PROFESSIONAL CHIMNEY SWEEPS BY JOHN BAKER
5.0
John Baker is a professional and a gentleman, very patient and explained everything he was doing in detail. He gave our fireplace a full inspection and made sure it was safe to use (we'd recently bought our house and hadn't used it yet). He climbed on the roof to check out the vents and made sure the caps were on securely. He even gave our hot water tank and furnace a look-over and suggested that I move some things away from the hot water tank vent, as there was a chance of starting a fire with keeping things pushed up against it. I would highly recommend calling this company for any fireplace needs.

I would highly recommended Anderson Company to do any fireplace install, cleaning, etc. Ron was very professional from start to finish. He followed up with us three times proactively after meeting with him once. He made time to work around our schedule for an evening to draw up a contract. He came on the day we agreed to and the explanation of product choice was detailed. He worked from the moment he arrived until the job was complete. He was extremely cautious about cleaning up after himself and even vacuumed our basement. 5 stars across the board!

THE FIREPLACE & PATIOPLACE

Called Fireplace & Patio store for service call & had to wait 3 weeks for them to get here. In the meantime had 2 other furnace people look or listen at our problem. Pilot would lite, Burner would not. Ordered parts that they said I should need. Parts took over a week to get here. By then I already pre paid for our service with fireplace & patio so we figured let them look at it also. Well it wasn't the parts we ordered. Now out $275 found out it was just a clogged line.Well at least we have the other parts if they do go bad. Will use Fireplace &Patio again & hope that it doesn't take another 3 weeks.

Called to have a gas fireplace repaired. After a brief description of the problem, told me I would have to buy a new fireplace. WITHOUT EVER SEEING IT!! $5,000 plus labor. Called Firetec and they came out and fixed the problem for less than 10% of what this company wanted from me...and Firetec could not have been more professional and courteous.

They were very honest about where the heat would travel (up the stairs rather than into my living room) when they gave the estimate. I called again a year later and they came to complete the job. Everything was easy and efficient -- thanks!

They came in the morning and covered the floor and all my belongings before they started the work. I didn't hover over them while the work was being done. They called me downstairs a couple of times while they were working. Once to let me know they were going to lunch. Another time to inform me that my gas meter had a leak. (The gas company came to replace the meter.) The last time to tell me that they were done with the work and give me a tutorial on how to operate the remote control. The insert looks beautiful and adds so much to my room. The room was cleaned up, any debris was disposed of and any thing that they had to move was put back into place. I got a follow up call that evening and was told to call if there were any issues. It was overall a good experience.

EXCELLENT! Jason Gunter used to work for a major fireplace and fireplace insert dealer. He serviced and cleaned inserts of various brands for this major company. Now he is independent - his prices are about half of what the other companies charge!!!! I will hire him every year to do my annual cleaning and servicing. If anything goes wrong in between yearly checks, he will be the first person I call for repairs!!!!

Ron was excellent and we would certainly work with him again in the future. He was knowledgable, responsive, and friendly. It was a tricky installation because of limited space in the basement, but Ron made sure the job got done right. We had a minor issue that we noticed a few days after the installation, and Ron was there the next day to fix it. We would certainly recommend Anderson Chimney for fireplace installation.

THE FIREPLACE & PATIOPLACE

We already had a gas line into our log fireplace to ignite logs. We selected a Heat n Glo fireplace insert from The Fireplace and Patioplace store. Someone came and measured our fireplace and gave the final estimate. Three weeks later two men came to install it, a big job (4 hours). Two metal pipes were inserted into our chimney, one for air intake, the other for exhaust. A rain and animal guard was placed at the top of the chimney. Connections were made. The resulting gas fireplace looks lovely and we are toasty warm in the cool evenings. We turn down the household thermostat when we have the fireplace running. We did have a small gas leak in our part of the connection, which Fand P came quickly and fixed. They also gave us another lesson on the remote that controls the fireplace.

FIREPLACE & PATIO PLACE
5.0
I initially called while still living in Virginia to the Cranberry Twp store. I explained that I'd be up there the week of July 4th & that I'd like someone to assess the suitability of running a gas line into the living room for a ventless gas fireplace. They were willing to set this up well in advance. On the day of the appointment the estimator arrived promptly. He assessed the situation & determined that it was indeed feasible for the installation. I already knew I wanted the smallest unit they offer. I called-back the store to place a 1/3 deposit & they directed me to pick a finish for the mantle + if I wanted a remote starter. I then requested an install date about a month in advance, which they were able to comply. On that day, once again, the crew was on-time. A plumber ran the gas line through the attic, down the garage wall & into the back of the living room. The installers assembled the mantle but had to stop. They said the actual gas log or the hearth was damaged. Apparently they received a bad shipment of the model used for my installation. They called to their warehouse about getting a replacement unit, but that led to the discovery of the bad batch of these units. No matter as it was mid-August & over 90. So we arranged a date in mid-September after move-in. The guys arrived on-time, laid down a runner over my brand new carpet & commenced to completing the job. With maybe 40% already in-place, this took maybe 90 minutes. They gave me a quick lesson on how to use the remote and took out any waste/scrap they made from the install. It's still to early to need a fire, but this overall situation seemed to go smoothly. I'm taking it on faith that the unit will function and that the store staff will be available to answer any questions I may have when I do begin to start fires as I may well forget my lesson. But the process of setting-up the appointments needed for the project and obtaining dates that met my schedule went very well. And ironing-out the details of my order also went well. It was a positive experience from start to finish.

Recent Review: Excellent. I was not able to get companies more convenient to me to either return my calls or respond to my emails. I had even filled out paperwork & picked out all of my options at another place. Guess they didn't want my business, since they never called, which was probably a blessing, since I later found some less than glowing reviews about them. Anyways...Hearth & Home was a breath of fresh air from the first moment I stepped in the door. I dealt with 5 different individuals while going through the process. All were great to deal with & knew what they were talking about & the installers treated my home as if it were their own. No one prior to Hearth & Home bothered to ask me about the history of my chimney, which could have caused serious issues down the road for me, if I had gone with the vent less gas logs I was originally planning on going with. Installation of the gas logs, and running a new gas line & electric & removal of my wood burning insert took about 7 hours, but I never once saw the guys stop working. They were also comfortable with my steeply pitched roof, which most workers have not been a fan of.

Recent Review: We initially contacted The Patio and Fireplace since they were the original installer on our new home 19 years ago and had checked it 6 years ago. We were told that since it is over 15 years old they refused to service it but we were told of a $200 coupon that we could use toward the purchase of a new fireplace. We then contacted Ferguson Free Energy in Mars and they agreed to come out to our home in Kennedy township. Gary the owner, is professional, knowledgeable and most importantly, HONEST. We told him that it would shut down intermittently and he diagnosed the issue immediately as a faulty electrical connection. He also vacuumed, cleaned the glass replaced the embers and even painted a scratch that was on the unit. We definitely recommend them to anyone having an issue or in need of a fireplace because of Gary’s knowledge, and honest business practice. Simply put instead of Holmes on Homes he’s the Ferguson of Fireplaces!

Recent Review: Showed up on time and took steps to make sure they didn't get dirt on the carpets during the work. They ran into some issues when they opened the fireplace and found that much of it had been mortared in, so they had to clear it out to make room for the insert. This cost extra but was not unreasonable. The finished product was beautiful and everyone who has seen it loves it. The overall cost was a little more than I planned to spend but I don't think it was out of line with what we got out of it. Overall very satisfied.
