Register's Repair Service
I can’t say enough great things about Alan and his company. Gave me a realistic estimate for cost, time to finish, and his availability. Showed up exactly when he said he would, did phenomenal work, cleaned up after it was all done like he was never even here. I will certainly hire him again for any more projects I think of

Update - - Filed a complaint with both BBB and NC Attorney General - current BBB rating "F" Update - Third party review of deck issue - 9/12/2015 : Faulty deck due to design/workmanship - Third party evaluations identified poor workmanship and design which caused the material (deck fascia) to fail. Fascia installed incorrectly - now require removal of existing fascia / new deck boards/design / materials/labor to fix deck Wife and I liked the design of the deck and that is where it stops! - Great design - poor workmanship/materials! Jim lacked a knowledge of the right materials to do the job and now we have a defective product - Warped fascia board all throughout my entire deck.. He did replace the fascia once, but with the same results . now he does not want to support me in my efforts to get it fixed again- either through new material selection or financial recovery from Timbertech. I had to independently file a claim with Timbertech without his direct support. I am am high and dry with a defective deck and out $20K - THANKS JIM! As a contractor, who was generously compensated, he should have stand behind his product and worked to correct the issue - instead of walking way from the repeating design/material problem. Jury is still out on why all the fascia board warped: a) Poor material selection for location/type of deck (tree droppings / moisture/ sunlight) - Jim knew location details this ahead of time - trees/sunlight etc. As an engineer/designer - he should have researched his material selection and chose according to environment. b) Poor workmanship - fascia incorrectly installed causing warping (screws too tight causing warping) - Jim lacked direct supervision of his "contracted" Hispanic laborers - language barrier too. He agreed first pass install was not properly installed - replaced fascia once and same warping results! c) Poor deck design for install placement of fascia - Design does not protect Fascia seams from moisture/leaves exposure to warping, talking with others - seems the fascia seems should be somewhat protected from moisture seepage - design/install does not protect seams d) Defective materials from Supplier (Timbertech) - while Jim did get fascia replaced once (cause he though his original install caused the warping) - he used the same replacement materials with the same warping outcome - now has totally walked away from problem! Not gonna do any more for you! - THANKS JIM For any of these issues - the contractor should be professional and take responsibility to work with his client to remedy. Jim has failed

JM Decks & Fences
JM Decks & Fences did a wonderful job on my recent backyard renovation. Firstly, they removed our 10+ year old deck and rebuilt it. They also installed a hardscape/patio in our back yard as well as a fire pit. JM Decks & Fences were very professional and communicative. It was a pleasure working with them. We are very happy with their work and the final product. Happy to provide recommendations

DECKS BY ALL MEANS
MY DECK IS AWESOME and I owe it all to Decks by All Means. We needed a deck on a challenging site and Bob and his team came through for us. They approached the problem creatively while being sensitive to our needs and our budget. The team was professional, courteous, thorough and talented. When weather interrupted work, Bob always communicated the status of our project so we never felt like we were forgotten. The finished deck is beautiful and sturdy - it looks better than I could have imagined it. Even now, months later I find myself noticing small, thoughtful details in how the deck constructed. Bob knows how a deck is supposed to go together! He is the man to call

Case Description: Estimate that was provided for a two-part construction/painting job was not honored for the second part. On October 19, 2017, Phil provided an email estimate for a two-part job, totaling $1200 for building deck stairs, $1500 for staining the steps and adjacent deck and front porch, and a $200 discount on the total job based on NCState/HomeMag. On October 24, 2017, Phil provided an email estimate for the first part of the job, which was for $1200. We paid it and the work for the first part of the job started on October 25. At the time, I was concerned about the lack of discount applied to the first part of the job and Phil said not to worry, he would still honor it. Phil advised us to pick a stain color and he would put us on the schedule. I contacted him on February 9, 2018 to ask when we could be put on the schedule. He responded on Feb 13, 2018 to pick out the stain and we would be on the schedule for March, depending on the weather. On March 25, 2018, I contacted Phil to let him know we had picked a stain. Today, March 27, 2018 he provided a contract for the second part of the job, i.e. deck/stairs/porch painting/staining. It was for $1500. I inquired about the discount that was in the original quote, thinking that he just forgot about it. Instead, I got this reply: "The discount was if you did them at the same time not 6 months later." I wrote: "At the time when you finished the first part of the job, I asked and you said it would still be honored." His reply: "Not 6 months later. If you don't want us to do the staining that's fine." I inquired: "If I provide the same coupon I provided then would you honor the coupon?" His reply: "No. I think you find someone else." My reply: "It's been 5 months since the original contract and I did contact you after the holidays in February to get started which is when you said March - it has been snowing and raining since then..." His reply: "Fantastic. That offer was made in 2017. Since then the prices on labor and materials have gone up. I never give out a price that is good for more than 30 days. Good luck with everything but don't contact us again" Not only was the response from the owner extremely rude but it is clear to me now that he never intended to honor the coupon as the original contract stated. In addition, there is no part of the contracts he provided that states that the prices are only valid for 30 days. I hope that by starting this complaint others are not duped in the same way

