We originally tried to use North West Metal Building in Hillsboro a subcontractor of West Coast Metal Buildings. We ordered via the web and put down $95 using Paypal and our Discover Card on Sept 20th 2013, in early December we received a phone call from West Coast asking if we still wanted our carport? (West Coast is the manufacturer) they told us that North West Metal Buildings hadn't turned our order into them until mid October at which time it was past the end date of the 10% off. They told us that at that time NW Metal Buildings cancelled our order. They were calling to see if we still wanted a carport built. We tried and tried to get out down payment back from NW Metal Buildings; finally succeeded by putting in a complaint with Discover Card.West Coast Metal Building followed up with us after North West Metal Buildings tried to rip us off. West Coast offered us the original 10% off our carport and rushed our order through; they helped make a nightmare turn into a really nice carport for my boat!!! I'd recommend West Coast Metal Buildings to anyone that needs a carport or building. t

the installation went OK, but after the injstall I found that I was advised badly by their agent, verbally told I did not need a permit. Well, I did, so I tried to work with the company to get a set of plans made. They went farther than any company I have ever seen to obfuscate, ignore, and generally avoid any semblence of responsibility or even willingness to work with me. They demanded a measurement (live snow load) that is nonsensical in a carport and refused to move until I could provide this nonexistant data. So I have pretty much been told to go away. DON'T USE THEM!!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

Mike was unprofessional. He worked on his own schedule, left a very messy job site, was unsure of the supplies he needed, subsequently we had to run and get supplies for him to keep him working. A verbal agreement was made to include painting of this structure which he did not honor. He left after asking for more money to complete the job and when we refused, he packed his truck leaving a mess for us to clean up. We would never recommend him for any job.

I noticed that this company was installing garage doors for Mountain Park, so I called them to estimate my job. The price was reasonable compared to other companies I called and they installed the door in a difficult setting, where minimum operating room existed in an old carport converted to a garage. The door works perfectly and this company stuck to their bid price.

Initially very polite and professional, but was unable to pull together sub contractors and get permits. Waited several months and endured many false start dates before I decided to stop pursuing the project with this contractor.

Parker building made the bid to build. They delivered as promised at the price quoted. The personnels were friendly and helpful throughout the process, and left me with a well constructed and beautiful building in the time promised. I recommend them to anyone and would call Parker Building first in the event that I needed a building in the future.

De Marco Builders Inc

Joe DeMarco and his incredibly dedicated crew of craftsmen built a shed and gazebo for the Peninsula Optimist Club, a non-profit that I serve and support, in North Portland. He generously performed the work at cost and went above and beyond by providing the Club with the highest quality of materials, floor to roof, so that the structure stands for decades to come! Joe did all of this for a program that inspires hope and optimism in local youth programming within the actual community he grew up in, in the neighborhood where he and his wife now reside. Thank you, DeMarco Builders, for investing in our youth! I wanted a similar shed built on our property on the Clackamas River, but worried that it might be too small of a job to ask DeMarco Construction to take on. Joe did not disappoint! He made sure to listen to what I had in mind and allowed me to be a part of the design conversation. Let me rephrase that - the owner of the company communicated directly with me about my vision for our project! Within weeks of firming up the plan, materials were delivered and Diego, one of DeMarco Construction’s crew leaders, and his carpenters showed up bright and early one morning last month and two and a half days later, my 11’x18’ storage shed was built and ready to fill!! Like the one he built for the Peninsula Optimist Club, I expect this one to stand against the elements of the Clackamas River for, at least, the rest of my life.

Great advice, choice. Showed up on time, impressive skill and a perfect install in a somewhat challengingly tight space.

Mr Francisco completed three project for us in two different time frames. All of his work was outstanding in every respect. He removed our old deck beams/support posts, a portion of the carport and provided several innovative design recommendations resulting in significantly improved and aesthetically pleasing product. Francisco's woodworking and carpentry skills are very impressive. The finish work on each project is of the highest quality. We were also very impressed with the high grade of tools he brought to the job. All work was completed on time and with through, daily snd final site cleanup. We feel the project costs were competitive, fair and reasonable. We would not hesitate to employ Francisco's skills on any further projects we may pursue. He certainly did an A+ on every aspect of our projects.

