Came up with solutions that were more pleasing than what we had laid out for wheelchair accessibility and staircase design change at the rear of the project

Extreme Decks & Roofing
5.0
Rear access to our home is only possible by a wooden boardwalk from the garage around 3 sides of the house to the back porch. After 30 years the original boardwalk was sagging and slimy. And we wanted to widen for wheelbarrow and wheelchair access. Several summers ago we called some local contractors to give us estimates. We had some drive-bys who never stopped, one who gave us an outrageous bid for simply replacing in kind, and 2 who came but never bid or even returned our calls. Then we received a packet of discount cards in the mail, including one from Extreme Decks. Aaron came within hours of our initial call, and offered a nice price on the replacement and widening. The crew came when he said they would, worked hard, sang, cleaned up after themselves, and made several improvements we hadn't thought of. Great crew, great guy. Aaron's card is in our file for future projects.

Gilson & Daughters Construction

I needed handicap access to/from my house. I contacted Gilson and Daughters after checking Angies list. Bob Gilson came out the next day and explained how he would install an outdoor wheelchair lift and gave us a preliminary estimate. He told us his wife would call us back in a couple of days with a firm estimate (she had to find out what expenses the city of Pittsburgh requirements would add to job). We had to call them several times over the next two weeks before we were able to get their final estimate. We liked Bob Gilson personally, but ultimately we decided we wanted a ramp rather than a lift.

Gilson & Daughters Construction

I was very pleased. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about what he did. He had common sense about what I needed, such as making the ramp gently sloped. He gave me a way out around the ramp also, and he was very thoughtful about providing what would work for us.

They did a terrific job on the front and back the porches. The even realized that my ramp that leads up to the back deck was starting to collapse (I have MS and the back door and ramp is my only way in and out of the house), without charging me anymore money they fixed that. I'd recommend these people to anybody!

Mr. Fuze is very experienced in all aspects of wood decks. Mine is old and had loose steps, broken latticework, some warped boards, and was faded and dirty. He repaired all aspects, replacing some wood, pressure washed and used a mechanical scrubber to clean it, sanded all the flat surfaces of the bench and railings, and restained it with an opaque stain similar to the previous application. He and a helper did all the work. It took several days and the only delay in completing the job was due to the weather. I had a time constraint in needing to get the job done before my daughter's upcoming wedding and he worked me into his busy schedule so it would be finished in time. He communicated well, returned all phone calls, and did a first class job. He is not cheap, but the work is worth the price, in my opinion. If you need anything of any sort done on a deck, he is the man for the job.

He came out within a fees days to build the ramp but it took him a month to come out and finish the project which included a hand rail and a edge to prevent sliding off the ramp. And when he did it was only supposed to go 3/4 of the way so as to be able to access the yard. He went the whole way down and left the gate opened when he left so that the dog could get out!

This was my second time using Sweet Success. When I purchased my home, a second story wood deck was unfinished. Sweet Success sanded the entire deck, replaced numerous warped and loose spindels, and painted the deck with outdoor deck & dock paint. They worked quickly, communicated when issues arose, and left the area/yard clean when they left.
