They were prompt, clean and courteous. We had a small hiccup that Bob went out of his way to correct in an extremely timely fashion. Would hire again in a second.

The work request was for R30 cellulose insulation to be installed over existing batt insulation and floor boards in the attic. Andy came out and gave us a competitive quote so we scheduled for installation about two weeks later. We interviewed 6x different companies before setting with Andy due to competitive pricing and focus on our needs. Unfortunately, some of the other companies we interviewed attempted to up-sell us on services that we did not need. The team came out on time and completed the job to specification. All areas of the attic now have an even distribution of cellulose. Additionally, they showed great attention to detail by re-arranging, evening out, and removing some of the degraded batt insulation prior to adding in the cellulose. Team also did a good job with cleaning up afterwards and leaving the work area cleaner than when they came in. For those with COVID concerns having work done during the pandemic, the team masked up before entry and wore them correctly the entire time. If I require additional insulation work in the future, I plan on hiring Andy and his team.

I was very satisfied with Casey Insulation. Everyone from the owner to the guys on the crew were very professional and courteous. I have a large home with a finished attic, which made getting to some of the areas difficult, but they were able to adapt as they got into the walls, and insulated every place that was possible. They also were able to correct a poor job that was done by someone else by taking out the insulation in my upstairs bathroom and putting new insulation in (correctly this time). Now the room that was so hard to heat is nice and comfortable. I would definitely recommend them!

I contacted several companies, including JD (Jim) Gales, for estimates to insulate the top floor of my house. I selected Jim because he was very professional and courteous and his price was the cheapest. His crew of two came out to the house and, as far as I can tell, did a great job installing the insulation. They also did a pretty good job (not perfect) of cleaning up after themselves; they forgot to caulk one of the many holes that they had drilled to blow in the insulation. Jim showed up to check out the job and to say hello. I like Jim and plan to use his company for some other jobs around the house.

From the beginning, Andy was prompt, courteous, and explained everything in great detail. Any questions I had he was sure to answer them. Him and his team arrived right on time, they were neat (wore booties throughout the house!), and got the work done. They cleaned everything up afterwards, and then took the time to go through and explain everything that was done. We are already feeling a difference on our third floor!

They were on time and very professional. The owner explained everything to me. They cleaned up after themselves. We saw immediate results. While they were pouring in the insulation, they asked if we wanted them to install insulation in the garage because there was a cold spot. I thought the addition that was added onto the house needed insulation, but when they drilled into the wall they saw it already had insulation so they used that to fill in the garage at no additional cost. The owner called and asked detailed questions about my service experience and made sure I was happy. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

This was an excellent experience from the very beginning! Andy promptly returns all calls/texts, takes his time answering many questions, was flexible with our timing, and I never felt pressured or that I was being "sold too". Andy and his crew spent 2 days installing insulation into a 120 year old home that was a sauna in the summer and freezer in the winter. The very next day (temps were high 80s) we already notices a huge comfort difference! Lastly, when his crew finished it was almost like nobody was ever there. Everything was cleaned and swept up, and they took very special care to respect our home. I have already referred several friends to Andy, and suggest you give this company a serious consideration!

Betterliving Patio Rooms of Pittsburgh

After signing the contract and making the initial payment, the project started slightly behind schedule. However, during this period we stayed in constant contact with our salesman discussing and finalizing product and other fine details of the project. A project foreman was assigned who did measurements, delivered materials, and scheduled work crews for the various phases of the project. He was knowledgeable and did a good job of communicating with us throughout the entire project. During the demolition phase of the project an unforeseen problem was encountered with an existing support beam. There was a known leak in our roof that was to be fixed as part of the project. However, the extensive damage to the existing beam was not expected and needed replaced adding additional cost and time to the project. We felt that the additional cost was fair and that the replacement beam was installed properly. The existing leak in the roof was fixed. However, some of the existing plywood (under the roofing tiles) and fascia showing signs of dampness and deterioration was left in place. We later agreed that the work to make these repairs would be completed in the spring. Another problem was encountered when the township inspector required additional support for the roof due to the cathedral ceiling. A ridge bean had to be installed which was not in the original plans adding more time to the project. The project foreman did a good job of working with us and the inspector to satisfy both parties. The finished ceiling with the ridge beam and ceiling fan look great. We love the wall system with all the glass. And, we are glad we added the electric radiant heat in the floor under the ceramic tile although this took longer than expected to install and added time to the project. The finished room is the perfect upgrade that we can use year round. The Betterliving crew was professional, punctual, and did quality work. They arrived on the job site when they said they would. This was important to us since we were coordinating our work schedules. We would use Betterliving again and recommend them to anyone for their sunroom project.