Recent Review: We had several other local builders out to discuss our vision, provide input on our design ideas and provide alternatives to meet our objectives. This included Angies's list A rated builders and even a custom Timber Frame company out of the Sun River area. In the end our experience was that most didn't really have much of an opinion and/or didn't demonstrate the slightest bit of confidence in giving us what we were looking for. Money wasn't really an issue, what we wanted was a specific kind of design and it was amazing that we couldn't seem to find someone with some creative vision to get us moving in the right direction. Dave was one of the last builders we had come out and before he even arrived we took a look at his website and saw in his gallery of previous work a project that look very close to what we were looking for. After spending an hour or so reviewing with him our goals he instilled a tremendous amount of confidence and seemed to know exactly what we were looking for. Finally, someone understood us. His team broke ground the next week, cutting concrete and prepping the site. Dave is meticulous in his planning. He had all aspects of the project in the air at the same time. The size of this carport and the fact that it would be free standing dictated some serious overkill to both support the weight and ensure it didn't become a kite in the wind. The size of the custom steel posts and size of the holes being dug was impressive. over the next 3 weeks the team was welcome daily site at our home and the guys were awesome. The whole team seemed like family by the end of the project and we kind of missed the activity of having them around. One point of the project sticks in my mind and I've repeated it to friends when showing off the work. One afternoon the crew was assembling the trusses with the steel brackets. They had to cut 5 consistent trusses from massive beams, each with numerous cross member and the first needed to provide the template for the rest. The guys had the beams all layed out measuring and marking and rechecking and remeasuring finally getting the beams into position to begin attaching them together. Just at that time Dave pulls up in his truck and walks over, takes one look and barks out some numbers, the lead stops what he is doing walks over and pulls out his measuring tape. Dave didn't have any paper in his hand or any other reference material and just starts asking his crew to measure each beam length, at every measurement his team was dead on. Suffice to say I didn't worry about much of anything after that. The crew is top notch. Lastly, about a week before the final roofing material went on and the Masonry crew arrive to brick in our supports, which turned out amazing and match the rest of the house like they had always been there, an 80 Oak tree fell on the opposite side of the house. We solicited Dave to do the additional repair work required by that even which included complete siding tear off and a complete reroof. As with the completed carport the outcome was outstanding. We drive up to our new home and cannot believe the amazing transformation. Bottom line for us is we needed a builder with vision, a strong track record and someone we felt we could trust. Dave is a Master Builder and before meeting him or seeing his work I'll be honest I'm not really sure what that meant other than additional training and skill. If asked today it would be a factor in choosing any builder we hire in the future but as long as Dave and his team are around there really won't be a need to look any further.

Recent Review: They were very professional and just listened to what we wanted as far as an addition on our house and gave us some suggestions on what would be an easier place to put an addition on. Then he sent us an estimate within a week, breaking down every single cost, which was nice.

Recent Review: We had decided to downsize in November 2009. At that point we started to look for property to build a smaller, energy efficient, "never to move again" home. After several months, we realized building a new home would not really work for us--we couldn't find the right piece of property and the building costs seemed to be beyond our budget. We then started looking at an existing home but couldn't find the right combination of setting and house. Then we found a house in a neighborhood we loved but the house would require extensive remodeling. We set about looking for a contractor who could help us make it happen and after getting bids from five different contractors, we settled on a choice that came from Angie's list and was within our budget. Our contractor recommended Pat Sauer with whom he had worked before. We were very pleased with Pat's work style, professionalism, and creativeness. She was able to complete her work without any undue delay and had a working relationship established with the structural engineer. The plans were submitted for the city approval and there were no hitches with their approval. As said above, she also had an established relationship with our contractor and once the plans were approved, work began immediately. We are thoroughly pleased with all of the work Pat did in helping us realize a dream home for us.

