A burner went out and need replacement on GE electric stove top. Also our dishwasher was not filling with water. Both were fixed fast and correctly for a fair price. We were very pleased wit the work done. This is the second time we used them in a 4 month period. One thing that we really liked is that they gave us advice on a new refrigerator we wanted to buy regarding reliability. Great appliance repair people. Honest and reasonable. VERY PLEASED AND WILL USE AGAIN NEXT TIME WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

During the installation we discovered that the new 36" cook top was slightly smaller than the old 36" cooktop. Only the top and bottom edges or the cook top are stainless steel so there is a less than 1/2" space on the outer side edges between the cook top and the counter. The installer stated that he would get two strips of stainless steel to cover the space. The installation was done on 1/23/14. It is now 2/11/14 and the installer has not returned. I have checked with the store twice and they have assured me both times that the stainless steel was ordered and the installer will return, however I have not seen or heard from him as of this date. Hard to believe it takes this long to get two strips of stainless steel. I can only rate this experience with a B minus.

My husband discovered water that seemed to be seeping up from around the edges of the electric (glass) range top. When he opened the cabinet below, the water gushed out. When he tried to cut the water off at the kitchen valve, the valve just spun. When he tried to cut the water off at the whole house indoor cut off, that valve just spun then froze. He had to turn off all the water to the house from the outside main. Of course, this was in the afternoon evening. We called the people we usually use, and they couldn't come out, so we called a friend who said and quot;her guyand quot; was very dependable. It was Bartlebaugh Plumbing, and they came within the hour. After several hours of contortionist work under two sinks (bathroom and kitchen), behind a refrigerator, and under the range we had two new valves, and a new water line to our refrigerator. They even cleaned up the mess. They were pleasant and efficient throughout the whole ordeal. Their rates were unexpectedly reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else, or use them again myself. They have now become and quot;my guy.and quot;

CUSTOM INSTALLATIONS
5.0
The installers did a good and thorough job. The installation of the dishwasher at our son's house was on time and went well. There were a number of problems, however, that caused the installation process t,at our house to extend for seven weeks. When the installers first came, they only installed the double oven. Sears had sent the wrong color of dishwasher and Custom Installations could not cut the solid surface countertop to install the cooktop. The people in their office had told me that the installers would be able to provide this service but had apparently forgotten that the person that had done this for the company was no longer employed there. Fortunately, we were able to get some people who were installing a solid surface countertop in our son's home to come over and cut the hole. While this delayed installation of the countertop, we saved over $100 on the cost of this service. Then Custom Installations came back and installed the countertop. There was no additional charge. When the dishwasher was next delivered, after having been back-ordered by Sears, the installer noticed that it had a dent in it. Since he had already removed our old dishwasher, he put in the dented one and Sears agreed to order another one. We appreciated his willingness to do this. Finally, the correct dishwasher came in and the installer removed the dented one and installed the new one. Each of the installers was very nice and helpful. We are really glad, however, that the process is over.

Handymen R Us Inc

Handymen R Us put together a pre-fab metal shed that I had purchased at a big box store. They picked it up at the store for me and brought it to my house. They constructed a pre-treated wood floor for it and installed it in a couple of days. The metal panels of the shed were pretty flimsy and there were hundreds of screws, so I felt the did any excellent job to get the shed put together in that amount of time.They replaced the tiles in the floor of my master bathroom shower. It looks nice and Jacob made the job look easy. He also installed crown molding in the master bedroom and in the dining room. He painted and sealed around all the edges. The first paint color did not match the rest of the trim, so he repainted it with matching paint.They also replaced the old formica countertops with granite, installed a new sink and faucet, re-plumbed under the sink, installed a new gas line and new gas range top; installed a water line and a pot-filler faucet; backplash, new electrical line for the range top; new electrical outlets and plates. The kitchen looks beautiful and I was very pleased with the work.Vic is great. He works with you and unless you make changes along the way, the price he quotes you is the price you pay. I was very pleased with Handymen R Us and I will use them again next time I need work done.

Recent Review: I called Greg early (Hubby for Hire) he returned my call an hour later. Anyway, I spoke with him on the phone told him about our problem; he seemed very nice on the phone said he would be over within the hour to look at the problem. Within the hour Greg arrived and he looked at the range and the cabinet immediately he explained to me and my husband what he would have to do. He told us the price he would charge and we agreed, Greg also explained about the countertop that my husband and son in law had previously chipped... that he could, if we wanted him to, order countertop and replace the damaged one that was done by my son in law and husband. He called and quoted us the costs of replacement and the cost of his charge which was hardly anything. Greg installed my range moved the cabinet over and hooked up my icemaker for me. Greg did all this in record time of approximately 3 hours... as far as I am concerned... Greg saved our marriage nah,,, he just got my husband out of the dog house and back in good graces with me; a NOW happy wife! Now if Greg could only come back and program the oven and range clock for us ... The overall cost was around $200.00 well worth it.

