A Neighbor had used them for a fence, contacted them for a fence and porch railing project. They had a late start - but I understand, it 's peak season. Their work was very good, they stayed on budget and did a fantastic job. Recommend them.

We contacted 4 contractors to bid the job, Dietz was quick to come out to bid (within a day or two of initial phone call). After receiving all bids, we felt confident choosing Dietz because the price was reasonable and he seemed knowledgeable and professional. They were able to start work Tuesday of the following week and finished within 2 days. We are very happy with the quality of the work provided. Not only was the work good, it came in under bid! We would definitely use Dietz Home Improvements again.

Met with Randy to review work requested to replace rotted boards on front porch railing. He offered another (better) solution, using one long continuous rail cap rather than replace three short pieces. I then decided to replace the remaining potion of he railing to improve the overall appearance. When the desired lumber was not available on the initial date for the work, Randy suggested postponement and I agreed. He then completed the project as scheduled and overall results are good. He also removed an unwanted railing along the walkway. Work was completed in one day and cleanup was excellent.

Shaun and his helper did a wonderful job in completing both jobs. They were punctual, efficient, did quality work and cleaned up after themselves! After all that, they also came in under estimate.

The bid process went very smoothly with Shane walking us thru choices and sending a prompt bid via email. Installation was a full day of work for two men and they seemed rushed to finish at the end. During the day they used our garage (with our permission) but smoked and played music in there. At the end of the day, as we checked over the install, we encouraged them to add another support to the hand rail since they had to extend it further than planned to in order to anchor it in a stud. Pencil marks were left on our walls at every place where the rails were attached to the wall - we didn't notice that until after they left. Several weeks later we found that 1 hand rail and 2 toe kicks had not been anchored into the wall but temporarily attached with nails. We had Shane back to remedy that. He even came on the weekend to fix the mistake. If we had it to do again, my husband would do it himself. The cost and quality of their work are the primary reasons.

Autumn works had to restore and use what is present so as not to simply tear down and replace. He respectfully listened to what we wanted and didn't want, with no pressure to "do more" on any projects. He worked efficiently to replace what was essential and cleaned the sight very well, recycling whatever he could. Autumn responded quickly to my request to remove his power tools from the porch railing. He even repainted the railing without my knowing it, and at no charge! We love being able to see the sky and won't worry about the patio cover this winter when the strong East winds begin blowing again.

With less than a week's notice, Pat did both handrails. They are rock-solid and both exactly what we wanted. The rail on the front of the house matches perfect with the exisiting deck, and the rail in the garage is simple, and sturdy. We are very happy with his professionalism. He was a pleasure to work with, and I'd hire him again for any other handyman jobs!

Ron Wackerly Construction

I was very pleased with Ron! He was prompt, there was hardly any wait to get the work done, the price was lower than expected and the work took the amt of time he expected. The moudling on the porch looks great- as does the repairs to the column, and the hand rail is now sturdier. I would definitely call Ron again! My only complaint is that my lillies got trampled in the process- but they were right in the area he needed to be in to do the work, so it would have been hard to avoid them.

We needed a new stair railing. Robert showed and discussed with us the railings and balusters that would befit our craftsman style home. He then walked us through selecting the arrangement of the railing and balusters within our existing staircase. Primo kept us updated on approximate costs we were incurring. Half way through the project, I decided that since Robert was over with his saw, I would have him change a damaged basement pillar, which was supporting the main structural beam. The whole job came in close to $1,000 below budget.

DAVID MCGEE CONTRACT SERVICES LLC

Called Monday for work that needed to be done Thursday (quick turnaround). David was thorough over the phone and able to fit in our project within our deadline. Day of work he showed up on time and ready to get started. We reviewed the project, took some measurements, and David offered a few different options for building the railing. His colleague Phil showed up a half hour later with materials and equipment to perform the work. David left for another job while Phil started building the railing. Installed a 4x4 post at bottom of stair, attached to concrete floor with metal clip and bolted to side of stair stringer. Installed 2x4 on side of stringer, and a 2x4 on the underside of floor joists. Filled in guard rail area top to bottom with 2x2 cedar posts. Installed handrail with brackets parallel to stair slope. We needed the project completed in one day. Phil worked late into the evening (7pm-ish) to ensure the project was completed by our deadline. David and Phil were very friendly, considerate, and professional. When we are ready to do a full basement remodel - egress windows, bathroom, bedroom, etc - they will be the first people I call. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

Lo's Contracting, Inc.

