We are a military family, stationed out-of-state, who plan to eventually retire back to an older house we have in Midwest City. The original house was built in 1955, with a garage conversion done at a latter date (1960's or 1970's) and a master suite addition built in 1993. We had kept the house rented out for the last eleven years and it was in serious need of renovation, partly due to age, partly due to renter damage/neglect. Since we don't live in the area, and my husband is currently deployed overseas, I needed to find an honest, good contractor who could handle all the extensive and varied work that needed to be done. Based on Angie's List recommendations, I contacted Vic Vickers and arranged to meet him at the house last April to discuss the project. I was very impressed with Vic from the first and, as he assured me he could handle it all as a general contractor, I accepted his bid and didn't interview anyone else. My renters moved out on June 30th and Vic's guys began their work on July 5th, completing it on Sept. 2nd. Vic's primary crew consisted of Jacob (crew leader) and Chance-- two young men who I found to be absolutely wonderful. They were always friendly, cheerful, and personable. They are honest, hard working and polite. They worked on the project most weekdays for nine weeks. On the days they weren't there, it was usually to do work for some of Vic's other customers, as they are very much in demand. On days that they needed extra hands, they brought in additional guys. As other Angie's List members have stated, they were very good to clean up the work site at the end of each day. My three children, two large dogs and myself stayed in the master suite while all the work was going on. The guys were really good about consulting me about everything, whether it was a problem that they had run into, or about details like where I wanted light fixtures placed. On the rare occasion that I found something done that I was less than satisfied with, they corrected it willingly and immediately. They offered some really good suggestions for some improvements and were very receptive to my own ideas. They were really tremendous and very knowledgable and skilled. Some of the work was subcontracted out like the fencing, the driveway and sidewalk, the hardwood floor repair and refinishing, most of the electrical, and the cabinetry and countertops. Vic uses excellent subcontractors. Vic's own guys did all the demo, construction, plumbing (including installing the tankless hot water heater and whirlpool tub), tile work, wall and ceiling repair, doors, trim, hanging of light fixtures, wall texturing, etc. I have to mention that the extensive tile work was especially nice and Jacob has a real designer's eye for it. Vic Vickers has proven himself to be a man of integrity and as knowledgable and honest as they come. I cannot say enough nice things about him and his crew! They turned my house around and made it into what is probably the nicest house in the entire neighborhood. The project by nature was stressful, but they did everything that could be done to reduce that stress and left me more than satisfied, feeling that I definitely got my money's worth and that our home investment has been both preserved and improved.
