Isbir Construction & Landscape Corp

We recently created a grassy area (approx. 60 x 80 feet) that needed some landscaping to finish it. Mike Isbir came out to look at the site and together we decided on what should be done. Mike came back with an estimate and a detailed drawing of the job. We agreed on the work but said it had to be completed by September 14th - we were hosting a party on the area. He assured us it would be. The week before our deadline, his crew showed up and completed the work over a two day period. We made a change in the design before the work was started, but because he was able to use some materials we had on hand, the additional cost was minimal. We were very pleaded with the result.

Cullen's crew were very professional and prompt. He had to take out a previous retaining wall that I had installed just 2 years prior andt completely fell over. The job was complicated and required his crew to work in very closed and narrow spaces. They got the job done in about a 2 week timeframe which was great, considering the weather at this time of year. I am very proud of the finished product. It complements the existing stone work around my property and also the brick on my house. I would definitely hire these guys again!!

I emailed the company and they got right back to me, even though it was a weekend. I told them that we had a lawn in the back that was continually destroyed because of our three dogs. We needed a solution that would be easy on the dogs' feet and fix the drainage problem, Paul Kimicata suggested pea gravel. Within a week he was at the house and gave us estimates for both a driveway and for filling in part of the backyard with gravel. This required hauling the gravel up the equivalent of two floors of stairs because we have no driveway. On the day scheduled 5 or 6 guys showed up--the were professional and very quick. I was told that it would take several days but when I got home it was all completed. Unfortunately, it was the wrong kind of gravel and so it has been extremely bad for my dogs legs and feet. Also, they were supposed to dig out three to four inches to keep the pea gravel in place, instead they just put the fabric on top and then the large gravel and so it continually falls down, I let it go because I was late for work and thought the gravel they provided might work, it's been terrible.

My gravel driveway hadn't been maintained for over 30 years. I asked Steve's crew to excavate out the accumulated mud and grass and replace it with six inches of stone. The driveway now looks beautiful! No more parking in puddles or tracking mud. The workers were attentive and polite. They asked me to inspect at every step in the process to make sure everything was satisfactory. Everything was left tidy and clean. Now that I have a useable driveway, I also asked them to remove an unsightly stone pad in the front yard and replace it with topsoil. I am very pleased with the result and believe it will add the the value of my house. Thanks J&S! A. Houston, Monroeville, PA

All the correct construction methods for a block retaining wall were utilized: gravel bed, gravel backfill, mesh tieback within the gravel tieback. Topsoil was placed on top of the gravel backfill, then mulch. The yard area torn up by equipment was leveled, covered with topsoil, seeded, then topped with mushroom mulch. The only thing I would have done different was the cutting of blocks where partial lengths were required. The crew cut slivers of block next to a full block vs. cutting two blocks to fill the same void. Less than half a block width is not good construction per on my engineering background. All other concerns I had were quickly dealt with by the contractor.

WE HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH STONE AND COMPANY. WE HAVE BOUGHT GRAVEL FROM THEM ABOUT ONCE A YEAR FOR OUR DRIVEWAY. IT IS ALWAYS FUN TO PICK OUT THE KIND OF STONE YOU WANT, AS THEY HAVE SUCH A BIG VARIETY. WE DON'T ALWAYS GET THE SAME KIND.

Recent Review: Wholesale Mulch and Gravel has a nice facility where it is easy to see the various gravels, mulches and manures, each piled in its own bin. The prices are about what other suppliers charge, for the material you purchase but if you ask and are a repeat customer, you can probably get a coupon for a discount. You deal directly with the owner, who has always been there when I have gone. The difference between this and other suppliers that I have tried is the delivery charge. It is lower here and makes a significant difference in the total cost. Delivery is prompt and the material carefully dumped.