Thomas Trades LLC
Josh was fantastic. I contacted him to come out and provide an estimate for a deck we wanted built in a "dead space" beside the house. He came as scheduled, discussed what we wanted done, asked questions, made suggestions and provided a quote 3 days later as promised. We agreed to the price and scheduled the work for early November. Josh and his crew showed up as scheduled and did a fantastic job. The work was done on schedule and on budget and we'll definitely use Thomas Trades again. I have Josh doing estimates for 2 more projects we want done. We can't speak highly enough about Josh, his knowledge, his professionalism and of course his skills

North Carolina Exteriors
Excellent. Hardest workers. I waited to write this review. The deck is almost 5 months. Just gorgeous. The company was very responsive when we wanted changes. I used my existing foundation and they replaced all exposed wood, built steps, huge lattice, built me a big plater box. I think I spent about $12,000. It was worth every penny. Best construction company I've ever worked with

Qualis Home Improvements, LLC
Randy and his crew built a quality deck. There was no problem having them return to fix a minor problem which was due to the wood and not their construction. My only problem with them was that they did not remove the remains of the old deck when they demolished it but waited until they finished the new deck. Minor problem but with old nails sticking out it could have been dangerous

Services and value provided by Apex DeckSavers got 10 of 10 stars from my wife and I. Charlie owns and operates a thoroughly professional company. He currently specializes in restoring, refinishing wood decks. Our experience was by the book superb from beginning to end. All work done on schedule, completely. The end product was a the conversion of a peeling, cracked, blotchy deck into a wonderful, pleasant deck that I love sitting one again! This was one of the few times that I sincerely felt that I had underpaid for the quality of work done. My wife and I both refused to take a discount for posting a review. After all was done Charlie recommended that we wait before trying to stain the deck. So when was the last time you heard someone recommend waiting to perform additional services? I am hoping that Charlie expands his services as there are many more we can use

DECKS BY ALL MEANS
The deck that they built is a 30 by 12 raised deck and is 20 feet high. They did a good job too. The project was great and the person who came out to get the work done was great too. I chose him, as he was the only one available. It took them 1 week to build the deck and they used pine wood.

Ridgeline Home Builder Inc
Alan and his team did an outstanding job repairing damage from our old deck and building a much larger new deck with a privacy wall on one side. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted and he took time to consult on the project, researching and showing examples until I settled on the design. Everyone took extra care getting our new deck just right and we practically live out here whenever the weather cooperates. Deck was complete ahead of schedule despite challenges with weather and communication throughout was prompt and helpful. Would absolutely recommend and plan to hire again for future home projects

Gary was great to work with, professional, responsive, and very knowledgeable. He has a crew of nice, very experienced, hard working guys that put up our new deck very quickly...in under a week! The deck looks great, and is very solid. Everyone who sees the deck, wants to know who built it. Couldn't be happier

