Steward Maintenance
5.0
Over the last year and a half we've hired Chet again and again, at least 15 days total, and recommend him to family that needed work done. They were also glad they waited and used Chet Steward and plan on using him again. We hope Chet never retires as we can't imagine finding someone that could compare. His prices are ridiculously low (sometimes by as much as half!) compared to the four or five other quotes we received from contractors; Chet charges by the hour rather than by the job. He has worked as a contractor and knows what he's doing. In addition, he's a perfectionist and has been known to stay at our place past midnight just to "get it done right!." You can trust this guy in your home, he's also a former pastor and still has the morals entailed. He's never needed to advertises as his work speaks for itself. In fact, the main drawback to hiring Chet is the wait; he's in such demand that he's often booked out for months! We recommend scheduling early and more time than you need to complete the jobs; you don't want to have a project unfinished and waiting for Chet's scheduled to open up. There's no need to worry that Chet will be left hanging; he always has a list of people hoping to be scheduled early due to cancellation. Also, Chet is NOT a morning person, he starts late (even when he says he'll be there early) and often works late into the night; don't schedule on a day when you need to head out in the evening so he has the chance to finish what he's started. The only other problem we've had is with his unskilled labor associate--his price per hour includes Chet, his tools and one helper. These helpers have varied from amazing to lazy--one such helper kept disappearing to take cigaret breaks and read a romance novel. Even so, when we've had problems, we've talked to Chet and he's reduced the bill for the day accordingly; he's also fixed mistakes by said helper at no charge. At one point in the remodeling our electric stove was broken by accident. Chet paid us replacement cost for the electric stove and installed a new stove for free (almost $500 in free labor!). This was not an easy install since we upgraded to an induction oven and added a downdraft range hood; much of the island cabinetry had to be redesigned to fit. Chet is also open to letting people, like my husband, help with remodels in order to speed up the process and, thus, reduce costs. You'll get the most bang for your buck if you have all the supplies ready for him when he arrives. He is willing to go to the store and pick things up but you do pay for his time to go shopping. Overall, Chet is the only handyman we'd consider hiring. He's smart, funny, trustworthy, experienced and affordable.

David & crew did a great job! Offered some suggestions I needed on how to address some step issues on the porches. Worked out perfectly. The driveway looks wonderful and I have even received compliments from neighbors! I had some questions and a few sprinkler issues and David was very responsive.

First, he answered my call promptly and came out to give an estimate within the week. He was very friendly and professional. His estimate was very reasonable for the work we were planning. His work on the smaller projects was done in a day and he did a great clean-up job. The quality of the work on the front steps was excellent. He came up with a solution to the hole at our roof line where birds were getting in to an attic crawlspace that other workers did not, and the solution was practical and economical. When he started work on the mantels he was able to meet me after work (very helpful for me) to take the measurements. He did all the work in his shop keeping our house clean! He brought color samples of wood stain by the house so we could see the colors in the rooms where the mantels were going. The mantels took only 1-1/2 days to install and he did a beautiful job. They are fitted perfectly around the tile face and back to the wall, even cut around the floor molding. I requested an arch to front panel and he was able to execute exactly what I had in mind. We have had some HORRIBLE experiences with workers in the past, and usually we just can't get anyone to return our calls (!), but we could not have been more pleased with our experience with Mr. Nelson. He is a true craftsman and professional!

DAVE SCOTT CONCRETE CONTRACTOR
5.0
The first time we hired Mr. Scott, we needed to do something about a basement wall that supports the west side of our small house, built in 1922. Expanding/contracting clay around the basement had cracked the wall, which was bowing inward and aT risk of collapsing someday. Mr. Scott built a six-inch-thick, five-foot-tall rebar-reinforced wall in front of the existing wall. When we asked him if there would ever be any more cracking, he said, "This wall is never moving again." There hasn't been a single problem with the wall since that was done in about 2010. We called him again this summer (2017) because the cracks in our two raised porches were approaching two inches wide. The posts supporting part of the roof sat on the porches, and there were cracks around and under (!!!) the bases of the posts. We got an estimate from another contractor who said it would be $6800 for one porch only. Mr. Scott did both porches for $5550, and he did an outstanding job (will attach before and after pix). He used 90-degree rebar around all the edges of the porches to reinforce them. He recommended making the step risers shallower (great decision!), which added a step to each porch. He propped up the porticoes over each porch using multiple 2x4's, took off the posts, replaced the rotted wooden bases of the columns with cedar, and put the posts back up after the concrete had cured. When he was done, he said, "These porches will last until the house is torn down." We told him not to tempt the fates of Oklahoma weather! Mr. Scott communicated well at every step of the process and did everything on time and on budget. (He actually said he went a little over budget, but he would honor his original estimate, so he is an honest person.) He even took an existing metal hand rail from one of the porches to his home, and his grown son welded on an extension so that the rail could be re-used, saving us some money. We are 100% satisfied and recommend him wholeheartedly! (I know he also does driveways because he gave an estimate to a neighbor, and he told me what that project would involve. He has been doing this work for a few decades, so he knows what he is doing.)

