspection device, but our builder brought in painters to do work on the house. The painters worked inside with doors and windows open and then left for the day with doors wide open. When I called Erik to say this would negate the test, he graciously said he would come back a week later to re-install the radon testing machine and re-do the test at no cost.

Recent Review: We are first-time home buyers and Wilson was fantastic about explaining everything he was looking at in the house. He was very personable and professional, and genuinely interested in helping us understand how our potential future home works, as well as providing advice on upgrades or optional changes we might want to make in the future to improve home efficiency and overall safety. Wilson was also dedicated to the job at hand while he was with us, making a point not to get distracted with other calls. We would definitely recommend Right Step Home Inspection to other first-time homebuyers, and others that are seeking a knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient home inspection services. We are happy to have found Wilson through our realtor, and will definitely keep him in the address book for any future questions we might have about our home.
