Reviews in Raleigh for Natural Stone Tile Installation

Affordable Tile by Moses

Amazingly well... Mr Moses was top notch. I made an error in ordering the tile and did not order enough, delaying completion. I was not charged extra even though he had to return on another day to complete the floor. Beyond that Mr Moses was very informative regarding some potential issues with the natural stone tile that I had not considered. He was on time, professional, and friendly! I could not ask for more. Very pleased with both his work and his professionalism.

They did a good job and I am fine with them. My fiancee and I were looking to remodel the kitchen and we went shopping for tile. We went to their place and found tile and they beat everybody's price by a large amount. They were prompt in installing it and did an excellent job of installing it. They did a really good job and I have no concerns with them. I would recommend them highly.

I called three local tile shops including Best Tile (the one we ultimately chose) and asked for the best natural stone flooring guy in the area and every single one said Steve and his crew. I have to say, the results lived up to the hype. More on that later... Quick background: Back in July of 2013, we had a dishwasher leak while on vacation. Ruined very expensive exotic wood flooring (Merbau) that ran wall to wall in the entire first floor. All the wood flooring in three rooms (kitchen, bathroom and office) was cupped and ruined. In addition, all the cabinets had to go. Since Merbau is now banned by the EPA in the US (thanks Obama), we knew we were not going to be able to match the existing flooring. So we made the tough decision to make the switch to Travertine in the kitchen and bath and we had the office flooring repaired with the dry boards we salvaged from the kitchen. Of the 4 natural stone flooring guys we interviewed (all the top rated ones on the List) Steve was the ONLY one willing to go with a 1/16th grout line and he is the only installer in the state to perform the and quot;Euro Finish.and quot; This is essentially a process for finely polishing the floor after grouting and then working the sealer into the floor with a big machine and pads to make sure it is protected and smooth for easy cleaning and so it is nice on bare feet. I was worried the the Euro Finish was going to be a quick way to hide defects in the craftsmanship or materials. BOY WAS I WRONG. Get this...after the floor was installed but BEFORE the grout even went in, I went to one side of the 23 ft long kitchen and slid a quarter across the floor to see if there was any lippage (I learned this was tile guy speak for uneven tiles). None. NO matter how many times or which direction I slid the quarter...it just slid across without skipping. The other installers I interviewed all said that there may be lippage with their install but the 1/8 grout lines they proposed would allow that to not be an issue. Anyway, after the floor was 100% done and grouted the quarter test worked just the same. Unbelievable job. The crew was top notch. There were plenty of days we just left the crew here and were gone. During the backsplash install, we were not going to be there...and we were 100% comfortable with having a neighbor meet them and let them in the house to do their thing. The backsplash is BEAutiful. These are SKILLED craftsman who have done this for 10-20 years as a trade, not some guy who who a tile install class and hung out a shingle. One of the most important things to research when deciding on an installer is how they prep the sub-floor. Steve uses Ditra. That is all you need to know. It is the best uncoupling layer on the market and a MUST when installing any natural stone floor. None of the other guys wanted to use Ditra because it it not cheap. I did not want to spend all this money on beautiful tile only to have crack develop because I skimped on the sub-floor. Steve has been quick to answer questions about care and products to use for cleaning and occasional sealing. He is a great guy to boot. He was good enough to refer me to several local companies he has relationships with for various remodel-related work. EVERY single person who has done work at my house as a referral from Steve has been top notch. I would not hesitate to refer Steve and his company to anyone. In hindsight...I wish I had just hired him to be the General Contractor on the whole project. I think the price was more than fair for the quality of the materials, workmanship and professionalism. I will post some pictures soon.

Jonathan and his team were fantastic to work with from start to finish! He was very professional, explained everything in great detail, and provided a reasonable price for the job. They arrived on time and we couldn't be happier with the end result. The stone work looks perfect. We would gladly recommend them to others. Thank you!!

Sales appointment on time, brought samples, discussed thoroughly product, good suggestions, knew his products and industry, installer was Oscar and team, arrived on time, called ahead and said would be delayed 2 hours due to another job, started with 2 guys then after lunch, 4 guys. Finished entire job in 9 hours. Very professional, friendly, cleaned up!! Still love the floor, no problems, coming up onto 2 months later. I have already recommended to a friend.