Brent, the owner, called me almost immediately after I requested a quote on Angie’s list. We made an appointment for Monday and Brent came himself. I found him to be friendly, informative and competent. He kept my informed as the work progressed. I was very impressed and will call when I need more work done. Very good experience.

He made a porch swing bed for me from a picture, and it turned out so much better than the picture and than I anticipated. He also leveled and hung the bed, and his price for all of that was very fair. He is so nice, and the guys working with him were great, too. He's professional, dependable, and has a lot of integrity.

Recent Review: Carl was very diligent in returning my phone calls when it became apparent we were playing phone tag. He was able to meet with me for an estimate of the job and worked with me and my schedule. He showed up promptly and was very thorough. He was very observant of details and pointed out more than a few things that absolutely had to be replaced versus repaired, and none of the other companies I had other estimates with had noticed or commented on the problems. He was very helpful in helping me decide the priorities. He informed me during the initial estimate it would take 1 1/2 weeks to complete the job and he kept right on schedule. I needed to have quite a bit of woodwork replaced and he used good materials, he did a great job and did not cut corners to get the job done faster. He offered guidance regarding the repair of the gables and suggested a product that would last much longer than wood. It looks better than great! He had an assistant he worked with and both gentlemen cleaned up the majority, if not almost all of the paint chips that were a result of the power washing and scraping. After the job was complete, Carl's assistant came by a week later and carried all the leftover material that was needing to be dumped, and placed the debris on my curb for the monthly sanitation pickup. After having a clear vision of what painting and repair work needed to be completed, Carl was very autonomous and did not have to call me for clarification on different components of the job. I felt that Reese and Son's did an excellent job on the exterior of my house and the wood work he had to repair was done excellently!! I am very satisfied with the work and would definitely use his business again. In addition, I am more than willing to provide a recommendation to others.

Recent Review: After seeing their product at the Minneapolis Home & Garden show we were convinced that this was the right product for our porch improvement work. The guys from EZ-Screen brought samples to our home to help us select frame color and installation method. They took careful measurements of all of the window and door openings and put our order in motion. A few weeks later our windows and door were delivered. We did this work at the same time we had some exterior siding work done by another contractor. We arranged to have that contractor do the actual installation of the EZ-Screen product. The rep from EZ-Screen came out to our site when the installation started to ensure that our contractor understood how to properly install the windows and door. Everything went smoothly and contractor commented on how easy the windows went in. After three full seasons of use we still enjoy the product and we're pleased that we chose this as part of our porch renovation. It has added several additional months to our porch usage in our short Minnesota summer seasons. I highly recommend this product for any new screen porch or porch renovation job!

Business Description: Ready to sell or rent your property, one call does it all. Check out the Make Ready Page on my website for the details and see the before and after photos. http://www.ahandymanbyronnieweeksllc.com From the floor to the ceiling, one call does it all! On a recent job I did some work for a rental property by replacing the floors in the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room. Replaced the drawer slides and cabinet fascia. Replaced the front porch post, gate and part of the fence along with an exterior door. Later I went back and replaced the damaged bottom course of wood siding and trim. Installed new trim around the front door and painted all the new repairs. For one client I completed a kitchen remodel in the same house I completed a bathroom remodel in. I textured the ceiling, painted ceilings and walls; tiled the back splash, installed a new sink faucet and ceiling fan. I had previously completed a bathroom remodel in the same house built back in 1941 where the walls had been wallpapered and textured over. The client wanted the wall taken down smooth and painted. There was an old electrical box with a metal plate covering it that I reworked and covered with drywall...no more ugly plate. Just replacing the vanity and mirror made a big change. The client had replaced the kitchen cabinets exposing electrical wires running from the wall. I relocated the lines, repaired the drywall and installed a new light fixture. A previous contractor had replaced the front door landing and walkway but never returned to pour the step. Update your bathroom or kitchen and increase the value of your home. ONE CALL DOES IT ALL! From small jobs to complete remodels. Hi my name is Ronnie Weeks and I've been in the construction trade for over 20 years. I took the "plunge(er)" just a year ago and decided to start my own handyman business. I know, crazy right, so far I have been blessed with steady work by providing my clients "top shelf" work at a fair price. I started out in the construction trade in my teens attending JOB CORPS and have had the opportunity to get hands on experience in a variety of the trades so when I say "Small jobs to complete remodels" and "One call does it all" I can say I've seen just about everything. This is a family owned business so I currently work alone and if the job requires I will get a second set of hands. I'm one guy so remember, a good job takes time. . .a better job takes a little longer! I wouldn't do anything at your house that I wouldn't do at mine. Not to toot my horn, but I do top quality work at an affordable price. I'm insured, and can be bonded if needed. The business went LLC on 4 Oct 12 so I can say I'm "bona fide"! If the need arises for warranty work, I'll still be around. I stand behind my work.
