Joseph Ketner Construction

In the spring of 2014 I researched companies to remedy a water leak issue. After talking to several companies who all basically confirmed that the exterior siding needed to be totally removed and replaced, I chose Joseph Ketner for the job. He is a small local company that is knowledgeable about every aspect from materials to workmanship. He is easy going and does not push the homeowners to buy or do any more work than necessary. We decided to add several windows, insulate, and paint, in addition to the initial job. We have be extremely happy with the entire process as well as the results. He is a very easy-going young man to work with. He has a great relationship with his small crew, and at the same time advocates for the homeowner. I believe he goes above and beyond any customers expectations.

Phase 3 ($1921.63) involved selecting and installing Graber Traditions Wood Blinds in six master bedroom suite windows with wood valances to maximize light control and access to the views, yet provide adequate window insulation. The work was completed in September 2007. Phase 4 ($1278.92) involved selecting and installing five light-filtering wood shades for a master bathroom suite and a guest bathroom to enhance the d?cor while preserving natural light and visual access to multiple views. The work was completed in October 2007. Dale was wonderful to work with throughout all phases of these projects. He is extremely professional, very patient to find just the right colors and solutions for our rooms, and a meticulous installer. He also helped to arrange financing so that we could afford the blinds that really were the best choices for our home.

ALL WEATHER HOME REMODELING

We had them come out and give us an estimate, after we stopped by their showroom on Freemont in NE Portland to look at window designs. They were on time for all appointments they made with us, and the installation crews were very courteous. The person who did the estimate was very thorough, and asked many questions to help us make decisions about what we wanted. He walked us through the steps that would happen on the day of construction, and came with the insulation blowing team to identify any areas of concern. He showed us several places that we could/should look to ensure that insulation didn't enter the back of built-in cabinets and such. They did a great job insulating, paying attention to problem areas above and below windows, in the eaves and above our finished attic.

Installers were a little late due to completing work on a previous job. They laid plastic on the floors and carpet, brought the hose to blow the insulation through the bedroom window, laying plastic on the bed to protect it. They installed batts around the attic entrance and the furnace and wrapped the solar tubes in batts. Insulation was blown in the remainder of the attic. Clean-up was prompt and seemed thorough. The job took about 1 hour to complete.

They did a good job. It is warmer in those rooms now. Its messy to do it but they cleaned up the best they could and even cleaned some areas that I was working on. We did some major remodeling in in our home and I was cleaning around some windows and they vacuumed up my mess too.

They arrived on the day scheduled and worked for several hours on the job. They kept our house clean and pumped insulation through a second story window. We hope to see some decrease in our heating bill.

Taseca Weatherization

Jon came to look over my house and gave me a list of items I could do to improve my energy efficiency. He allowed me to pick the items I wanted to do off the list, and he was patient with me while I changed my mind several times, always providing me with new estimates and photo mock-ups that showed what the new windows would look like on my house. Taseca had the best prices of all the window installers who gave me bids. Jon's sales method seems to be telling the customer what needs to be done with a realistic explanation of the priorities and importance of each item. He didn't push the sale, and he even advised me against certain upgrades that he didn't think would give me a good return on investment. The installation crew was punctual and polite and hard working. They identified a problem with my front door that they offered to fix pretty much for pennies. The windows are beautiful.

Recent Review: Selecting A Cut Above Exteriors to renovate the exterior of our home was the best decision we could have made. We had old vinyl siding on top of lead-painted lap siding, several vinyl windows with broken seals, and desperately needed a new front door. The team at ACAE was amazing to work with right from the start. Bill was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the project, and his bid was thoroughly explained, transparent, and well presented. Our project manager Randy, was fantastic; knowledgeable, professional, incredibly responsive with excellent communication every step of the way, and just an all around great guy to work with. I work at home, so I had the unique experience of being in the house for the entire remodel. This afforded me the opportunity to watch and learn throughout the whole process, observing the skills and amazing work ethic of the construction team who took such pride in their work, was respectful of my property and neighbors, and who cleaned up after themselves every single day. The teams at ACAE are serious professionals who exceeded our expectations in every way. The final results were truly amazing, our house looks gorgeous, and we are so impressed with the overall quality of the work and professionalism of every person we worked with. I cannot recommend A Cut Above Exteriors highly enough!

Recent Review: They are still working. They were here yesterday, today and probably tomorrow. Give them A for awesome. They are doing great. They cover everything. They clean up everything. They are just putting the windows in so I don't know how good they'll be till I've lived with them. They look beautiful. They look A, awesome. I would say they are installing great quality windows. When I have asked them to help me get the shades off the window that I can't get off, they take them down. They cover everything up so I would recommend them to anybody.

Recent Review: My wife and I initially had thought we would just be removing our vinyl siding and repairing the wood siding underneath on our 1910 home, but we had a lot of problems revealed as each layer came down. We ended up adding studs, replacing the structural sheathing, adding new insulation, jacking the enclosed rear porch to replace support posts, tearing down and building a new front porch, replacing the windows and exterior doors, putting on all new siding, and some other associated work. I was initially hesitant about the time and materials contracts they utilize, but for an open-ended project like ours it made sense as we didn't have exact plans to go off of. That makes it difficult to budget and may not be for everyone, but it worked out fine for us. Landon was our project supervisor and he was absolutely amazing to work with. Always prompt, communicative, and responsive, and the crew were all respectful and professional. I am especially impressed with the attention to detail. We bought an old house for the character and I'm a stickler for the little stuff, and Landon was very patient and helpful and was able to turn my vision into reality with basically nothing to go off other than a little sketch and a few downloaded pictures and my descriptions of what I was looking to do and always went over all of our options to make sure we were happy with what they were going to do for us. We may have other projects in the future like a bathroom remodel and a major addition (we will have actual plans drawn up for that) and SFW will be the first ones we will be calling. Hopefully Landon is still with them at that point because he helped take the stress out of the whole process. The office was great too and always easy to get in touch with and sent daily updates and regular itemized invoices that we were able to easily pay online. SFW uses a separate crew for painting and our only negative is that we never heard back from them about scheduling a quote and we tried to request it several times and we've since moved on. If you are okay with the time and materials contracts, then I highly recommend them. We've had many compliments from other professionals about how impressed they are with the work. Work was completed about 6 months ago and we are still very happy with it.

Recent Review: Originally hired for insulation, they had the highest bid, but i liked that they are a local, family run business. Took time to explain everything & helped troubleshoot another problem i had with heating. Work was done on time and left all areas clean. David and his son, who did the insulation, went above & beyond. Decided to have them do annual furnace maintenance as well; the fee is very reasonable.

Business Description: Hello, I would like to introduce myself. I'm Dan Muir, born and raised in Portland Oregon. Recent Review: Once work actually started it went well. The only real issue was that they weren't available to start the project until December (pushed back from November) and I had contacted them and got the bid in August. I only graded as good since it was a garage remodel it didn't need to be the most pristine job so there were a few details that were still left very rough when the job was done. I had considered adding on some more work as a change order but due to scheduling it would have been a while before we could have had it done.
