Reviews in Raleigh to Install Bamboo Flooring

CAROLINA IN HOME FLOORING & DESIGN CENTER

I was initially interested in the Angie's List deal for hardwood flooring. After having Drew come out for a free estimate and discussing options, we decided to go with bamboo flooring which turned out to be cheaper than the deal plus we wanted bamboo to start with. Drew was very professional and knowledgeable about the products. He was also very quick in getting us a quote as we were in time crunch to get a lot of things done. This was much appreciated as there was several other contractors who came and measured and than never even followed up with a quote. After getting the quote on May 5th, we were able to have the work scheduled on May 15th. Again, scheduling it 10 days out was great for us as every other contractor was saying 3-4 weeks. Having the floors put in that quickly allowed us to get everything else done in a very short time frame. The installation crew did a great job and got everything put down in one day. They were very professional and easy to work with. They were even able to fit in my last minute request to install new baseboards for a very reasonable additional amount. The flooring looks great and sounds great. I would not hesitate to hire them for another job and I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great deal from an honest company.

Nelson was kind enough to come out to talk with me about my project even though I live pretty far away from him. I appreciate the time he took to talk with me about the project, and he even pointed out a couple of other home maintenance issues that need to be addressed. I really enjoyed talking to him. Although I didn't have him complete this particular project, he seems very detail oriented and I believe he would have done a good job. He even made a CAD image of our bonus room for me! I would recommend him.

I cannot speak enough to what an amazing job they did! The quality of work was top notch, they adapted on the fly, and they managed to refloor my entire house in three days (including removing all of the old carpet and tile). The result was perfection and it's stood the test of time three years later. They also had a very impressive selection of material to choose from. For our kitchen I wanted the safest, least slick floor for my family, and they showed my a variety of tiles which had defined friction coefficients. I found the highest values and the style which we wanted, and the result is a marvelous and safe kitchen floor even when wet. You cannot get this knowledge or product choice when going to the big box retailers. Simply put, Signature Flooring could not have done a better job. Bravo!

Apex Floor & Tile

We hired Apex Floor and Tile to install the bamboo flooring we had purchased throughout the 1st floor of our house. When the job was about half way done, we noticed that their sub-contractor had scratched the bamboo during the installation and there was glue smeared all over the floor. He then used a lacquer thinner to buff and clean the floor. The floor manufacturer specifically states not to use mineral spirits on the bamboo flooring, so the installer had just destroyed the 10-coat scratch resistant finish. We also learned at a later point that they used the wrong glue for the installation. Apex Floor and Tile initially agreed to remove the installed floor and take care of any damages that might occur during the removal process, replace the damaged flooring at their cost and bring in another sub-contractor to finish the project. They reordered the bamboo; however it was not a good color match to the original floor we had purchased. There was an obvious difference in color and shade. Unfortunately, it wasn’t noticeable until after the flooring was fully installed because it was stacked for acclimatization. So we just have to live with it at this point. During the floor removal process, the sub-floor was damaged as well as our brand new walls, the kitchen toe kick and kitchen island panel. The second sub-contractor they sent out tried to convince us to do a click installation of the floor rather than the glue installation we had asked for. After we declined, he refused to install the flooring at all. At this point, it went downhill with Apex Floor and Tile. They refused to repair the damages, refused to compensate us for the damages and they informed us that we were better off hiring another contractor to complete the project. We went back and forth with them but they wouldn’t budge. So we had to find new contractors to repair the damages and to install the flooring. Once everything was completed, we sent Apex Floor and Tile a compensation request. After weeks of back and forth again, they finally agreed to pay us. It wasn’t until I followed up with them a week later that they actually wrote us the check and dropped it off. All in all, a disappointing experience that caused us almost two months of delays in our remodeling process and lots of stress and headaches. We do not recommend Apex Floor and Tile.

It was great. There were a few little glitches and they were unsure how to fix it. They came back and fixed it. There were no complaints about this which was important for me.

