After the installation radon level decreased with 2.5 (on a Radon Siren device) to 1.4. Standard canister test indicated .8 (within Radon Siren device error limits)

My house had excessive levels of radon in our lower level. The Lance Dorfi team installed a pump to pump out the radon and release it up above the roof of the house. Since then, radon levels in that part of the house have been very low, so the problem was resolved. The work was done on budget, and they did an excellent job with scheduling and customer service. I recommend them for dealing with radon.

Came the same day I called. Replaced the motor quickly and with no problems. Also checked my radon system was working properly and suggested a hole in basement be plugged as it was a radon source. Knowledgeable and friendly - would use again.

It went well. They successfully installed one full service radon retest with a Continuous Radon Monitor, Replace 2 fan units, Replace existing exhaust of 3" PVC to 4" PVC, Clean out 2 floor penetrations and Repaired electric on existing radon system installed by another company. Radon levels were finally reduced to satisfactory-NJ state acceptable level.

It is my absolute pleasure to write this raving review for Benedict Ugorji (the owner) at Radon Shield LLC and I make no commission recommending him. The radon level was 1.8 pCi/L when I bought my home in Holmdel, NJ, in February 2021. I wanted to lower the radon level for personal health reasons (I have a young 3 year old) not for a real estate transaction (goal level <4 pCi/L). Safe levels were established in the 1970s (The history, development and the present status of the radon measurement programme in the United States of America. Radiat Prot Dosimetry 2015; 167(1-3): 8-14) so maybe new safe levels should be lower than the current recommendation to reflect available technologies for radon mitigation as there is no safe level. I spent $700+ for a new Fantech Rn4EC-4 fan and to seal the French drain serviced through RAdata in Flanders, NJ, and the level was unchanged at 1.6 and 1.9 pCi/L after servicing. RAdata is a disorganized business that will recommend the most expensive system (the energy recovery ventilator) that costs $3000 that other radon companies (I got two second opinions) will say that it does not work. Then RAdata proposed to install a second mitigation system right next to the current system, but could not intelligently justify why the second system would be right adjacent to the current system where there is already subterranean air flow generated by the current system instead of tackling the no subterranean air flow zone at the farthest end of the basement. Please refer to my review about RAdata on Yelp and Facebook and my subsequent reply to their response for details. I kept looking for another radon company and fortunately I found a gem in the unscrupulous radon business. The gem is Benedict whom I unwaveringly and unequivocally recommend. Benedict is responsive – he patiently listened about my radon situation and collected information about my pre and post service radon level and even information down to the granular level like what make and model fan RAdata installed. Benedict came to my home for the consultation, to run the diagnostic tests, he proposed solutions and offered his rational, he did the installation of the second mitigation system (in the area of the basement with no subterranean air flow) from start to finish by himself, he used a more powerful and cheaper fan for the second system (than the one RAdata installed for my first system), and he guaranteed to lower the radon to a specified level in his contract. Benedict charges one flat service fee (whereas RAdata charges the first hour and then at 15 min increments so you are discouraged from asking questions). Benedict took his time to explain to me about how a fan’s performance (like moving air measured in cubic feet per minute or CFM) is affected by your soil’s static pressure (the value on your u-tube manometer). He even followed up with me on a Saturday via text message about the short term radon level measured with the Corentium radon detector (while the charcoal kits are being sampled) and guided me through interpreting the short versus long term average as the values were quite different. We touched based again when the charcoal test came back and the levels were an astonishing 0.5 and 0.6 pCi/L!!!

We are SO glad you found Radon Shield. After the first standard radon test came back 0.0, we knew we weren't going to purchase that home without another inspector preforming a re-test. The seller stated no one tampered with the test but with her tenants on-site we had our questions. We immediately schedule Radon Shield to test the property to give us results we can trust and to easy our minds.