Recent Review: Over the last year and a half we've hired Chet again and again, at least 15 days total, and recommend him to family that needed work done. They were also glad they waited and used Chet Steward and plan on using him again. We hope Chet never retires as we can't imagine finding someone that could compare. His prices are ridiculously low (sometimes by as much as half!) compared to the four or five other quotes we received from contractors; Chet charges by the hour rather than by the job. He has worked as a contractor and knows what he's doing. In addition, he's a perfectionist and has been known to stay at our place past midnight just to "get it done right!." You can trust this guy in your home, he's also a former pastor and still has the morals entailed. He's never needed to advertises as his work speaks for itself. In fact, the main drawback to hiring Chet is the wait; he's in such demand that he's often booked out for months! We recommend scheduling early and more time than you need to complete the jobs; you don't want to have a project unfinished and waiting for Chet's scheduled to open up. There's no need to worry that Chet will be left hanging; he always has a list of people hoping to be scheduled early due to cancellation. Also, Chet is NOT a morning person, he starts late (even when he says he'll be there early) and often works late into the night; don't schedule on a day when you need to head out in the evening so he has the chance to finish what he's started. The only other problem we've had is with his unskilled labor associate--his price per hour includes Chet, his tools and one helper. These helpers have varied from amazing to lazy--one such helper kept disappearing to take cigaret breaks and read a romance novel. Even so, when we've had problems, we've talked to Chet and he's reduced the bill for the day accordingly; he's also fixed mistakes by said helper at no charge. At one point in the remodeling our electric stove was broken by accident. Chet paid us replacement cost for the electric stove and installed a new stove for free (almost $500 in free labor!). This was not an easy install since we upgraded to an induction oven and added a downdraft range hood; much of the island cabinetry had to be redesigned to fit. Chet is also open to letting people, like my husband, help with remodels in order to speed up the process and, thus, reduce costs. You'll get the most bang for your buck if you have all the supplies ready for him when he arrives. He is willing to go to the store and pick things up but you do pay for his time to go shopping. Overall, Chet is the only handyman we'd consider hiring. He's smart, funny, trustworthy, experienced and affordable.

Recent Review: Calvin and his men prepared my house for sale. The largest part of the job was to turn my unfinished, filthy, basement into a pure white, pristine area with linoleum tiles that make the floor look like tile. They helped remove everything from the basement and put it into their dumpster. They painted the entire house beautifully with white ceilings, off white walls, and bright white trim. The paint job is very professional. They did everything from filling and tying down my possessions in my PODS to repairing molding and installing a gas cooktop. Calvin was always accessible and his men did the job from start to finish without interruption. The entire crew was respectful of my property and was polite and professional. Throughout, I felt that Calvin's goal was to do the best job possible for me...and he did.

Recent Review: Our GE electric stove was not properly heating, even though the digital display indicated it was reaching the desired temperature. (For example, when the digital display read 350 degrees, the actual oven temperature was only 200 degrees. In addition, it would take nearly 20 minutes before the oven reached the desired temperature of 350). The tech quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad sensor and also recommended that we replace the motherboard, as it was his experience that replacing the sensor alone would only solve the problem 30% of the time. We opted for the additional cost, trusting his experience and knowing that another service call would just cost additional time and money (and the inconvenience of not having a working oven). The tech replaced both the sensor and the motherboard, and the oven is working great now! I'm pleased we took his advice. In addition, Arrow was able to come at a time (that same week we called) that was most convenient for us. He was punctual, and he knew what he was doing. Oh, and he left us with an oven thermometer that we could keep to check the temperature. Would definitely use Arrow again.

Recent Review: Colin came out right away to do the estimate. He provided a best case-worst case range and itemized everything in the estimate which was appreciated. Its nice having someone provide full transparency upfront, that type of transparency prevents those unpleasant surprises down the road and avoids hard feeling for both parties. Aaron and Vance came for the install and didn't waste a minute of time, they had everything done ahead of schedule, cut only a tiny bit of sheetrock behind the stove for the new line, and didn't leave a scrap of any waste behind. They even used a few extra spare minutes to help push in and level our new stove which WAS appreciated. They provided a new gas line connection hose between the wall and the stove, the ones purchased from the big box store do NOT meet code (Warning to others when buying a gas range, check with your plumber before buying a connection hose from the store). Overall great job and will use them again!

Recent Review: We hired Jeff because of previous carpentry projects he had done that really impressed us. He has shown himself to be an excellent craftsman, skilled and experienced in just about any remodel or construction task you throw at him. He came over, looked at the job we wanted done, took measurements, and called the countertop supplier right then. He came back the next morning with the countertops and got right to work. He and his assistant had the job done that day. We decided to have him build cabinet doors instead of leaving open shelving as we'd first thought, so he will build them at his shop and come back to install them in a day or two. He's a good family man who is honest, very hard working, and concerned with giving his customer the highest quality results. We've been happy to recommend him to others who needed his skills in both commercial and residential jobs. We will also be hiring him again in a few weeks to do drywall, cabinetry and countertop installation in our master bath remodel.

Recent Review: Greg Andrews was extremely punctual. He was here every morning by 8 am and worked every day but one till 5 pm or later. He was exceptionally tidy, stopping to sweep or vacuum several times a day when necessary. He used drop cloths throughout every area where he was working. He was very pleasant, didn't mind me watching him while he worked at times. There were a couple of things we asked him to do that weren't part of the original deal, and he was very accommodating. He seems to be quite skilled in the areas of carpentry, plumbing and electrical, and tile setting. The whole job took him two weeks. Greg's wife, Debbie, was very instrumental in ordering all the tile, scheduling the pick-up of our used appliances, and helping with design/color decisions. I texted her many, many times in the weeks leading up to the start of de-construction. She was very patient with my many questions.
