I heard about John Hernandez from a friend who had similar work done. I checked him out on Angie's List as well as other resources and his company had really positive reviews. I called and John came out the same day, sent a bid the next day and was able to start work the following Monday. His crew, consisting of his son and another young man, showed up on time, covered everything in the area of the basement they would be working in with plastic, and set to work. It took them 3 days to jackhammer and dig out the old, corroded sewer pipes, another day to lay the new piping, cover it back up and re-cement the floor. John also replaced my older and suddenly leaky water heater, plus he installed a point-of-service water heater tank in my upstairs bathroom. (And now I get instant hot water there instead of wasting many gallons waiting for the hot water to climb from the basement. So wonderful!) On top of that, he replaced a water line, the clothes washer faucets and another outside faucet. He came back twice to finish the work. I can't say enough about John and his crew. They were friendly, responsive, efficient, and did a very good job, including sweeping up after themselves. John is such a nice guy and he knows what he's doing. He was patient and willing to come back to make everything work correctly. He answered his phone and responded to emails. Price-wise, the cost was right in line with other bids. The estimate was concise, and John did not overcharge for the extras he provided. He was happy to add other small repairs to the job and did the work with a willing attitude. Can't ask for more. I will say that anyone getting this work done is going to have a house full of cement dust, no matter that you cover things and keep doors closed. I hired a housecleaning service for that but still have to clean the basement up myself. That's just an FYI side note and nothing to do with John and his company. It's a messy job.
