Reviews in Pittsburgh to Install Batt Insulation

Project went flawlessly. Bob was very forthcoming and knowledgeable about what I needed. His pricing was extremely fair. His crew was on time and clean. They did the job exactly to spec, knew all the places that they needed to add insulation (behind knee walls, in gables, etc.), and they patched all access holes they made to perfection. They also left my 3rd floor cleaner than when they got there. It will take some time to evaluate how well the solution works in the hot and cold weather but overall, I am really happy with the quality and value of the work performed. Would recommend and hire again.

They were prompt, clean and courteous. We had a small hiccup that Bob went out of his way to correct in an extremely timely fashion. Would hire again in a second.

The work request was for R30 cellulose insulation to be installed over existing batt insulation and floor boards in the attic. Andy came out and gave us a competitive quote so we scheduled for installation about two weeks later. We interviewed 6x different companies before setting with Andy due to competitive pricing and focus on our needs. Unfortunately, some of the other companies we interviewed attempted to up-sell us on services that we did not need. The team came out on time and completed the job to specification. All areas of the attic now have an even distribution of cellulose. Additionally, they showed great attention to detail by re-arranging, evening out, and removing some of the degraded batt insulation prior to adding in the cellulose. Team also did a good job with cleaning up afterwards and leaving the work area cleaner than when they came in. For those with COVID concerns having work done during the pandemic, the team masked up before entry and wore them correctly the entire time. If I require additional insulation work in the future, I plan on hiring Andy and his team.

The estimate phase of the work was completed professionally and the owner felt that the price was comprehensive. The insulators arrived right on time and completed their work efficiently within four hours. The house was left clean and in good order. This was a painless experience. We would recommend Options Insulating to anyone who wanted to have spray-in insulation placed in their attic.

Ray returned my initial call very quickly. He arrived the next day to look at the space and give me a estimate. We scheduled for him to come on Saturday Nov 1, 2008. He arrived on time. They were very neat, and they worked VERY quickly. Ray was running insulation up like a man on a mission. We had discussed the option of fiberglass vs cellulose blown in insulation. I opted to go for Owens Corning batt insulation. They were kind enough to move and even dis-guard some of the needless junk in the attic. They were done much faster than I could have hoped. Job was done very well and to my complete satisfaction. I will probably use the same company for my brothers house. Ray and his assistant were friendly and hard working. You could tell that they took pride in their work. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I was very satisfied with Casey Insulation. Everyone from the owner to the guys on the crew were very professional and courteous. I have a large home with a finished attic, which made getting to some of the areas difficult, but they were able to adapt as they got into the walls, and insulated every place that was possible. They also were able to correct a poor job that was done by someone else by taking out the insulation in my upstairs bathroom and putting new insulation in (correctly this time). Now the room that was so hard to heat is nice and comfortable. I would definitely recommend them!

I contacted several companies, including JD (Jim) Gales, for estimates to insulate the top floor of my house. I selected Jim because he was very professional and courteous and his price was the cheapest. His crew of two came out to the house and, as far as I can tell, did a great job installing the insulation. They also did a pretty good job (not perfect) of cleaning up after themselves; they forgot to caulk one of the many holes that they had drilled to blow in the insulation. Jim showed up to check out the job and to say hello. I like Jim and plan to use his company for some other jobs around the house.

While having pricing information about insulating foam at my house is useful, that's not why I paid $75 to have an energy inspection done on my home. I had hoped for some specific analysis of the most problematic areas and different strategies to improve the energy efficiency. Instead I sat through a sales pitch about foam insulation. Not that I mind having the information or the quote, but that's simply not what I paid for. Very disappointing.

Recent Review: Adam from USA Insulation provided an estimate a few weeks after I first talked to him at the home show. Projections that the job would pay for itself in savings over 3-to-5 years - and the federal tax credit - convinced me to move ahead. The company also provided an estimate for adding loose-fill insulation in my attic (about $500 more), but I decided would prefer to add batt insulation myself. They arrived on time the day of the install and quickly got to work. Two men from the 4 man crew started drilling the exterior holes (noisy work), while two others checked cold air returns, outlets and other items in outside walls that might pose concerns. In less than 6 hours, they had made their way around the whole house, drilling and spraying in the foam insulation. A little insulation popped through cracks on the inside, but that was very minor and easy to clean up. The crew thoroughly checked the house inside and outside after they were done and did a walk-through with me. They cleaned up fairly well, but there was still a lot of dust in the garage, on the front porch and patio that I cleaned up myself. A light odor lingered in the house for a couple of days - opening windows helped to eliminate the fumes. Overall it was a good experience. The price is a little high, but considering the work involved, not out of line. The real test will be in the months and years ahead as I find out whether the comfort and savings really match the promises.

Recent Review: After signing the contract and making the initial payment, the project started slightly behind schedule. However, during this period we stayed in constant contact with our salesman discussing and finalizing product and other fine details of the project. A project foreman was assigned who did measurements, delivered materials, and scheduled work crews for the various phases of the project. He was knowledgeable and did a good job of communicating with us throughout the entire project. During the demolition phase of the project an unforeseen problem was encountered with an existing support beam. There was a known leak in our roof that was to be fixed as part of the project. However, the extensive damage to the existing beam was not expected and needed replaced adding additional cost and time to the project. We felt that the additional cost was fair and that the replacement beam was installed properly. The existing leak in the roof was fixed. However, some of the existing plywood (under the roofing tiles) and fascia showing signs of dampness and deterioration was left in place. We later agreed that the work to make these repairs would be completed in the spring. Another problem was encountered when the township inspector required additional support for the roof due to the cathedral ceiling. A ridge bean had to be installed which was not in the original plans adding more time to the project. The project foreman did a good job of working with us and the inspector to satisfy both parties. The finished ceiling with the ridge beam and ceiling fan look great. We love the wall system with all the glass. And, we are glad we added the electric radiant heat in the floor under the ceramic tile although this took longer than expected to install and added time to the project. The finished room is the perfect upgrade that we can use year round. The Betterliving crew was professional, punctual, and did quality work. They arrived on the job site when they said they would. This was important to us since we were coordinating our work schedules. We would use Betterliving again and recommend them to anyone for their sunroom project.