I can't thank Amadou Lo and his crew enough for the wonderful job they did for me. I was really in a bad situation and they helped me immediately. My new insurance company threatened to cancel my house insurance because I didn't have a handrail or guardrail around my porch. Who knew? After contacting numerous companies in mid-summer, no one was available immediately to get the work done. I literally had two weeks to complete the work. My old contractor told me about Lo's Contracting and highly recommended them. (They have a great rating under drywall on Angies List.) I called right away and Amadou came over that evening. He gave me a bid for the cement work and finished carpentry that night and told me he would slide my work in-between two jobs and get the work done on time. HE GOT IT DONE A WEEK EARLIER! The men reported for work the next day, did the demolition and cleaned up everything. The next day the concrete forms were put in. The following day the cement was poured. All of this work I might add, was done during our recent wave of hot weather. No complaints, no excuses, just very hard work. They built the railing by hand and designed it as well. It perfectly matches my 1921 bungalow. They worked many hours straight to get this accomplished, many times until 8 pm at night. The finished rails are beautiful. My porch looks like it's out of a Bungalow House magazine. The crew was outstanding; VERY PROFESSIONAL, VERY POLITE, VERY SWEET. Two little neighborhood boys watched them work most days and the crew was very nice to them, allowing them to "help" by handing them nails. Amadou promised he would get the work done and he did, promptly, on time and right on budget. In addition, as a thank you for hiring his company for the work, his crew powerwashed my house, sidewalk and driveway. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

The project took quite a bit longer than expected (about a month) but Jeremy was good about keeping us informed on what was going on. The finished result is very nice. He really did a nice job matching the new rails and gates to the existing rail. The estimate he gave us was quite low, with the actual cost being $500 more than the estimate. Otherwise, we are happy with the experience.

Ed Gause Construction

Ed returned my call and set an appointment for the same day. Ed arrived on time and advised what could/should be done to improve the stability and safety of the deck. Ed furnished an estimate that day and performed the work the next morning. Ed purchased the materials and pre-cut the bracing before coming to the house. Ed and his assistant installed the braces and secured the railing within a couple of hours. Ed is a friendly professional and answered all my questions before and during the installation. I recommend Ed without reservation and would use him again.

He was very conscience about the costs of materials, etc. and gave us a quote. He came out on a really hot day and was working and then came back the next day. He finished everything then. He made the railings and they are beautiful. They really added beauty to my home. I was so pleased with everything.

Recent Review: We own a 1910 "Old Portland" style foursquare home in Uptown Vancouver and hired A-1 Paint Removal Painting and Restoration to strip layers and layers of paint from it so that new paint would once again adhere. A three year-old paint job was failing already and we wanted to create a clean canvas for the new paint that would last a long time. Richie and his crew did an amazing job of stripping the paint using heat guns and scrapers. Each area worked on was tarped and contained as is best practices when working with old lead-based paint. The crew arrived on time every morning and worked diligently to complete the job in 6 days. If you own a historic home, skilled paint preparation like this is important to maintain its beauty and value. We recommend A-1 Paint Removal without reservation and would definitely hire them again!

Recent Review: The company was very thorough when measuring the site, explaining alternatives and getting in touch with me quickly with questions I had. After explaining what I wanted Max wrote up a plan and estimate for the work and emailed me the bid. The bid was very competitive and he was very detailed with all aspects of the bids. He asked about disposal of debris, bathroom facilities, etc.. He gave a date he would be available and scheduled the work. Max showed up on date promised, started work and completed the project in 3 days. I was impressed with the safety precautions i.e..safety glasses, marker cones around the trailer on the street and general safety practices. He was extremely professional and cleaned the site well after work was complete. I paid agreed upon fee for materials the date he started work and balance in the end (50%) when job was complete. It was very well done and very professional.

Recent Review: I talked to Sam at 10am and we had an appointment for 2pm the same day. He came on time asked me what I wanted and needed. I told him that I needed a new fence and gate to secure my home and my pets. I also told him that I wanted something that lasted a long time but was also nice to look at. With his recommendation, I decided I wanted an iron gate that will be both secure and give my home curb appeal (which I've been told has raised the value of my home by at least 20%). We also talked about how to have a more durable fence that provided more privacy. His solution, iron fence with ornamental iron works and with plastic sheeting at the bottom. From start to finish, our new fence and gate was projected to be completed in 4 weeks. Eiffelfab, LLC finished it in 2 weeks! Their work is impeccable! We now have a new project, a remodeling my home! From structural repairs, painting and planning to reconfigure our kitchen with new granite counters! The updates are great to look at and most of all more functional for our family's needs. From start to finish, EIffelfab delivers what they promise! Give them a call today!

They were responsive to questions that popped up along the way and offered great (and cost effective!) solutions. We couldn't be more pleased by the way it all turned out. Highly recommend!

What do customers in Portland say about Install Porch Railings?

Wil did a fantastic job building and installing railings for the front steps going up to our porch. Not only was the quality of the work great, but he was very helpful in the planning process. I was not sure exactly what I wanted the railings to look like, so Wil did some research on different railing designs and emailed me sample pictures. Once I had decided on a design picked out, he priced out the materials and labor, which came out lower than I had been anticipating. Wil was very responsive through the whole process and I would highly recommend him. He will definitely be the person I call next time I need any handyman or light construction work done.