GARUDA CUSTOM DECKS INC
Our deck looks absolutely great. They designed the deck just for us and what we wanted. They used the materials we requested and just did an overall great job. If we ever need another deck, we will definitely be using them because they are a really impressive company.
Jim Ciao provided very knowledgeable advice on how to refurbish my deck and front porch railing. He was professional, kind, and his prices were extremely reasonable. His team worked diligently, professionally and clean up was meticulous. I am very, very pleased with my new deck and refreshed front porch railing! I highly recommend Jim and his team
I have been using R&D’s services for 14 years. Travis Robeson is a pleasure to do business with and every crew member is affable and very personable. They come to do a job and it gets done. On time! And they clean up after themselves. Call R&D for your next project. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed
New two level wood deck with railing and lattice all around ... they hand stained and rolled and sprayed depending on the area and what it required. Had to wait to schedule until wood was dry due to the spring rains but as soon as it was possible, they arrived and finished it all in one day... they did a great job and left the work area clean and you would never have known anyone was there working all day, except for the beautiful new stain job on the deck! Thanks to Ryan and the guys... great job! Would definitely use them again
It was fine. We had no real problems. We had to go back and they came back and took care of it. They were on time. I think there were 2 guys the first time. We weren't there the second time but one of the same guys came back.
All Pro Painting is the first home improvement company I have given a perfect 10 for their work. I have an older Masonite sided house which was very difficult to repair/paint. After they began, and I saw the incredible quality of their work every day, I also had them replace even more things like old deck boards/steps/handrails ect.. and replace many more siding boards and fix extra soffits/facial boards/roof dormers, rake moldings. My original estimate was for about $5,000 and I added the deck for about $3,000 and about another $3,000 of extra work (for a $11,000). Over the last 40 years I have helped my family paint their houses and barns a dozen times so I know I got an amazing price and high-quality workmanship. I spent one month reading over 1,000 reviews of only the A rated companies on Angie’s List and having every one of them come out to the house and give me estimates. Over half gave me crazy estimates more than twice as much and treated me like they were doing me a favor by letting me pay them to paint/repair my house. Additionally, almost every A rated company was high-pressure sales tactics, they spent less than 5 minutes doing the estimate and acted like they could care less about getting my business. Donald, my All Pro estimator/supervisor, came out and spent a very long time looking at every single inch of the house. He patiently explained all the little details of the job and offered great ideas/prices for extra work. I could not afford to pay $20,000 just to replace all the old Masonite siding. So we came up with a top-notch plan to only replace the worst boards and individually patch/caulk the rest to keep the price down. As the job progressed, he and Carlos (Crew leader) spent even more hours with me looking at each individual siding board and decking boards to decide which ones to replace. They don’t try to inflate the total bill, instead, they both worked harder than anyone I know to keep the price as low as possible in my budget. The quality of the work was the best I have ever seen for painting/repairs. I have to also give an extra special complement to Carlos and his great crew. Without any doubt, no comparison, I have never seen anyone take more pride in his work and make everything perfect, just the way the homeowner wants. He has been a carpenter/painter for over 25 years. They spent 2 weeks scraping/caulking/patching/priming over a thousand cracks, nail holes and joints. Perfectly doing all the extra carpentry work on the rotten soffits/facial boards/rake molding/dormer windows/back deck. He is also one of the nicest people to get along with and makes sure you are 100 percent happy with the smallest detail. I hope the company treats him extra special because he is an amazing employee who really showcases the type of high-quality work All Pro provides to their customers. I wrote a longer review than I normally do because most of the other Angie’s List “A rated” companies should be B’s or C’s and you should avoid them. I always rely on other homeowner’s honest reviews, and wanted to pass on my great experience with All Pro Painting (they also offer lots of other smaller services like painting outside furniture, light fixtures ect…anything you need, they can do). No surprises with All Pro. They do top quality work, at the lowest price I found and never try to take advantage of you by pumping up your final bill. Any extra beyond the original quote is only for things you can’t find until you start tearing into the boards and see the actual condition of every inch of wood. And they don’t do anything extra until they show it to you and patiently explain your options. Best Tip: Only get Carlos to do your job, even if you have to wait a month or more to get into his rotation, and get Donald to be your Supervisor/Estimator. Hope my review helped and thanks to all the other people whose reviews I read that helped me select All Pro Painting. It was an important project to me. Some people really don’t care how much they pay or how the job turns out. I live on a fixed-income and expect very high-quality work for my money/time. I always do the same type of research/time with the companies who built my privacy fence, fixed my pump for my well and all my electrical and plumbing work over the years. I don’t like feeling I got ripped-off or received bad workmanship. All Pro made me feel great about this big project. I sleep great at night knowing I made the perfect choice. Good Luck with your Project
