Reviews in Portland to Install Interior Trim & Decorative Molding

This was our fist major remodel project. Crazy, unknown problems surface nearly everyday. Throughout the project, Paul and his team remained kind, direct, and prepared with solutions. I honestly can not imagine having a better experience. All of the work was done swiftly, and it's well built. We love our kitchen. We have this white cat that stays indoors due to a surgery he had. He is always getting out, and is impossible to catch. Somehow Paul made it through the whole remodel without letting the cat out. I think he even caught the cat once for us.

Jay and his team were punctual when meeting to review work and provide an estimate and they showed up on time. The project took several days, but was minimally intrusive, although they, of course, needed to work both inside and out to replace trim molding. They cleaned up after themselves everyday. The craftsmanship was outstanding. The house was definitely challenging as none of the window openings were square. Windows fit well and carpentry for trim is excellent. The work was done over 4 years ago, and has held up extremely well.

Neil Kelly Company
The dormer window was replaced due to dry rot and the contractors who did that job do not do painting. The window was at the top of a two story entry way and I did not have any way to get to it. The handyman from Neil Kelly did a good job. He masked the window first and he did the primer and final coat in two separate visits. This added up to much more money than it was worth, especially since we later decided to repaint the entire entryway.

Jon Erickson Construction Services LLC
Jon and his son did a great job, showed up everyday when they said they would. Cleaned up at end of day. Quality plus work, Jon ordered all the new trim and doors. There was hardly any waste, his ordering material was right on. Very pleasant to have in your house and has a lot of good ideas. Jon and his son finished on time The price we felt was very fair.

Lex Construction
He was professional and personable from the get-go. He was a good problem solver and communicated several options and discussed the best approach to the work, including a fair cost/benefit point of view. He was punctual, started and finished the job on schedule and stuck to the budget he committed to. He sent pictures of progress throughout and asked questions when needed. I always felt like I knew where things stood and that Mike would be honest about anything that came up. Great guy to work with, great quality of work and fair price for what he delivers.

Classic Sash & Door Company
From the beginning of the project, it was clear that Kevin, Jeremy and his crew have a deep commitment to the quality of their work when restoring and repairing Portland s old homes. We live in a 1910 Bungalow in SE Portland that had been, well, saddled with aluminum siding in the 1960 s. During that installation, the house s original windows were whacked to allow for the siding to fit, and it ruined the window trim and molding along with hiding the windows behind storm windows. Classic designed and installed new windows that matched precisely the original look of the windows. They also cut back the aluminum siding so they could place the new windows in their proper alignment against the house s original siding. Classic Sash and Door s craftsmanship was superb, as too was their attention to detail. Portland is fortunate to have professionals, such as Kevin, Jeremy, and their crews, who demonstrate such care and appreciation for our splendid old homes. We have many friends who own old homes, and we ve recommended Classic to all of them.

Schedule had to be changed a couple of times as they were so busy, but people were friendly and courteous and managed to reschedule each time.

Paul Cottle Construction LLC
It all went very well and Paul is very easy to work with. I had estimates done my Paul Cottle Construction and two other companies that i found on Angie's List. What i liked about Paul was his commitment to his craft and his 30 years of experience. He was thorough and to the point during the estimate. And because his price quote was comparable to the others we moved forward with Paul. His two workers did a fantastic job! They were professional and pleasant to see everyday. Also Paul was there often checking on the job and called me often to keep me on the same page. I am very please with the work we had done. The Milgard windows look great and trim was done exactly as i wanted. I am currently looking to do some additional work on the house and am confident that Paul and his team will do another great job! I'd definitely recommend Paul Cottle Construction!

Mark was an essential part of the planning and construction of our $1M home. I am an experienced woodworker and have done numerous remodeling projects, but this was my first time serving as general contractor. Mark is a former contractor and is familiar with all phases of construction and remodeling; more than that, he is a true artisan in wood and has achieved serious recognition for his work in Oregon. His help in the planning stages was timely and helped save time and money. He helped keep an eye on the framing crews work, co-ordination for the finish work to follow. He led the framing and finish crews of up to 4 workers and was instrumental in setting the highest possible standards. I recommend Mark in the highest terms for projects that put the emphasis on creativity and quality. He did not bid complete jobs, preferring to charge a modest hourly rate.

Evolution Home Improvement
Jim and his team At Evolution are punctual, polite, articulate and trustworthy, with excellent quality work. I used Jim extensively since 2015 no job was too small and always of the highest quality, even when Jim wasnt the man for the job rather than take my money and do poor quality work he made solid recommendations that worked out perfectly. I cannot recommend Jim and Evolution highly enough for your general contractor and handyman needs both indoors and out.

Recent Review: Upon moving into our new residence we had to repaint and do the wallpaper in the entire house. The company that we initially hired thru the Angie's list completely failed the project. We were desperate with not not many options available because nobody is willing or capable to re-do the job. Thankfully, the manager of the local Sherwin-Williams store recommended me to contact Judy at Wallpaper Lady and More. That was a blessing!!! Overall, Judy and her son Tim did an outstanding job with wallpaper, painting, and installing crown and base moldings throughout the house. The price was more than fair, they were always punctual, efficient with no down time, clean, and completed the project exactly when they said they would. Most importantly, while fixing the deficiencies of the other painting co (which is a huge challenge), they came up with creative AND cost-effective solutions. Their goal to make client happy was definitely achieved.

Recent Review: He hires another contractor to do the stain and finish work. He does the install. This guy is a master craftsman. He does beautiful work and some of the most difficult installs. Mine was very straight forward. He is an honest and upstanding man who gives back to the community. Basically, I'm happy but here are my concerns. You need to judge your own situation. I think he is set up more for new construction then remodel work, at least small ones like mine. He couldn't just come in and do everything that needed to be done as had to wait for other pieces to finish. He didn't want to come over multiple times as said it was too time consuming and expensive to come over for just a couple hours work. So things dragged on. Made lots of mess with poor clean up. Again, I think it is because he is used to new construction where he just does his part and others coming in after him. Even though he is expensive because he does excellent work, he is very busy.
Business Description: We custom match wood trim moldings for base trim, crown moldings, moldings for around doors and windows, tongue and groove moldings, along with many more styles and applications. The wood trim molding replications can be both short runs of original hard-to-find moldings or long runs or entire homes or offices. Old style moldings are not a challenge for us. By using a pattern authentication process, we digitize the pattern and then make knives in the shape of the pattern.

Business Description: 2 to 4 independent subcontractors

Recent Review: Before meeting with Ron Dimmitt, we obtained several other estimates for replacement windows and installation. Ron's recommended window suggestions for our home was not only the best solution but also much less than all other estimates making it a very affordable solution. Of course, first thing was to measure for the windows, which was precisely done in order to get a perfect fit. Windows (and two patio sliding doors) were ordered and delivered to our home. They were here the next day to install. Old windows were removed, hauled away, new windows and doors were installed. Then, both exterior and interior trim was replaced. All workmanship was superb...everything from carpentry to the caulking. Some of the door and window openings were not level from the house settling some, so we were very pleased to have an experienced contractor who knows how to deal with all construction issues. Love the new windows, but even more, the excellence of the installation. Happy campers here!

Business Description: Owner operated. No subs. Cost is determined by the job. Travel charges may apply. No extra charge for after-hours service.