Owner came out to give me an estimate by the time he left he had saved me over $1000 dollars based on what I thought I wanted versus what would be just as appealing and much cheaper to actually have installed. We had some old stone tile at our front and back door that did not match our laminate flooring in the rest of the living area. We had some leftover in the garage and it turned out it was enough to replace the stone and make the entire area laminate. This saved us money on materials and labor! Then the vinyl flooring we chose was good, but the upgraded material he suggested was much thicker and higher quality for a very small difference in overall cost. Very happy with the install team (highly professional and neat) and they were a lot of help with moving furniture that needed to be out of the way for the install. Only issue I had was when my new refrigerator was installed in snagged the new floor a little and made a small tear. I contacted the owner and told him about it, but we never got back in touch to have the flooring repaired in that spot. I would like that to happen some day, but that did not reflect much on my review.

We had a contractor walk out on us leaving us with everything half done on a kitchen remodel and addition. The stone flooring was the final piece of the inside work to be completed and we were pretty short tempered after 3 months of the kitchen being inhabitable. Craig did not take it personal when we challenged him, asking questions and completed the work as requested. He came back, even after we paid him to buff out some deep scratches we had found. The price was very fair considering our contractor had wanted $3600-4600 for the same work!

Ken Catalano Tile and Stone

They were great! When I called, Ken answered immediately. He came over the same day to do an estimate. Originally my master bath had 3x3 white subway tile and the tilework on the bench was horrible. Anyway, I had already bought some 6x6 tile that I really liked but asked for his experienced opinion on how it would look. He was very honest and said that he would suggest 12x12 being the predominant tile given the size of my bathroom. I really appreciated his professionalism and honesty, especially since it would cost me less to have him hang the 12x12 than the 6x6 tile I already had. He really went above and beyond and kindly offered to take a look at tile with me since I'm not the best at visualizing. We selected the tile and accents (he suggested some stone shelves and some natural stone squares). Ken and Vin showed up on time the day of the job, were respectful and went right to work. Ken was clearly very experienced, methodical, and had no problem answering questions or explaining how he was going to work through the job. It is a little hard to explain but having such experience was important to getting the finished product; just knowing how the proper prep, layouts, corners, and slopes would both interplay and result in the look and function were invaluable. I have plans for several other tile jobs and would definitely use them again.

Recent Review: He did a fantastic job. No issues from start to finish. Everything we discussed or agreed to he held up his word. He helped me save money where I could and did a high quality job. I have referred him to a couple friends of mine that were looking to have some work done on their homes as well. They agreed with me that he charged a fair rate, honest, and hardworking individual.

Recent Review: Matt Fisher gave us a quote and a timeframe for the job within half an hour of a no-nonsense home visit. He explained the process, what his company's responsibilities are and what we would need to do. The wood was delivered and it was beautiful, and also sustainably harvested, which we appreciated. His crew was efficient, polite, meticulous, and very knowledgeable. We got stain samples displayed on our newly installed floors, which helped us to determine what we liked. They made the new floors mesh with the refinished, 40-year-old floors, perfectly. We are very pleased.

Recent Review: Ray Smith and company installed a new sheet vinyl floor in a 30 year old townhouse. They removed the old sheet vinyl floor and installed the new one. The installers were excellent. They carefully removed and re-installed the stained wood quarter rounds around the kitchen. They did a nice job lining up the pattern on the floor. They moved the stove and put it back without damaging the granite counters. They also moved the refrigerator, reconnected it and moved it back. Overall we were very pleased. Ray did a good job estimating the amount of material needed so we had to purchase just the right amount of sheet vinyl for the floor.

Recent Review: We initially contacted Flooring Coverings Intermational to replace our existing kitchen floor that had been damaged due to a dishwasher leak. Marty Hartwell listened to our concerns and after finding out we had some leftover vinyl tile he indicated repairing the section of damaged floor was possible rather than replacing the entire floor. That kind of honesty and no hassle sales approach is hard to find. Marty is warm, caring and truly wants to do right by his customers. We didn't need a new floor, we needed Marty Hartwell and Floor Coverings International. Based on this amazing experience, we will definitely be contacting them again in the future.