New Generation team did an excellent job revitalizing my old deck and back facade It has added great value to my home and I am looking forward to years of outdoor enjoyment with family and friends. The New Generation team were always professional, polite and always upbeat. They work competently and efficiently, even in the beastly August heat. They also left the work area spotless
Todd and his crew were awesome. Searching for a window installer ended up being much more challenging than we anticipated. After several phone consultations and visits from others in the industry we settled on Todd for several reasons. 1. He didn't have a hidden agenda to sell us the cheapest and best vinyl windows money could buy. Unfortunately this was the common theme we experienced among the many others who visited and called our home. We have a unique wood sided home with beautiful wood antique windows that unfortunately weren't very energy efficient. We wanted to replace our windows but keep it aesthetically pleasing as possible. Todd listened to us and suggested several different options. He gave us time to research the options before we finally settled on the Marvins. 2. Todd told us up front that the only option for us was a full-frame replacement window that a pocket replacement simply wouldn't work. He also told us there would be some unique challenges to our installation once he pulled the old windows out that may take a little extra time to correct. I'm no expert but we actually anticipated this to be the case based on the unique construction of our home. Again I was more than a little turned off by the number of "experts" who called my home telling me they could install a vinyl window in my home for $99 a window without any problem what-so-ever. 3. Todd was willing to coordinate the window installation with the contractor we had selected to replace the siding on our home. In fact Todd made several suggestions to make this all work so that both contractors wouldn't be sitting idle waiting for the other to finish. It took Todd and his crew about 5 days to complete our installation. They were very professional while on site and made sure each and every window installed was perfectly square and secure in the framing. They were able to correct all issues they discovered while removing our old windows so the new windows would be secure and well insulated around the framing. The workers were punctual, courteous, professional, and neat. I would certainly hire them again
I found Marlon and his crew to be very good. On time at the job - picked up after work - completed work on schedule. Marlon was very responsive and proactive in solving any problems that arose. I would recommend them for any Deck work.
Rafael and his team cleaned, repaired and painted the exterior of our home, trim, doors and shutters and stained the deck. They were punctual, professional, unobtrusive and cleaned up the site exceptionally well. Rafael was particularly helpful in suggesting materials to use for repair and assisting with the selection of colors as well as the brand and grade of paint. Despite signing off and paying for the job when I noticed a small amount of deck stain on the white house trim Rafael sent a team member back to repaint that area of trim. Rafael was extremely responsive and available before, during and after the actual painting and we will hire his team again in several years to repaint the exterior or earlier to paint our interior. Rafael and his team made having our house painted as pleasant as possible. We are very, very happy with the result and many neighbors have complimented us on our home. Thank you Rafael and team
A+++ I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Tim arrived very quickly for a walk around and estimate following my initial contact with Susan. We discussed several projects on our to do list. Tim made recommendations as to how certain items needed to be addressed. He completed the estimate during the first visit and advised when the next opening in their schedule would be. Following our approval, the crew showed up in full force exactly when they said they would. They let me know exactly what they were going to do and when. Everyone on the crew was professional a very courteous. Everything was cleaned up and put away properly at the end of each day. I am completely satisfied with the work and the entire process. They show up when they say, do high quality work for a fair and reasonable price. They may be very busy and can't get to you right away. If so, you will know that up front and it is well worth any wait that you may have. One other item on my to do list is roof replacement. I have some life left on it, but will definitely have the Rain-Go crew back when it is time
They did a fabulous job! My house went from being a dump to a jewel. It looks like a brand new house on the inside. It only took them 2-3 days to complete this project. I would highly recommend them and I will definitely use them in the future.
The guys showed up on time and were very friendly and professional. They handled the range, which required them to pick it up and carry down a challenging outside stairway. The other junk was collected quickly and safely. I would highly recommend their services.
Very pleased with the work and look. Very satisfied overall. The estimator and supervisor Alex was very attentive, prompt and willing to answer any and all questions I had. The two carpenters in particular who did the majority of the work were excellent. Only complaint is minor as perhaps they could have cleaned up better when work was finished as we found many plastic labels that came off the ends of the new deck boards as well as a few random nails. Again a very minor complaint

What do customers in Raleigh say about Deck Builders?
We were looking for professionalism and good attitudes when we were shopping around for a deck builder. Our old deck had been demo'd to allow a major waterproofing project, and we literally didn't even have stairs outside the back door. Mr. Weiker came out in person, and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He heard our needs, and designed a deck on our sloping property that was creative and was a super use of space. The work itself was done incredibly fast! The large deck was built of very nice wood, and the steps and lattice work were lovely. They had even beveled the top rail stylishly, which was an unexpected, pleasant surprise. We've had so many compliments on the deck, and couldn't be happier! We're still loving our deck!