Bob Casey called me the same day that I first called him and came to look at the job 2 days later and gave me an estimate. He did the job 2 days after in a very reasonable amount of time (4-1/2 hours). His workers were very professional and friendly. Bob is very friendly and easy to work with. They plugged and patched the holes and I paid Bob to paint the wall after (included in the 2800.00). Bob came out the day after and put primer paint on the holes and came back on Saturday and finished the painting. I am very pleased with the job. My house is much quieter from the traffic noise on the road than before the insulation. I will have to compare my gas bills this year to what they were last year. I wish I had done this many years ago. I have had other work done in my home and have not been happy with the contractors but this has been a very good experience. I would highly recommend Casey Insulation.

We contacted Casey Insulation and described what we were looking for and asked for a quote. The owner, Bob, said they specialized in preexisting homes, and came out to give us an estimate on a Saturday, which was the first day we were available. When he quoted us the job he reviewed the type of insulation they would be using and how they would be performing the work. His crew arrived right on time, wore booties during the job, and vacuumed the upstairs when they were finished. We are very happy with the work and would recommend them to anyone.

They first sent someone to get rid of a raccoon in the attic. During this inspection he convinced me to install insulation in the attic. The attic door was not insulated properly and we detected significant amounts of warm air leakage with a thermal camera, but he came back to fix that. Chutes were also not installed on the soffit and this is apparently needed for proper ventilation. The improper installation caused a blockage and an ice dam to form. We have since reached out to a different company who have unblocked the soffit and installed the insulation correctly. In addition they air-sealed the attic as this was also not done before and we were told it would be a health hazard if it wasn't done.

It sounded odd that there was a code for renovating existing structures so we called the city of Pittsburgh and they stated that there was no such requirement. When we told them what the City had told us they said they didn't want the job and turned the work down even though we had a written estimate in hand. We have knowledge and skills that make us more aware of contracting ins and outs and knew enough to question a fishy statement. The guy we talked to at the city said there was a foam insulation kit available for about half the price their (bogus) proposal came in at, so we will do it ourselves. It makes me sad that companies like this take advantage of people. They may install insulation of adequate quality but they are not as knowledgeable as they seem to be and they just made stuff up in order to upsell us. Backing out of a written estimate becasue we did not was their and quot;extraand quot; recommendation was very unprofessional. Beware.

SWEET SUCCESS CONTRACTORS

I can't say enough good things about Sweet Success Contractors. I initially hired them for a huge plaster repair job. The previous owners of the house had hidden a roof leak behind a false wall in the master bedroom and it had left 10+ years of catastrophic damage. They did a complete restoration of the original plaster along with installing insulation and new trim to match the original wood trim that is throughout the rest of the house. They did beautiful work and were very respectful of my home and my dog. I was so happy that I brought them back again to do some work in my kitchen. They ripped up some badly installed ceramic tile (also courtesy of the previous owners). Part of it covered some original hardwood that I was determined to preserve and against all odds they managed to pull up the tile leaving the hardwood largely unscathed. They installed a radiant heat system under a porcelain tile floor that has been delightful all winter long. Once again, they installed a beautiful trim which perfectly matches the original 1937 wood trim in the rest of the house. They also did a repair of yet more water damage in my kitchen ceiling (this time from a bathtub leak) as well as repairing the leaky bathtub and doing some other minor plumbing work. When I had a minor issue with the garbage disposal, they came back same day and fixed it immediately. Still happy, I brought them back a third time to install new radiator covers throughout the house. Again, just perfect. They share my appreciation for original features in the house but they also know how to strike a practical balance between restoration and replacement. They don't know it yet, but their next projects with me are some new basement stairs and a bathroom remodel. I can't wait to hire them again.
