We renovated our kitchen and had someone from Hybrid Air come out to give us an estimate. We told them exactly what we needed done and also talked to them about the installation of the cabinets etc. The guy ensured us that they could run the gas line for us and the downdraft line. Well.... the gas line went fine. The downdraft we had an issue with the inspection and because they did not allow proper clearance from the ground to the draft vent exiting from the crawl space, it failed inspection. So they came back and modified the vent so it came up higher, but looked horrible. We felt they didn't verify the inspection clearance requirements before they made the hole for the exit vent, and as a result we failed the inspection then ended up with this... as they referred to it... loch ness monster looking contraption. The main issue we had with this company is the professionalism we encountered. We had an issue with two different people within this company on this project. When we got our estimate and set up the details of the work to be done, the guy told us that they could come in after the cabinets were installed and drop the water line down the wall and bring it back up behind the refrigerator. He also said they could come in and run the down draft after the island was in place. When another guy arrived to do the work it was a whole other story. The guy doing the work was frustrated that he had to work around the cabinets and blamed the first guy that came out saying he didn't know what he was talking about. They ended up leaving the refrigerator water box in the wall where it was and running a cord down the cabinet behind the drawer and cut a hole in the side of the cabinet. (Note: when they cut the hole, he went from the inside of the cabinet out and splintered the new cabinets... my husband could have drilled a better hole to prevent damage to the new cabinets). So now we have water behind our new cabinets with a line that runs down. This isn't what we agreed to when we set up the work order and paid 1/2 down. Well, they sent the first guy back out again and had a real attitude. Basically they couldn't do what he said they could do. We were very clear that we wanted the water box moved and obviously he knew that because he said it was no problem to go under the house to pull the water line and bring it back up the wall. He never once mentioned running a basic refrigerator line and drilling a hole in our wall. IN addition the water box is near an outlet now which is a hazard my husband worried about. The work they said they could do is as they put it, something they aren't experts in. And basically we should have contacted a plumber to get what we wanted done. So if you can't do the work you agree to, then don't agree in the first place. This was probably the worst experience we had with any of the contractors we worked with for our kitchen renovation. Based on the attitude we experienced with the one worker we dealt with we would not use this company again... They did remove the charge for the water line, but now to get what we agreed to in the first place, we now have to call a plumber in and have an ugly hole in the side of our new cabinets by the refrigerator that was unnecessary. We could give an A for the gas line work, but we had problems with both the down draft vent and the water line that was run. They were also the only contractor we worked with that required a down payment and definitely one this steep. Everything works, but 2 out of 3 aren't up to what we expected and agreed to.