1) Charges were over contract amount. 2) Subcontractors asked me what they were supposed to do. 3) Was told by David Wooding, the owner (who gave the pitch at our home) that the flooring would look more professional in the bathrooms if they were to pull the toilets so there would not be a gap they would have to caulk, so we opted to pay additional charge for that. Well, they pulled the toilets, but caulked anyway--bright white, which not only looked like a DIY amateur job, but our toilets are not even white! So, it looked horrible and they have yet to come out to re-do that. (They cancelled the appointment for tomorrow-- two weeks after the original job-- saying via email to confirm "No later than today at 4:30" which was only an hour later than their email. Unbelievable. We now live out of state and have to rearrange travel, etc to make it into town at THEIR convenience?) We paid for three bathrooms, they only had time to do two, and now are going to charge us an additional "at least $250" (their words via email). We are trying to put this house on the market and are WAITING for this to be completed. Owner, when I met him, was congenial, professional, but is now a total no-show -- you deal with the ladies in the office who are friendly and helpful when it comes to setting up the intitial job, but once you have a problem or complaint, unprofessional. Rude, bossy, did not answer for an entire week after I contacted them the evening of the install to tell them of five problems. Run. I wish I had read Angie's List reviews before taking our granite installer's recommendation to hire this company. : (

They did a great job. Some of the boards were off color (not their fault.... issue was with manufacturer) and they were happy to liaise with manufacturer to get new boards and reinstall.

Excellent. Two person team arrived on time and were exceedingly polite and knowledgeable. They took up old carpet, pad and staples. Installed new flooring, including shoe molding. They cleaned up after themselves and did an excellent job at matching the floor level to the fireplace marble hearth. They were meticulous about filling in finish nail holes left over from the install of the shoe molding. Highly recommended, I would hire them again with no qualms whatsoever! Very professional.

These guys were the wonderful. We interviewed 4 companies and Moon was the least expensive, most responsive and they did a fabulous job. Arrived on time, were very neat. Plan to use them again to do another floor in our home

We hit a snag in the original schedule due to a family-medical emergency with the owner of the company. However, he communicated professionally with us about the delay and offered to recommend another company to do the work. We decided to wait until they could do the work and we're glad we did. They were prompt, worked hard, and did a good job.

Recent Review: Matt Fisher gave us a quote and a timeframe for the job within half an hour of a no-nonsense home visit. He explained the process, what his company's responsibilities are and what we would need to do. The wood was delivered and it was beautiful, and also sustainably harvested, which we appreciated. His crew was efficient, polite, meticulous, and very knowledgeable. We got stain samples displayed on our newly installed floors, which helped us to determine what we liked. They made the new floors mesh with the refinished, 40-year-old floors, perfectly. We are very pleased.

Recent Review: Ray Smith and company installed a new sheet vinyl floor in a 30 year old townhouse. They removed the old sheet vinyl floor and installed the new one. The installers were excellent. They carefully removed and re-installed the stained wood quarter rounds around the kitchen. They did a nice job lining up the pattern on the floor. They moved the stove and put it back without damaging the granite counters. They also moved the refrigerator, reconnected it and moved it back. Overall we were very pleased. Ray did a good job estimating the amount of material needed so we had to purchase just the right amount of sheet vinyl for the floor.

Recent Review: We initially contacted Flooring Coverings Intermational to replace our existing kitchen floor that had been damaged due to a dishwasher leak. Marty Hartwell listened to our concerns and after finding out we had some leftover vinyl tile he indicated repairing the section of damaged floor was possible rather than replacing the entire floor. That kind of honesty and no hassle sales approach is hard to find. Marty is warm, caring and truly wants to do right by his customers. We didn't need a new floor, we needed Marty Hartwell and Floor Coverings International. Based on this amazing experience, we will definitely be contacting them again in the future.

Recent Review: Simon refinished our hardwood floor 10 years ago and our floors needed a buff and coat after some rough use and a lot of traffic over the years. We were hoping that he would still be in business despite the pandemic and help us again. We were so happy to find out that he was still in business and he would have time to do the job for us. As before he did a fantastic job and the floor looks like new again! Couldn't have asked for anything better.

Recent Review: Chris arrived promptly at our home at the time agreed upon. He is very knowledgeable of his craft and worked very efficiently. He installed the flooring in two bathrooms and we are very satisfied with the result. He even removed and installed two vanities in our bathrooms although it was not part of our agreement simply because we asked. I would definitely contact Chris with Happy Flooring again for any of our flooring needs and would recommend him to others as well.