The price was a little bit more, but he gave me a 10 percent discount because I mentioned Angie's List. It was supposed to be $1500.00, but I paid $1200.00. I read all the reviews. That was mainly why I signed up for Angie's List. He was just what everybody said. He was excellent, and I am picky. He was very professional. He came on time. He was very knowledgeable to tell me what exactly he did. The system he did in my basement was very neat. He cleaned up. It just looks like very low key pipe and he drilled a hole in the cement and he didn’t leave any kind of mess. I think the price was competitive for what I paid just to have peace of mind. There was not one bit of aggravation. I have had people over here that were just awful and they were highly recommended. That's why I finally resorted to Angie's List. Just what everybody said, he was terrific. Now I have been telling everybody to use Angie's List. I would use him again in the future if I had to, but I am selling the house. If I had any water problems or anything like that, I would definitely use him. One day when he came there was a massive accident on the road and he got here anyway. I don't know how he did that. He must have monitored it and just left early because he does come from near here. When I turned on the TV, I saw the accident and the road all clogged up, I thought I would have another two hours before he showed up, but he was here. I have been here 29 years and except for my own son who does good work, I haven't had a workman here that good.

They did a great job and also came back promptly to seal the sum pump when called back reporting the issue. The radon test results came back with less than 1.0! Would love to recommend to anyone who needs the service for radon issues!

The company did a great job from start to finish. They were polite, punctual and professional. They tested for radon before and after installation of the radon remediation system. A minor adjustment was requested and was completed. They filed the permits and followed up to insure that the inspections were completed satisfactorily.

Radon Shield was very responsive from the first time I contacted them all the way through the installation of the radon remediation system. They are very clear up front about the cost of the system and the cost of potential add on’s if they encounter something unforeseen during the installation and they do a very thorough walk through with you to help design the system to meet your needs from radon remediation to aesthetics. During the installation, the team is very considerate, neat, and timely. Ultimately what matters is whether the system works and in our case, it has worked very well at reducing radon levels in our basement from 12-13 pCi/L before remediation to 1-2 pCi/L.

Recent Review: Andy was able to service my request for a home inspection with only a couple of days notice, and he took the effort to properly explain his service telling me about the typical things we'd look for during the process. He actually spent 4 hours doing the inspection with me and was extremely thorough and equally patient in answering my many questions. His report came promptly and was as thorough as the inspection containing many pictures with arrows highlighting the salient points. I would certainly use this professional and polite individual again.

Recent Review: Soos Radon was very responsive to my need for radon remediation in connection with the impending sale of my former residence. They were able to provide a quote over the phone and to set up prompt installation. The installers arrived at the scheduled time, were courteous and professional and left the property as clean as they found it. Satisfactory re-test results were received quickly. All in all a surprisingly easy process that took 2 weeks from initial contact to receiving the re-test results. I would not hesitate to use Soos Radon again.

Recent Review: Chris performed a radon test and radon mitigation which brought the radon level down to 0.2. Chris is the owner and installer and he gave me a date 2 days away since I wanted this done immediately and he had a cancellation. He was considerate, courteous and quite knowledgeable about radon and how high exposure for an extended period can cause physical Illnesses. Price was $150. for the test and $1,500. for the installation of the mitigation system.

Recent Review: I contacted Lou for a last minute home inspection and radon test. Despite it being short notice, Lou was able to schedule a next day appointment. Lou got to work immediately, inspecting first the exterior of the house then moving into the interior. He was experienced and everyone there, three other people including our realtor, thought he was extremely thorough. What I found to be the most impressive was how detailed he was. He crawled on his knees to get below the deck, climbed onto the roof to inspect the chimney and shingles and much more. Throughout the entire process, he would explain to us what he was doing and give us tips on how to fix anything that needed repair. We?ve hired inspectors previously and never met someone who excels at his job as Lou does. Given his price and the value he brings to the table, I would highly recommend Lou.

Recent Review: This was my first home inspection and Justin was extremely helpful. He walked us through everything pointing out not only issues that needed to be addressed today but explaining various things about what we should look for in an old home. He was also great when I first called him for a quote and even told me that some tests other home inspectors had recommended were pointless and a waste of money. He graciously accommodated a last minute scheduling change as well. I would definitely recommend Justin to anyone needing a home inspection.

Recent Review: My offer was accepted and I needed an inspection right away so I could make sure the contract was signed. Chad answered the phone right away and made an appointment for the next day. He arrived early, and in a very professional and friendly manner, performed a detailed inspection. He confidently and clearly answered any questions I had while we went through the house. After taking his time to not only perform the inspection and answer questions, he sent a very detailed report quickly. He even picked up the radon test and delivered it to the lab on a weekend so my contract would be ready by Monday. I highly recommend Smart Start Home Inspection and Chad.