Recent Review: Hamish was punctual and professional throughout the process. He created this structure from my very unprofessional drawings and it looks just like we hoped. He took care of purchasing just what was needed and having it delivered on time. His assistant also did a great job. The building is solidly and squarely built, has been dry inside throughout our rainy winter, and looks terrific.

Recent Review: Do to the type of door I asked to have on onsite estimate. Rob was very prompt in setting up an appointment to look at my project. He arrived ontime and was easy to work with. He took his time and looked at everything carefully before making his suggestions. He said he would get me a proposal by email the next day. I waited a couple of days and then called as I had not recieved the proposal, he said he would get it out to me right away, I had to wait several more days before it finally arrived. I had other quotes but I liked his approach to the project, despite having to wait extra time for the proposal. His team arrived right on time and got straight to work, They were both friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. The install went very well and they made sure I fully understood how things worked. They cleaned up after themselves well. I was very pleased with the finished product.

Recent Review: The building of our home went well. Pre-building was the most challenging part, and that’s where this company stands out. We had land under contract in Silverton and nothing was happening. Of course the various entities who needed to sign off on a building permit and loan were all weighing in, and the work needed was slowly happening. But I had never imagined that just getting started would take so long, and it was sort of infuriating at times. Jim reassured us and focused on what we could control. Jim met with us periodically as we went over modifications to the house plan we’d found to make it semi-custom. We continued to discuss costs and ways to decrease costs and/or improve the end result. Since we were living with extended family 35 minutes away, going to Silverton was out of our way, as was Mulino. Jim always came to us to talk, which made the project feel more like a collaborative effort instead of a mere business arrangement. Jim wisely recommended that we spend time on our land even if "nothing" was happening. He suggested camping there, going sledding when snow fell, and pointed out the many features our site afforded us. I figured nothing was ever going to work out since progress was at a glacial pace. But we did slowly try his suggestions, and it helped us get through the waiting phase. Besides caring about our overall experience, I also appreciated that Jim advised us on all of our decisions, but he left it up to us instead of making it about him. We know he didn’t always love what we chose, but he did find a way to be positive about it and support us. We certainly ran into obstacles, and Jim found solutions. He went to bat for us on some big and small issues with the county, the bids from subs, the availability of materials, etc. This could have put us on an emotional roller coaster, but he didn’t pass the anxiety and concern onto us unless he had to. That buffer decreased the stress of home-building significantly. I was a little surprised at first that he tended to be late to meetings. But like anyone attending closely to the details and caring about people, he had good reason to be late as he had other projects going. We learned to adjust for the Jim time zone, and we were never disappointed. When he was with us, we had his full attention. The one item on our wishlist that we never fully got ahold of was a timeline showing us when to expect certain decisions. Most of the time, this wasn’t a problem, and it got better as the process went forward. I think we figured out that with some plans you can’t spell out a timeline; you just have to roll with it. We love our new home, and we are working with Jim still as we finish the upstairs and basement. We plan to build a barn with him as well. This company doesn’t need a slogan (or even this review—word of mouth keeps them plenty busy), but I made one up: “Build your dream home with us and live happily Bever after.” (Thank goodness they don’t need marketing help!)

Recent Review: Robert did an amazing job! Starting with excavation, and all through finishing the barn, he truly went above and beyond to address the difficult terrain, narrow access to the building site, weather conditions (we started building in the winter), and most importantly, my frequent plan modifications. Robert not only built my truly beautiful barn, he also organized and helped me with other jobs (fence, retaining wall etc), advised me and took care of everything to make sure the building process went as smoothly as possible. Out of all the professionals I dealt with during this build (plumbing, electrical, painting), Robert is the only one I encountered no issues with. He is also punctual, keeps the timelines, explains the job and cost adequately and charges fairly. I would recommend Robert highly, he will do an amazing job and you will be in good hands.
