Reviews in Oklahoma City to Build a Porch

New Life Renovation and Construction LLC

Very Satisfied with the completed job. Raised roof of porch by adding more support to the 2 X 10 beams that were supporting the roof of the house. Re-raise the porch and roof on the porch. Extended beams out further to support that process. The owner was polite & professional.

It went great. They jackhammered the old porch and hauled it away nice and clean. The new front porch looks BETTER than the day the house was built. Great job. Honest people too!

My 35-year old 25’x15’ low ceiling porch was in dire need of replacement due to termite, hail and water damage. I looked on Angie’s List for somebody who could tear it down and build a new custom screened in porch that was better than the old one. One thing I really wanted was a vaulted ceiling so I could have a ceiling fan. Overall this was a pretty big and somewhat complex project and I was hoping I could find one person who could do it all and see the same vision I had for the finished project. After calling several other contractors who didn’t respond, didn’t seem interested, or said they couldn’t do the entire job, I called Bob Mitchell (a.k.a. The Porch Professor) at MitchCo Construction. He came out the next day and spent almost 2 hours discussing all of the things I wanted done and making sure he understood and shared the same vision that I had of my new porch and the other tasks which needed to be done. In 2 days he sent me a bid for the entire project and said he wanted to come out again and discuss the bid to make sure he had included everything. Bob told me it would be 2-3 weeks before they could start and that was fine. Then he called and said they could start sooner. In addition to all the other good things I have to say about Bob, one of the best things was his constant communication. If something was going to be late or early, if a material delivery was going to be made, or if he just wanted to ask a question to clarify something about the project, he would call to let me know. We must have talked or texted at least 100 times during the course of the entire project. Bob’s crew was really enjoyable to work with. They showed up on time, were very friendly and courteous, and cleaned up their mess at the end of each day. They didn’t mind if I watched while they worked or asked questions about what they were doing. Other than the actual work done, the best thing about the entire project was Bob Mitchell himself. He is a great person to work with and has a high level of attention to detail. If something wasn’t right, it got redone. He even re-did a piece of trim that he himself put up because in his words “it just didn’t look right”. Bottom line is, if you want a great job that’s done right, call Bob Mitchell.

Excellent. They were very thorough and gave us good advice on correcting a couple of existing issues. Their recommendations on building materials were good. They cleaned up and removed all material scraps. I would definitely call them for any future work.

David & crew did a great job! Offered some suggestions I needed on how to address some step issues on the porches. Worked out perfectly. The driveway looks wonderful and I have even received compliments from neighbors! I had some questions and a few sprinkler issues and David was very responsive.

DAVE SCOTT CONCRETE CONTRACTOR
5.0
The first time we hired Mr. Scott, we needed to do something about a basement wall that supports the west side of our small house, built in 1922. Expanding/contracting clay around the basement had cracked the wall, which was bowing inward and aT risk of collapsing someday. Mr. Scott built a six-inch-thick, five-foot-tall rebar-reinforced wall in front of the existing wall. When we asked him if there would ever be any more cracking, he said, "This wall is never moving again." There hasn't been a single problem with the wall since that was done in about 2010. We called him again this summer (2017) because the cracks in our two raised porches were approaching two inches wide. The posts supporting part of the roof sat on the porches, and there were cracks around and under (!!!) the bases of the posts. We got an estimate from another contractor who said it would be $6800 for one porch only. Mr. Scott did both porches for $5550, and he did an outstanding job (will attach before and after pix). He used 90-degree rebar around all the edges of the porches to reinforce them. He recommended making the step risers shallower (great decision!), which added a step to each porch. He propped up the porticoes over each porch using multiple 2x4's, took off the posts, replaced the rotted wooden bases of the columns with cedar, and put the posts back up after the concrete had cured. When he was done, he said, "These porches will last until the house is torn down." We told him not to tempt the fates of Oklahoma weather! Mr. Scott communicated well at every step of the process and did everything on time and on budget. (He actually said he went a little over budget, but he would honor his original estimate, so he is an honest person.) He even took an existing metal hand rail from one of the porches to his home, and his grown son welded on an extension so that the rail could be re-used, saving us some money. We are 100% satisfied and recommend him wholeheartedly! (I know he also does driveways because he gave an estimate to a neighbor, and he told me what that project would involve. He has been doing this work for a few decades, so he knows what he is doing.)

Recent Review: After seeing their product at the Minneapolis Home & Garden show we were convinced that this was the right product for our porch improvement work. The guys from EZ-Screen brought samples to our home to help us select frame color and installation method. They took careful measurements of all of the window and door openings and put our order in motion. A few weeks later our windows and door were delivered. We did this work at the same time we had some exterior siding work done by another contractor. We arranged to have that contractor do the actual installation of the EZ-Screen product. The rep from EZ-Screen came out to our site when the installation started to ensure that our contractor understood how to properly install the windows and door. Everything went smoothly and contractor commented on how easy the windows went in. After three full seasons of use we still enjoy the product and we're pleased that we chose this as part of our porch renovation. It has added several additional months to our porch usage in our short Minnesota summer seasons. I highly recommend this product for any new screen porch or porch renovation job!
